I know I probably shouldn't go there, but...Thats a horrible trailer. Is nothing sacred anymore?
I hate it when movies/games uses children for shock effect. Probably comes from being a parent.
Other than that, very spooky trailer, and very well done, if the content itself leaves me somewhat annoyed.
Had they not used the kid, how would they have "ended" the trailer? Seems to me that the impact is just right.

I have 3 dogs and seriously need to upgrade my vacuum (the one I'm using smells of burning pet hair now). The consensus is here seems to be the Dyson, I'm wondering what the take is on the ball version versus the standard. One of the more common complaints on the DC25 is the size of the canister, anybody who has either care to comment? Here are the two I'm looking at: I have the equivalent of the DC25. Never had any issues with the canister size, I can do the whole house without it filling up. I was actually worried about the ball when we got it because we have mostly tile, but I have to say that it has been great.

So I went looking for a particular book yesterday, and while I didn't find any deals on it, I did find there there seems to be a lot of sites that claim to have a lot of free ebooks for download. For most of them I really don't have a lot of hope that they are completely legal, but was wondering if this thread would be a good place to discuss them. The one that I know is completely legal is http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page which releases ebook forms of out of copyright books.

By the way, I got the Nook Color yesterday.
How do you like it so far? I found someone at work with one and he already had it rooted. He had Angry Birds and the Kindle app loaded. I'm pretty much sold and plan to pick up a pair this weekend. My wife wants a Galaxy but I can buy two of these for the same price. I have gotten to use it for about 50 minutes so far. What I did see I liked. Reading worked good, web browsing worked fine. My wife did the setup, so I am guessing that was easy enough.

So it is possible to 'root' the color nook and turn it into a $250 android tablet. I watched a video on youtube where the little guy was snappier than a galaxy tab. Tempting! I think it would be pretty ironic to load the android Kindle on this. Has anyone had any experience?
They are going to open an app store 'soon', so it pretty much will be an Andriod Tablet. Right now devs can't push apps to an actual device, but as soon as they do an update so we can, I am sure a root exploit will be found. By the way, I got the Nook Color yesterday.

Probably not really the direction you are thinking, but if you are really talking about "Rich Internet Applications" then look at Silverlight and Flex. They will give you the power to build interfaces quickly that are very "rich".

San Diego also has its famous zoo and wild animal park. For your kid, I would recommend Lego World. There is also the Scripps aquarium in La Jolla, which is much cheaper than Sea World and more little kid friendly because it is much smaller.
My wife and I are bringing our 2 1/2 year old daughter to LA and San Diego next week to visit family. Thanks for the tip on the Scripps (Birch?) aquarium. I don't know if her aunt in San Diego knows about it but I checked the ticket prices and it seems a great low-cost alternative to Sea World. Especially since the little one won't get to rid many of the Sea World rides anyway. My 2 year old loved the rides at Sea World. Sure, there aren't that many of them, but combined with the shows I was very happy with taking her at that age. We actually went twice while we were there.

...probably only... Suuuuuuuuuuuuure. Yeah, there isn't such a thing as only one tattoo. Well we'll just have to wait and see about that. I am not really the tattoo type, but last year decided I wanted to get one that would remind me of how far I have come, and how far I can go. I think I might go start a new thread to talk about it and get some feedback.

1. Gym blah blah (but no specific weight loss goal, just "in shape"). 2. Do the gym thing enough to be satisfied with my self and get a tattoo as a reward for my birthday. (will be my first, probably only) 3. Develop and release no less than 9 mobile apps. Going aggressive on this one. Started my first the other day and plan to have it released by no later than the end of Feb.
On that note, if anyone has any mobile app ideas, I would love to hear about them. If you are looking for a profit share then PM me and we can work something out.

I'm thinking a day at Sea World (haven't been there in years, and I'm not really paying for it ), a day at the zoo, a day at the beach, then another 2 days doing...something else. Lego World would be cool, but I think she might be too little to enjoy it. Not sure where to stay that would be somewhat close to all three. Thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming...especially anything kid-friendly. EDIT: The more I think about it, I might try to leave Little Gratch with the grandparents and just go with the missus. At 23 months, it's not like she'd remember any of it anyways. So I'm open for big kid stuff too. Did this exact trip late last year (including the 2 year old). We got a vacation rental house in La Jolla right by the beach, easy drive to the zoo and sea world. We stayed right around here. I also felt that Lego Land was too pricey for a 2 year old. We wanted to go to the aquarium, but didn't get the chance.

I actually can wait, except I would love to hook it up to my computer and write some programs to interact with. If you haven't seen what the hacker community has done already, you should go check it out. Pretty cool stuff.

Picked one up today and, thanks to the fact Best Buy employees can't do math, got $10 off a game too.
Now just to wait and see if the wife will really hold out until x-mas before we open it. My guess is she will break it out next week while my parents are visiting (the love the wii).

diamonds are more likely to spawn if you don't use torches.
Got a link that confirms this info? It just doesn't sound right. It was confirmed on the same site that revealed you get an extra life if you pull a creeper's tail without him noticing you. Oh, I have to try that. <looks for creeper's tail> <looks for creeper's tail again> ssssssss <boom>

We do this every year. Peanut oil works great. You can buy 'flavor injectors' in the store. I make my own flavor to inject, but I have had some pre-made that were pretty good.
WARNING: You said you know to lower the bird slowly, but even more important is to turn the heat source OFF first!
I am pretty sure that the one that I am using is electric. But great point should it not be. Even with an electric I would turn it all the way off first. If you remove the heat source, your remove the chance of fire. Another tip... put down a tarp or cardboard or something that can catch the drips and splatter. It will make a mess and oil is not easy to clean up.

Ok, got a bit of time in today, more than I should have. Figured out how to do the basics. I am loving the world that I got. There are a ton of great features, with caves in the mountains and all over the ground. There are also some floating spires that I found.
Built a hut for my first night, then after finding some coal I started digging into the side of the mountain I built my hut against. Got a nice huge space carved out now.
Found a great underground river that ended up going into a waterfall underground. Can't wait to explore that a lot more.
It is going to be hard to not play this too much.

Purchased this yesterday. Now just to figure out wtf I am doing.
I deleted the first world it created as it was a big island chain. I imagine it would have been cool (and wish I had saved it) but it didn't look like a good place to start.
