I don't think you fully understand what the government is looking for.

They want the queries, not the means for getting them.

I remember them saying that 1080p was TRUE HD. I don't know if they ever came out and said that 720p wasn't real HD, but I do know they kept hammering home the point that 1080p was TRUE HD (according to them at least).

Ok that I can believe.

Quote from: "Jumangi"
Which was funny since Sony makes 720p TV's that they market as HDTV's. Just more of the right hand not knowing what the left is saying when it comes to Sony.

Yeah that's why I can't see them saying 720p isn't HD.

I would expect them to totally play up 1080p though (as Hetz mentioned), since it a) would sell more PS3s, and b) sell more TVs.

8609  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Hurray! G4 to get even worse!!!! on: February 10, 2006, 05:23:26 AM
Ok... where to start?

1) Triumph is fucking funny.  I'm happy he's on any channel.
2) I know I'm in the minority, but Happy Tree Friends and Friends cracks me up
3) Reruns of The Man Show sucks.  That show is really only funny the first time through.  It also does poorly when you watch them back to back.
4) Morgan Webb is kinda cute, but she has a SPECTACULAR rack.
5) I love Diane Mizota.

As far as G4 goes, I don't really think it's better or worse than it was before.  I watch it just as much now as I ever have (which is to say: not a lot).

I exited a vehicle which was used in a crime (the high speed chase), traveling 100+ in a neighborhood at night.  No reason at all for the cop to be jacked up.

Before anyone gets me wrong, Im not saying the cop did the right thing, but to pretend your mother theresa is just bullshit.  You put yourself in these situations, accidents can happen, particularly from an armed man who may be fearing for his own life.

I dunno.  If I'm in a car where my buddy decides to be an asshole, I pretty much have no choice but to hold the fuck on and pray I don't get shot by some stupid fuck cop or killed by my moron friend.

If you cannot control your adrenaline to act rationally in this situation, that guy shouldn't be a cop.  Period.

Right now just the Mario Kart bundle.  When I get off my lazy ass and go to the store, I'll buy FF IV and Advance Wars: DS.  Maybe even that Fire Emblem game everyone is raving about.

And I called United.  They want $1500 round trip (or a small army of my FF miles) to bump me to business class.  I'm sure I can do better trying to upgrade at the gate.  I mean shit, who flies to London from SFO the day before the Superbowl?

8619  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Have my first post-college job interview - need tips! on: January 17, 2006, 04:02:02 AM
Just two pieces of advice:

1) Be natural.  If you're normally a joking kinda guy, do it at the interview.  If you're naturally very straight and to the point, be that.  Remember that the interview is a 2 way street... they have to find out if they want you to work there and you have to find out if you want to work there.  Nothing sucks worse than being at a place where you can't be yourself.

2) Research, research, research.  Know as much as you can about the job you're applying for.  Know even more about the company.  Prepare a list of 5-10 questions you want answered about the company/position.  Not only does it make you look good, but it also will give you a good idea whether or not it's a place you want to be.

Good luck.

For those that have both PGR3 and Need4Speed, which one do you prefer?

i have NFS:MW for PC and PGR3, and it's honestly a tough comparison in my mind...they're two extremely different games.  NFS is definitely a more thrilling, adrenaline-pumping experience, while PGR3 is less exciting but more of a precision/skill game.  i enjoy the challenge of PGR3, but it's also a heck of a lot of fun to run from (and destroy) the cops in NFS without any concern for your own car.  i guess the better game really depends on your own tastes...both are good racers, but they're clearly aimed at different crowds.

Agreed.  I have both and play them equally.

1) Could you possibly centered for those people using non-standard browser resolutions?

2) On the front page, I don't like how the 2nd (lower) quote box blends with the bottom table.  It doesn't match the rest of the site, I think.

8629  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Gaming in Hi Def: How do I tell the difference? on: January 09, 2006, 03:23:26 AM
On an XBox, the difference between 480p and 480i honestly isn't that great.  The colors will be a bit better due to using higher quality cables, but you won't see a huge jump in graphic quality until you play games that are higher  resolution.  Check out X-Men Legends for a good example of that.

VY's talent probably won't translate directly into the NFL, but that doesn't mean there aren't NFL GMs salivating over him now.

I was trying to remember last night, how many running or scrambling QBs have won the Superbowl in the last 20 years?  I can’t think of any off the top of my head.

Steve Young.

Werd.  Though every scrambling QB is compared to Steve Young.  I think only Vince has a chance to live up to that.  He can actually throw a ball and is tough as nails.

I still worry for his safety though.  NFL Linebackers aren't going to miss tackles.

8637  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / USC/Texas on: January 05, 2006, 06:02:11 AM
Yeah it just doesn't translate.  I mean Reggie Bush, for example, will be a quality NFL running back, but he can't possibly dominate in the bigs like he did in college.  He's running behind a gigantic offensive line that dwarfs 90% of the competition.

It's even worse for VY.  He's faster than 99% of the guys on the field.  He's bigger and stronger than more than half of them.  He won't have that kind of advantage in the NFL.

gellar
8638  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / USC/Texas on: January 05, 2006, 05:49:35 AM

VY is the man, that was amazing to watch.  If he doesn't leave for the NFL he's crazy.  There are NFL GMs drooling over this guy tonight.  How in the world did he stay so level-headed and calm on that last drive??  He looked like a seasoned pro driving his team down for the win.  250+ passing yards and 200 rushing yards?  That's crazy.

The problem is... his skill won't translate to the NFL.  At best he is Donovan McNabb.  The NFL defenses are SO MUCH FASTER that he won't just be able to outrun them.  A lot of his poise, I'd gather, comes from knowing that when it comes down to it, he's the best damn athlete on that field.  He won't have that in the NFL.  He'll be exciting to watch for sure, but he won't come to the same level of success as an NFL QB as a pocket passer.  In the draft, even trying to put aside my USC homerism, I'd still take Leinart over Young.

I'd love to be proven wrong though, he is fantastic to watch.

Yup. Vince Young won the Rose Bowl, not Texas. I need to amend my post because its obvious that Texas is just a front for Vince Young. Everytime it was "on the line," I'd start a mental count on how long before Young would run it in.

I totally agree... not that there's anything really wrong with that though.  The guy deserves this win.

Ultimately, USC had a few too many mistakes on offense to pull this off.  Namely, Bush's fumble.  You can't do that and beat Vince Young.
