eMule might be a possibility, then.
2  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Queued Downloading Sites - Any? on: February 13, 2005, 02:20:56 PM, it's free and works well with GetRight and bt. Pop-up and adblocker are a must, though.

Operation Flashpoint - at least in the beginning, and some user-made missions.

Do you two like to dance? That's the prime non-verbal get-to-know-each-other method I can think of.

Other things... Go to the local beach/lake/indoor swimming pool, or karaoke bar, find out what music she likes, play ping pong/squash/billard, ride a motorcycle two-up, go skying, play coop multiplayer, visit the zoo, have pic-nic in the park, whatever makes her smile.  biggrin  Try to learn chinese from her.

You're a lucky man!
5  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / I Don't Even Bother to Match My Socks Anymore on: October 14, 2004, 06:04:31 PM
Quote from: "msteelers"
My mom always buys me socks for christmas and my birthday as part of my presents. The problems with this is that 1) they're socks and 2) they are different every year.

So I have about 15 different styles of socks in my sock drawer, and I tend to lose a bunch somehow when doing laundry. So I have a pile of socks with no mates.

This happened to our entire family, and soon after we all kind of went our seperate ways (I went to college, my parents moved away, and my brothers were off on their own) we had to have "The Great Sock Round-Up" (TGSRU) in order to condense our growing piles of lonely socks.

Unfortunately, dear mother bought everyone different socks, so TGSRU was a disaster.

Try this.

What's wrong with a tattooed barcode on the neck? Why use those fancy chip thingies?

And you can avoid tubgirl and the like.

SessionSaver's great too. Lets you continue where you were before last shutdown.

If I don't get my three espressos half an hour after getting up in the morning, I'm stuck with a headache for the rest of the day... But it's my only addiction since I cut down on PC gaming, so I guess I'll cut myself some slack.

Can be a bitch when travelling though.

I have one of those espresso kettle thingies. Once I put it on the stove, coffee and maximum heat, but without water... Twenty minutes later, surfing GG, I heard a "clonk" from the melted-off handle.   <- looked about like this on the side.

Reading threads like this makes me want to change from computer science to math and become a teacher.

Good luck, GameAh, and keep us posted!  smile
12  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / HL2 news - does this actuall make people feel better? on: October 13, 2004, 04:25:04 PM
Well, if they're real show-stoppers and it took four release candidates and who knows how many play-throughs to find them, it's actually a good sign, IMO. It could mean you can complete the game in many different ways.

I own an Alpha PAL8045 and am very satisfied. It takes some time to install because of the screw mounting, but it feels saver than clip-to-socket mounted heatsinks. And I can't hear it.   smile

2.) What do you want resserected out of Gone Gold?

A politics forum would be great. I can understand if you don't want to moderate it (*I* wouldn't), but maybe you'll find the ex-GG-R&P-mods willing to do so. It'll keep the community closer together, I think, if you can cater to as much of their daily needs as possible.

As for political debate injecting hate into other forums, I don't know (I registered on GG after the split), but I found GG to be a very nice place.

Whichever way you decide, I'll certainly stay here if the PC section stays alive. You and the crew here do an amazing job.  biggrin

I like it here. Excellent mod(s), warm welcome, and if they set up a PC specific forum or two, it'll be just like home. But with servers that aren't going down twice a day and a breathing frontpage. Who knows, maybe they'll even set up a politics forum for us (I can do without religous discussions).
16  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Single CG/GG Roll Call on: October 10, 2004, 09:09:02 AM
I've never been single in my life (imagine that), but when she's not around and the ceiling's falling on my head, I go for a ride on the motorcycle. Never failed to cheer me up so far after three months of owning a real cheap, 14 years old 125ccm and 5'000km of backroad riding!

I hear bikers like to socialize with other bikers just because they're bikers, but I never felt urge to check this out. I enjoy the waves I get though, even on my humble mount!

Hi all!

Another regugee here that took three days of homelessness to find these fora. Now I feel all warm inside.  biggrin
