My avatar has gone missing, as well.  I updated it with another last night just to verify and it appeared for a while, but is now gone again.

...which, given my pension for a particular avatar, might be a good thing for the rest of you.

I was just checking it out and there are quite a few instances where a series of comics will suddenly drop 4 or 5 issues in the middle of the run.  That would drive me nuts.

From the IGN review -

A more serious issue was the corruption of my game save file, which happened after a crash and required a trip into the Xbox Dashboard to delete the save file and restart. And by restart, I mean clean restart, as in all my progress was wiped across multiple characters. While it's impossible to say how widespread an issue like this may be at this point, it's something you should be aware of before making a purchase decision. In case you hadn't heard, Ascaron recently went into administration. We've been told by a representative that post-launch support can still be expected.

That pretty much kills it for me.  With a game this huge, there's no way I'm going to risk losing my saves, even if the possibility is remote.  I guess I'll just go with the PC version.

ditto.  oh well.

doesn't far cry 2 on steam have a DLC?  Plus, DoW2 is a GFW product and I would assume they'll have DLC's for that as well.

Something that I'm finding impressive about the show is the ability of the actors playing the dolls to change roles so well.  If you think about it, this show is really challenging for actors, because they essentially have to create very different characters every week, and sometimes switch back and forth within the show, which they have all managed to do very well, I think.  I was especially impressed with the guy who got the security chief put in his head.  It was kind of eerie how well he imitated him.

Yep- Dichen Lachman and Enver Gjokaj are great finds and hopefully will have a promising future even if Dollhouse doesn't go on.  Sad thing is that they are acting rings around Dushku.

My thoughts exactly.  At first, I thought those two actors were merely window dressing.  But they've show some real acting chops.  Especially Gjokaj.  Man, that guy is scary good at playing such radically different people.

Downloaded it last night and fired up my save from right before the final moments of the game and chose an alternative ending that would let me survive...and the game dropped me back to the menu screen.  I tried it a second time and it finally opened up the new content.  Just a word of warning that it may do the same for someone else.  If so, just reload and try it again.

7345  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine on: May 04, 2009, 09:35:57 PM
The first x-men caught me completely off guard.  It showed what a talented cast coupled with writers who cared about the material could do.  It was first and foremost a character driven film.  The second one threw in a bit more action, but still maintained that character development so necessary in making us care about these people.

X3 just tossed all that out and moved you from one battle to the next without any affection for its characters.  It was a real disappointment for me, although I still enjoyed seeing Vinnie Jones struggling to make his accent at least halfway understandable.   icon_biggrin

I don't understand this line of reasoning.  I feel like most RPGs tend to be very story-heavy, and thus contain a lot of "NPCs yammering".  If that bugs you, then you probably weren't looking for an RPG anyway.  Besides, given that this is a Bethesda game, couldn't you just tell them to fuck off and then shoot them in the head?

Simply put, he doesn't like RPG's.  He likes action/rpg's that are very lite on the rpg, at most.

7352  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Demigod on: May 04, 2009, 04:38:31 PM
I try to avoid day one purchases as well, but I tend to let that rule become more of a suggestion when it comes to developers/distributors I trust.  Steam and Stardock being two of them as I have no doubt that they'll do their hardest to fix any issues that might pop up (Stardock being the more reliable of the two as Brad himself will dive in and work on stuff). Am I disappointed in the MP and favor points problems that have plagued the game since release?  Of course I am.  However, I look at this way:  I put money in the pockets of a small developer (in comparison to studios like EA and Microsoft) who actually cares about their products and will work to fix them.  I'm willing to live with that.

While I appreciate the half off coupons in an effort to up the playerbase, it does make me a bit miffed as an early buyer.  Basically, by buying on day 1, I had the joy of having an MP focused game with serious connectivity issues.  Had I waited, I would have had far fewer issues, and been able to get a code for 50% off from a friend.  Remind me, why did I buy on day 1 again?

hindsight is always 20/20.

As for the status update, that's why I may get disappointed from time to time with Stardock, but also why I always come back to them.  They fess up to their mistakes and they handle them.  Then they go the extra mile.  That means a lot in my book.

We should get a list together of folks who need/want the 20 dollar demigod coupons so we can get as many GT folks into the game as possible.
