Something that I'm finding impressive about the show is the ability of the actors playing the dolls to change roles so well.  If you think about it, this show is really challenging for actors, because they essentially have to create very different characters every week, and sometimes switch back and forth within the show, which they have all managed to do very well, I think.  I was especially impressed with the guy who got the security chief put in his head.  It was kind of eerie how well he imitated him.

Yep- Dichen Lachman and Enver Gjokaj are great finds and hopefully will have a promising future even if Dollhouse doesn't go on.  Sad thing is that they are acting rings around Dushku.

My thoughts exactly.  At first, I thought those two actors were merely window dressing.  But they've show some real acting chops.  Especially Gjokaj.  Man, that guy is scary good at playing such radically different people.

AWWW WTF???...i heard it was gonna be X-Men Origins:Magneto next...infact i was looking forward to that as much as i am for Wolverine

honestly, I'll be glad if they skip over Magneto to do Deadpool, especially if they insist on using CGI to make Ian McKellen younger.

I wonder if they'll have him use his magnetic powers to whip his walker at people?

Downloaded it last night and fired up my save from right before the final moments of the game and chose an alternative ending that would let me survive...and the game dropped me back to the menu screen.  I tried it a second time and it finally opened up the new content.  Just a word of warning that it may do the same for someone else.  If so, just reload and try it again.

I read that they were bringing back (or have already brought back) Barry Allen (the second flash) after his great death in the Infinite Crises series eons ago.  That's pretty annoying.

My only problem with the show is that in my opinion it didn't really get interesting until the last half dozen episodes of the last season.  It was like they needed someone to light a fire under their ass to get it going.

Unless it's a video rental, I don't think there are any time limits.  I still have DLC stuff on my system that I bought a few months after the 360 hit shelves.
7409  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine on: May 04, 2009, 09:35:57 PM
The first x-men caught me completely off guard.  It showed what a talented cast coupled with writers who cared about the material could do.  It was first and foremost a character driven film.  The second one threw in a bit more action, but still maintained that character development so necessary in making us care about these people.

X3 just tossed all that out and moved you from one battle to the next without any affection for its characters.  It was a real disappointment for me, although I still enjoyed seeing Vinnie Jones struggling to make his accent at least halfway understandable.   icon_biggrin

I don't understand this line of reasoning.  I feel like most RPGs tend to be very story-heavy, and thus contain a lot of "NPCs yammering".  If that bugs you, then you probably weren't looking for an RPG anyway.  Besides, given that this is a Bethesda game, couldn't you just tell them to fuck off and then shoot them in the head?

Simply put, he doesn't like RPG's.  He likes action/rpg's that are very lite on the rpg, at most.

7416  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Demigod on: May 04, 2009, 04:38:31 PM
I try to avoid day one purchases as well, but I tend to let that rule become more of a suggestion when it comes to developers/distributors I trust.  Steam and Stardock being two of them as I have no doubt that they'll do their hardest to fix any issues that might pop up (Stardock being the more reliable of the two as Brad himself will dive in and work on stuff). Am I disappointed in the MP and favor points problems that have plagued the game since release?  Of course I am.  However, I look at this way:  I put money in the pockets of a small developer (in comparison to studios like EA and Microsoft) who actually cares about their products and will work to fix them.  I'm willing to live with that.

While I appreciate the half off coupons in an effort to up the playerbase, it does make me a bit miffed as an early buyer.  Basically, by buying on day 1, I had the joy of having an MP focused game with serious connectivity issues.  Had I waited, I would have had far fewer issues, and been able to get a code for 50% off from a friend.  Remind me, why did I buy on day 1 again?

hindsight is always 20/20.

If I alt-tab out of a game to my desktop, I'm actually surprised if everything still works when I alt-tab back.   icon_biggrin

As for the status update, that's why I may get disappointed from time to time with Stardock, but also why I always come back to them.  They fess up to their mistakes and they handle them.  Then they go the extra mile.  That means a lot in my book.

We should get a list together of folks who need/want the 20 dollar demigod coupons so we can get as many GT folks into the game as possible.

They had it on Xbox Live video marketplace for a while.  Still might.  But they were charging like full movie theater ticket price for it and I wasn't about to pay that much for a film that badly rated.

In other news, I bought the revamped board/mini game at Gencon last year from the FFG booth....only to find out 9 months later that they are dropping the game due to poor sales.    icon_mad

Could on mine.. problem is that it would say IN FUNGI E when I was disinterested.

So you have a pool stick that actually grows and shrinks depending on the level of attention you're paying to a pool game?  My god, that would be cool.  You'd be like a watered down version of Midnight Eye Goku

ouch.  5.0 from IGN.

Closing Comments
Velvet Assassin could have been an interesting take on World War II by highlighting a facet of the conflict that's rarely covered by gaming. While it does bring in the secret agent angle, it also brings in a story that's completely thin and unsupported. Even worse, Assassin features flawed stealth action elements that can ruin the gameplay when they go awry, and only point out the hit-or-miss nature of the mechanics when they work well. If you need a stealth action experience, you'll probably want to look elsewhere.

Usually if it dips that low in a review, it will rate fairly low across the board.  Too bad though, it sounded interesting.

Spoiler for Hiden:
SL, I didn't (and still don't) see any signs that anything other than Oskar feeling like he wasn't wanted by his father was going on in that scene.  He left because he felt like he didn't belong.  That's a constant theme with Oskar.  Also, the director himself basically stated that there was no intention of any homosexual overtones in that scene.  While I don't recall that the director ever explicitly stated that Oskar's dad is an alcoholic, it's a fairly easy jump to make considering the almost embarrassed looks he gives his son as he sets out the booze.  Also, sorry if I came across as insulting in my reply at any point.  That was not my intent.
