I picked this up the other day on Steam. Got it on the tail end of the sale. Pretty darn good, the ship construction part of it and the combat is definitely the high point of it. I've stayed up way too late playing it over the weekend....

Nearly bit on this a couple times now. If it wasn't for Endless Space (which is great, even if the combat is a little lacking) and Sword of the Stars 2 (which, after constant patching, is now almost at the point it should have been at release) I already would have.... kinda waiting on the first round of reviews to see how it pans out. Looks promising, though.

Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Re: iPad Smart Cover - black leather - $30 - works with the new iPad!

Yep, the official Apple Smart Cover. Black leather. The newer version that Apple modified back in October. Older Smart Covers don't work with the new iPad (won't sleep/wake the iPad), but the newer ones will.
Not perfect condition, it has been used and has a few minor scratches, etc. But functions perfectly.
Here: $30 shipped. Retail: $70.
Do you still have this?

Thread necromancy! I could have sworn I followed a link from GT for this, but all I don't see a mention on the other Kickstarter threads here. Ogre is getting reprinted (6e) and had a cool KS run gathering almost a million dollars in support. And yes, some of that money is mine. It closed now, but hit the link for the summary. One of the good news for this is that it will now see a larger run and even non-KS supporters should have a good chance to pickup a copy. And it's cool to see Steve getting to the director's cut version of his baby. Now I just need to track down where my copy of Battlesuit got off to...

The devs did say that they are working on balancing and damage values after this build. They think they made the critters too tough and the players too weak. The fun of balancing....
I've been enjoying the difficulty but still quite low level. So far, (after playing necro, ranger, warrior, engineer, thief), thief is my favorite. It's easy to comprehend and pretty acrobatic in practice. I wanted to love my necro but I wasn't "getting it" yet -- seemed to be very reactive to what others are doing around me, no non-awkward solo build that I could construct -- although switching between dagger and staff was kind of fun. I've tried 3 weapons (dagger, pistol and sword -- with the various off-hand options) with my thief and each has had a distinct and comprehensible play style. It was when I was playing my thief that the game began to click for me. Necro really takes off with axe/warhorn, esp. if you are going minion heavy. Staff necro might be ok for party support, but it was subpar for solo in my experience. I'll have to put some thoughts together later, going to get some sleep now.

I never finished the original Witcher. Is that going to be a big problem for this one?
I've started this on PC, but not finished it. The biggest part of not playing W1 is missing the story from it. It was pretty darn good, IMO. But there's not a lot of continuity between the two, outside of the settings, yourself, and a few major characters. Think of the games like short stories from a favorite author or tv episodes. They are largely self contained, it's pretty easy to jump in, figure out who's who, and enjoy the story.

I'm curious if trait respecs are still going to be free when the game hits, and can a trait build be saved, ala how skill builds were able to be saved in GW1. Can you save an overall equipment/skill/trait combo to reuse later, or just traits (since the skill/attribute build from GW1 is now largely consolidated with weapon selection)... or if you want to change, do you have to rebuild from scratch each time?

For anyone that was on the fence about this, the Kickstarter closes in 27 hours. I went ahead and went to the 2nd tier to get into the beta... I figure it will give me a break for when I'm tired of the Guild Wars 2 beta.

I'm with everyone else here. The ending SUCKS. My thanks for supporting Bioware and this franchise for it's run is this ending?
The Hitler youtube and the '5 reason the ending to Mass 3 sucks' article linked prior pretty much sum it up perfectly.
The ironic thing is, up until the ending, your character/story has HUGE attachment with what you've done and 'your' story up to that point. Decisions, friendships, Geth/Quarian, Krogan etc. Probably the most emotional attachement I've ever seen in gaming up until this point (I'm 37. I've been gaming since 14 or so). And the ending just goes and disregards everything.
Honestly? I hope Bioware can salvage this clusterfuck, but as a fan of the series, at this point, I just feel screwed. And if they do manage to add a decent ending, and it's actually one worth having, I'll have to pay for it when I already paid for the game.
SCREWED.

Anyone preorder and have the beta yet? I'd have gotten it, but ME3 cleaned me out for this month, and the GW2 preorder will clear me out next, so it's looking pretty slim right now....

If you already have an Onlive account, it's pretty much a no brainer to try it out there. I can't remember how annoying it was to setup the initial account, but it's worth it to play demos and stuff on Onlive. Pretty much instant access to a demo to try a new game with no download.... then purchase it on Steam or one of the other portals.

Having lots of fun. This almost feels like a singleplayer equivalent for the MMO lewt pinyata. And tons of subquests. Mage is pretty godlike... which is ironic, because I really liked the rogue in the demo. I keep holding onto rogue gear to maybe respec, but.... again, pretty godlike.

FYI, this game is up for demo on Onlive. You can play multiple 30 minute runs on the current version, not just a single run. Lots of fun. I'd probably classify this as a cross of SPAZ and rogue with maybe a dash of privateer; it really looks like this will be lots of fun when it's released.

Yes. You get a higher level of the skill, but it does not count towards unlocking new tiers of skills. If it's maxed at 5, and you have +2 and +1, you will have it at an effective 8.
I think some skills don't scale beyond the max, but some definately do (speaking on the mage tree).
