7321  Gaming / Analog Gaming / Re: AE-WWII miniature. My first painted in 3 years on: April 24, 2009, 03:36:24 AM
Very nice!  I'm still digesting, and loving, the rules.  Please excuse my ignorance, but my experience with miniatures is very limited.  I'm about to order a couple starter sets and I notice that the sets come with arms, heads, etc.. I realize I have to assemble them, but is this difficult to do for an inexperienced player?  Do I use some form of epoxy?  Or do they snap together?  Again, sorry for the dumb questions.   icon_redface

I've almost picked Monsterpocalypse up on more than one occasion.  I need to actually play it at gencon this year.
7323  Gaming / Analog Gaming / Re: AE-WWII miniature. My first painted in 3 years on: April 23, 2009, 03:34:19 PM
I'm probably going to attend Gencon on Thursday and Friday, so I'll make sure to check out their vendor booth.  I just wish they had zombies in the game.  That would be the weird war trifecta for me!

The Secrets of the Third Reich includes a few things that appeal to me (the aforementioned zombies, vampires and customizable mechs...along with what appears to be almost an rpg like rules variant).  I'll have to look into the upcoming AE stuff to see if they've added some of that stuff.

thanks!  the prices on ccgarmory are excellent.  i believe i'll pick up a couple.  anyone ever play secrets of the third reich?  that's the other one i was interested in, although i went with ae-wwii because it seems to receive better reviews in most places.
7325  Gaming / Analog Gaming / Re: AE-WWII miniature. My first painted in 3 years on: April 23, 2009, 02:11:29 AM
I picked up the rulebook this afternoon.  So far I'm diggin' it.  Just need to order some starter sets now.  Who do you folks order your minis from?  oh, and turtle, you mention the druids but I thought they were only in the occult expansion, which doesn't seem to be out yet.  is that coming soon?

That's kind of the point.  Larry is not supposed to be likable...in any way, shape or form.  Seinfeld was also intended to be a group of very unlikeable people.  That's why the show ended the way it did.

I have fond memories of playing this into the wee hours of many a night.  However, it eventually became just a grief fest for high level kiddies who'd camp outside cities and take down anyone they saw...even if that person was 20 or 30 levels below them.  It got so bad that new players couldn't level up outside the starting area unless they had escorts to take them everywhere.

"That RTS" is probably Irrational Games' Freedom Force. It was pretty awesome (throwing cars, using light poles as battering rams, bringing buildings down, etc.).  For whatever reason, I really couldn't get into its followup. Definitely something I should do a [revisit] thread on some day...

Ultimate Alliance, which I did get on PC, was a fun bash-em up but it's not terribly deep.

My vote for best damned superhero game ever made.  I really wish they'd do another one.

It's basically a geriatric Seinfeld, so if you didn't like that show I doubt you'll like Curb Your Enthusiasm.  I like it well enough, but it is full of hits AND misses.

The book that was the source for the movie gives a much more detailed history of Eli's past.  Look it up on amazon and read some of the reader reviews to get more info.  I don't want to ruin the book for you if you're planning on ever reading it.

They had to in order to save Heroes, even though it's on a different network  icon_twisted

All they needed to do was seal the writer's room during a morning status meeting, fill the room with cyanide, hire a monkey with a keyboard taped to his left hand, then enjoy a pop tart as the show started to make more sense...

I'm still torn between getting this for the PC or for the 360.  It all comes down to content for me.  They've released quite a few updates with content on the PC version since the game's release.  Will that content be included with the console version?  Going forward, will they keep the DLC for the game concurrent with what is available for the PC version?

Whoo hoo, finally got into an online skirmish game last night.  Took freakin' forever, but eventually it found some players and away I went...

...and died...

...then died again...

...finally figured out why i was dying so quickly...then died.

....realized i was wrong about why i was dying...and died again.

finally, the other team just put us out of our misery and finished off our fortresses.

final scores were ridiculously disparate.  damage of 162344 vs. 12 or something.

god, it was embarrassing.   icon_redface

i'm confused about favor points, though.  before i started the game, i had close to 400 favor points from single player tournaments.  after the online game, i had MINUS 740??  do you lose favor points if you do badly?

I will forgive you a great many things, but do not insult the great Adam Baldwin again.  I don't want to have to release these photos....

p.s.  I don't give the original Doomsday stories much love to begin with, so that may play into my lack of outrage when comparing the comic book source to the animated version.  I thought the death of Superman was an incredibly cheap, badly written attempt to cash in on multiple foil covers and derivative heroes who didn't require much thought to create and market (Steel, Superboy, etc.).

I'm confused about the friend's list.  I added a few folks last night and they appear in the Impulse friend's list outside of the game, but when I'm in Demigod they don't appear on my friend's list in the overlay.

Here's my setup:

I have an impulse account under the name hepcat1 that i can log into using the hepcat1 username, or the email address i used for the account.  both will show me the same "hepcat1" account name when logging in with either.

When i'm in the game, I created a profile called "hepcat" and then logged in with the email address as the username.

Am I doing something wrong?
