Bullshit.

Thinking it is horrible has nothing to do with the far fetchedness of the premise.  It's just a really bad movie with a really bad plot, crappy dialog, and cardboard performances.

hypocrisy:  bitching about the plot and dialog in Wanted after spending multiple posts defending Shoot "em Up.   icon_lol

Shoot 'em Up never took itself seriously though.

his outburst never once mentioned the level of seriousness which the film displayed.  it specifically mentioned bad plot and crappy dialog.  both are abundantly available in either film.

Yeah, both Impulse and Steam get my gaming dollars first if they offer something I want at the same price as the stores.  I had to rebuild my system yet again last night (thank you microsoft and vista 64 for some truly screwed up drivers that will destroy your system if you're not careful) and after i got the OS back up and running, I simply installed Impulse and Steam, logged in and then went to bed after telling them to download and install my games.  Woke up this morning and they were all there waiting for me.  no muss, no fuss.   icon_biggrin

It looks great, Is.  Good job!

I remember years ago when a young peterock came to these shores.  He was using a flowbee for all his stylist needs at that time.

I told him to ditch the $19.99 wonder tool and get himself to a real salon.  I also told him that only gay pornstars had mustaches like that.

He found a great beautician and the rest is history....

...but he kept the mustache.

Tuscan Milk is akin to Blood Diamonds, however.  The U.S. cannot condone the methods used by italians in acquiring the milk (repeatedly punching the cow in the forehead while demanding production?  it's inhuman), so Food Lion (The current Fort Knox of our milk reserves) will not stock it.

I had recently purchased a used car from my friend Dr. Emmitt Brown, and was told I needed to purchase nuclear material to enjoy the full benefits of the car. I saw this item on Amazon and thought I was in luck. Unfortunately, the use of uranium in my Delorean had some unforseen consequences. As I entered a California freeway, I knew I had to speed up to 90 MPH, or I would be run off the road. As I approached this speed, many weird things started to happen, and long story short, I was somehow transported to the year 1996. Knowing the past sports outcomes of the last decade, I went to Las Vegas and correctly predicted the winner of every World Series, Super Bowl, NBA Finals. Now, I am a billionaire and married to my childhood sweetheart, after I killed her husband. Thank you uranium ore, for making my dreams come true.

The video is there as well.

I'm going to be trying to get a copy from FFG for review.  Hopefully I will still get Battlestar Galactica as well.

Very nice!  BSG looks to be a good game overall!

Picked up BSG a couple weeks ago (get it now, if you're going to order from FFG as the price is going from 39.99 to 49.99 soon).  Got two games in last friday night with the gang.  Humans lost both times.  I love the Cylon mechanic in the game but you need to be careful when you're trying to hide which side you're on.  Overall, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.  I think it needs a bit more card variety to push it over the edge to greatness.

p.s. like i need another game, but damn if you folks haven't put Android on my radar now.   icon_mad  icon_wink

Eel, have you tried any of the tech placement services?  I know they're mostly scams, but some of them do help you get your foot in the door.  A friend of mine has used them a few times to get placed on Exchange admin jobs.  The last one kept him around after the contract ran out as a full time employee.

So if you find a wallet that has 5.00 and a well worn picture of some adorable but obviously underfed children you'll return it  because the guy is broke, but if the wallet has 500.00 in it and one of those black american express cards, you don't because the guy obviously has no worries about money?

Not sure why the store size makes a difference.

In the case of the latter scenario, I would return it.  However, I would also return late at night and start living in the guy's crawlspace.  He's rich, for cryin' out loud.

I'll be honest:  I probably wouldn't unless it was a small store run by someone who I knew.  I would love to say I would, but I know a combination of being too damn lazy to drive back there, combined with my innate love of keeping my money would get the better of me.  Would I actively steal something?  No.  But when it falls into your lap like this, I can't fault people for succumbing to their baser desires.   icon_frown

Fantasy Flight is having a pretty decent sale on some of their board, mini and card games.

If you are in the market for apes wearing power armor, this is the deal for you!

Sale ends 12/9.

Any of those $5 board games worth a damn? Particularly for 2 players?

Unfortunately, the ones I see listed are either games I wouldn't recommend or that I haven't played.  The only exception is Wreckage, which I've heard some good things about.

Well, considering you'd have to keep the gas chainsaw running for it to be any use, the electric is probably a bit more stealthy.

It's a freakin' chainsaw attached to an automatic rifle.  Where were you planning on running your stealth mission with this thing?  The main floor of a Ford plant on a Wednesday afternoon?   icon_biggrin
7829  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [History] 8 rebellious US regions on: December 02, 2008, 06:42:04 PM
This article on 8 US regions that have tried to secede from the union made me chuckle.

My personal favorite is the Conch Republic.   icon_lol

Quote
In the early-1980s, the U.S. Border Patrol set up a checkpoint at the entrance to the Florida Keys in an effort to stop illegal drugs and immigrants. The time to check everyone's identification at the checkpoint resulted in a 20-mile traffic jam that turned tourists away, thus damaging the economy in the Keys.

After numerous legal attempts to have the checkpoint removed, on April 23, 1982, Key West mayor Dennis Wardlow declared the Florida Keys were seceding from the Union.

Moments later, now-Prime Minister Wardlow symbolically declared war on the U.S. by breaking a stale piece of Cuban bread over the head of a man dressed in a U.S. Navy uniform. One minute later, Wardlow turned to the Admiral in charge of the U.S. Naval Base at Key West and surrendered, thus ending the Conch Republic's Civil Rebellion. He then immediately asked for $1 billion in federal aid to help rebuild his war-torn nation's economy.

While officially the Republic only existed for one minute, the tongue-in-cheek spirit of the rebellion lives on. Today you can buy Conch Republic citizen and diplomatic passports (both of which have been used for international travel, though they are not intended to be official documents) and even an official flag of the republic (complete with the awesome motto, "We seceded where others failed"). The community has even minted a series of limited edition one-conch dollar coins that can be used as legal tender while in the Keys.

No doubt...that was one of the best episodes in 7 seasons I think.  I didn't expect that interview to go down that way - I never expected him to admit to everything.  It was a bit of an 'unburden yourself, Mr. Faust' kinda thing.

I was surprised as well.  Him turning on Ronnie was completely unexpected...even if it was for what he thought was a noble reason.  I just loved Olivia's line, "Do you have any idea what you've just done to me?" after about the 28th admission of a felony.   icon_lol

They've vowed to go back to what made the show good - focus on characters and character moments - but in all honesty I think it's too late for that.

It's never too late!

Next episode opening scene:

Mama Petrelli abruptly sits up in her bed in the middle of the night.  "What a horrible, progressively worse, and internally inconsistent dream I just had!  We must not let this happen."

Plot continues on a different path from the point of the season 1 finale, and we pretend season 2 and 3 never happened.

Yatta!

...then Patrick Duffy walks out of the shower and we cut to Bob Newhart waking up next to his first wife.

after Pushing Daisies gets canceled one of the better writers said he'd return to Heroes.  still, I'm enjoying the season for the most part.  it's become a cheesy syndicated show that stumbled into a prime time slot.

And there's the injustice of it.  A phenomenally well acted and well written show like Pushing Daisies gets canned (most likely), while a show that exists now solely because a network can make more money off a promise of quality displayed only in the first season carries on.   icon_mad

I honestly doubt they can salvage Heroes at this point, even with new blood.  IMHO, the only way they could turn it around is to destroy the entire cast of characters and reboot it with fresh ideas.  It's gotten THAT bad.  I mean, it's Smallville and Moonlight bad at this point.
