Come on. This kind of venom and hatred belongs in the OO R&P cesspool.
That's kind of unnecessary isn't it. No, I don't believe it is unnecessary. R&P was invented because almost every thread in the CG EBG forum was becoming a platform for Bush/conservative bashers and Christian-haters. Moving that crap to its own place made EBG a much nicer place to be. As JLu has stated, New Orleans is in shambles, along with other areas of the Gulf coast. This is the time for concern, sympathy, and aid. Those who wish to use this as yet another excuse for politics should take their venom elsewhere. The people in need are important right now. Political agendas are not. Oh, okay. I just kinda thought OO and R&P bashing didn't have a place in this thread. My bad. Thanks for the info WBS and CS, I've made a donation to Noah's Wish and The Red Cross. I'll see what I can come up with in terms of the items you mentioned.

And as to the canadian army helping; frankly if you were hit with a glacier we'd be happy to help... but we're unfamiliar with this wa-ter thing.
Oh, that and we hate it when you bomb our troops and then sweep it under the rug. Yeah.

Yes, you are being silly. Quite a few countries have offered aid . From OO: Every single NATO ally has offered aid. France, the UK, and Germany have stepped forward with even more.
Russia has offered aid in the form of oil. Vladimir Putin sent a very moving note to the President.
Venezuela, as others in this thread have noted, have also offered aid.
The person who apparently didn't realize this is John McCafferty on CNN, who is bitching about the lack of aid. Sometimes switching around (in this case, to MSNBC (where this was all reported)) is a good idea!

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / New Oblivion Interview - Lots of new info!
|
on: August 29, 2005, 02:14:09 PM

So, here's a random question:
Which would look better - your PC running at a hopefully good frame rate at whatever resolution you play at (and AA/AF), or the Xbox 360 version running at 1920x1080 (that's 1080i) at what should be a solid frame rate?
If it wasn't for the mods, I'd get the Xbox 360 version in a heartbeat. If I had an HDTV then I might think about the 360 version. As is it, I'm updrading my computer to a 7800GT and a Athlon 64 4000+ (gotta try and catch Hetz). I'm pretty confident I'll be able to run the game as well, if not better, then someone with a 360.

Alright thanks mate. Me così felice You don't even sound at all like the old guy man. At least make an effort. You realize that threads he post in get derailed because you insist on responding every time with the same tired crap right? If you would just ignore him then threads could remain on topic. Is that really so hard? Back to Mario Baseball, the final few previews I saw sounded really good. A couple mentioned some control issues, but they also stated that once they played for a bit they got used to it. Hopefully that is the case, because I've been looking forward to this one for quite a while.

Oblivian and Gothic 3 having a screenshot war and we're the winners And our poor computers are the bitter, bitter losers. I really don't care about Oblivion's graphics if the game's going to run like ass well into next generation. Oh, and there's that little issue of Bethesda's last Elder Scrolls game's gameplay being less interesting than watching paint dry... Where are your Cheerios? I really have to go the bathroom.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / EA MVP Baseball 2005 vs. ESPN MLB 2K5 for a newbie?
|
on: August 19, 2005, 03:20:05 PM

Thanks for the replies. It looks like I will go with MVP -- too bad you can't hack the commentary and graphics from ESPN into MVP to get the best of both. If you have a good PC and get the PC version of MVP, I'm pretty sure you can get the ESPN graphics on it. I know you can get the Fox graphics for sure . gellar You can get graphics for any of the networks as well as the music from those networks. http://www.mvpmods.com is your best source for both PC and XBox MVP mods.

You want OOTP 6.5. There are some very good roster sets out there as well, some of them contain full MLB and minor league rosters. Check out http://www.ootpdevelopments.com and go to their Message Boards. There is a whole Mods board on there that lists most of them.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / What's wrong with "banned" Crowley?
|
on: August 04, 2005, 05:08:29 PM

Wow. This makes me glad that I almost never post at OO. Ditto. One reason among many I'm glad I never registered there. Yeah, because it's our fault this fucked up individual has decided to terrorize OO. As for why he's doing it, who knows. Around the time of the initial ban Crowley and I got into it and he's kind of had it out for me since then. In addition, he's petitioned (and been turned down) for his ban to be lifted on OO. His first wave of PM attacks came directly after his third try to get back on.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [RP] Hilary Clinton = Political Suicide?

For all the Valerie Plame/Karl Rove nonsense, can someone answer me this: why is a New York Times reporter sitting in JAIL right now for protecting a source involved in this case? Or is this just not of any significance whatsoever?
By the way, Raven, Rudy Giuliani would have been my answer as well. He'd smoke Hillary for that seat.
Mike He wasn't smoking her at the time he dropped out. In fact it was pretty much a dead heat as I recall.

You can make any jokes you want, but not everyone shares your sense of humor when it comes to this subject, and for those Americans who are getting a bird's eye view of just how destructive illegal immigration can be, you're dismissive attitude might be seen in poor taste. If someone is going to dismiss an entire subsection of people because of the actions of one, I'd consider that to be in poor taste. Whether they raped your child or not. The fact that the perpetrator was an illegal is incidental to his crime. I'm not a fan of illegal immigration and I think our borders are ridiculously porous. However, I find the thought of Texas being a "conquered" territory in some secret war to be absurd, and I'll call it as such. Very well said.

But you have a right to say whatever you want, and you don't need my permission to speak your mind, and I harbor no illusions that everyone will agree with my opinions, or my post, when it comes to this subject. I heard a white guy in Arkansas raped someone. We should get rid of all the white people in Arkansas. Destructive people, that's what they are.

I just picked up HoI 2 and it seems solid, haven't put a ton of time into it though since I also got GTA:SA.
One warning though, HoI 2 locks itself into 1024x768. So, if you have an LCD with a native resolution that is different, you'll need to use some community hacks to get the game looking decent.
Worst. Design. Decision. Ever.

Heh, odds are if they are banned from OO they are banned here too. Behavior doesn't change with the scenery. Not true. Its called "Peacedogging" for a reason. There is a cadre of people there who will never get banned, no matter what they do or say, and that group enjoys exploiting the fact. It's the entire reason OO exists, IMHO. Yeah, that's pretty much the best description of GG/OO I've ever read. We are the Ka-Tet.
