I'm actually currently undergoing an intensive drug treatment program designed to help me block out memories of Tara Reid trying to pronounce "Newfoundland" in "Alone in the Dark" and Burt Reynolds as a good ol' boy King in "Dungeon Siege: In the Name of God, WHY!?".  Hopefully, God willing, I'll be a whole man once again...someday.

after watching harold and kumar escape gitmo, i think i'm beginning to move away from stoner humor movies.

That's because Harold and Kumar escape from Guantanimo Bay was a bad movie. It lacked the whimsical fun and smarts of the first movie -- two stoners going to white castle = road trip movie; two stoners running from guantanimo bay = insult to intelligence. They were running from the dumbest villain ever to grace the big screen (even worse than will farrell's character in J&SBSB). There were too many scenes that were groan inducingly bad that by the end of it I was bored. It ultimately failed because they tried to do too much with simple characters.

There were some great moments though. The scene with the moronofficer talking to NPH's about his role in starship troopers... completely genius.

The Pineapple Express, I have high hopes for - because I find Seth Rogen consistently funny. Thug life.

i actually agree with that assessment.  even NPH couldn't save it, unfortunately.   icon_neutral

Welcome to "Reasons why KS doesn't use VMWare 101".  Easy to restore, but stability...eh...proof is in the ink in this case.

We always find out proof in the pudding, rather than ink. It gets our tongues all icky and blue.

So I was playing this new VMWare flash game called CrashOO ... its on PopCap games now... or was it Hepcat games?

the only game that Hepcat Games is currently offering is "Equus: The Role Playing Game".

I remember the release of burton's batman.  it really was a cultural phenom.  the number of t-shirts, bumper stickers and posters on the street with the bat symbol was unbelievable.  i even remember quite a few vandalized street signs signaling a "T intersection" (the ones with a straight line with arrows at each end) painted to look like the bat symbol.   icon_eek

Well, seems like more than just a few of us were a little put off by the voice Bale takes on when in the Batman suit :

Quote
Reviewing the film for MSNBC, Alonso Duralde wrote that Bale's Batman in "Batman Begins" "sounded absurdly deep, like a 10-year-old putting on an 'adult' voice to make prank phone calls. This time, Bale affects an eerie rasp, somewhat akin to Brenda Vaccaro doing a Miles Davis impression."

however, that one thing doesn't do much in the way of harming this great film.

I most certainly did not intend for my post to be seen as a "how to"" manual on crashing OO.  I was simply making an observation here that hopefully someone from OO would take note of and perhaps address.  Contacting the admins for OO was not an option at the time as I couldn't get into OO (obviously...hence my post).  By the time it did come back I had moved on to something else and forgot to contact them.

In any case, it's not like i'm the first person to post a "hey i found a problem with the site" message in this thread or at OO on the meta board.   Roll Eyes

as i noted in my initial post, i regard this crime as shocking and down right frightening.  i have nothing but the utmost sympathy for the victim's family and I'm apalled at the extent of evil displayed by the murderer.

however, gallows humor has existed since the moment humans traded fins for feet (or, if you're a creationist, were plopped into the garden).  it's in our dna to make light of things that scare us.  it helps us to deal.  yes, tasteless at times.  but it doesn't mean those making jokes about the situation are any less aware of the gravity of the situation.

in any case, as pointed out, this thread was purely an attempt to poke fun at the number of threads that popped into existence after the first one.

This monster didn't give a shit if he got caught or shot to dead in that bus after butchering that man. He was too far gone.

actually, the people on the bus reported that he tried to escape through a window at first, then tried to drive the bus away when police arrived.  the quick thinking drive had engaged some type of override switch on the bus though.

Reading the longer news articles that have been released since I originally started this thread makes the whole thing read even more like a horror movie.

The passengers tried to confront him but he scared them off with the knife.  When some men went back on board to try to help the victim, the murderer came after them with a knife in one hand and the victim's severed head in the other.  They eventually were able to lock him in the bus but had to watch him try to force his way out of the door while brandishing crowbars and wrenches distributed by a passerby in a truck.

 icon_eek

God, this thing just gets more and more horrific.

I was stationed down in El Paso years ago for work for about a year and I heard all sorts of horror stories about Juarez.  If I recall correctly, there was another murderer who concentrated on prostitutes that was eventually caught on a train around that time.

Juarez itself is just scary.  Although Tijuana isn't exactly a walk in the park, either.  Border towns, as someone mentioned, are just bad news, unfortunately.
