8361  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Ever bought anything by Bose? on: July 10, 2006, 04:53:58 PM
I've always been of the mind of "if they sound good to you, then they sound good."

That being said, however, Bose sucks balls.

For me the dissapointment was the other fight.

Pretty much.

Shamrock was going to get stopped anyway... he was completely out of it and was not defending himself at all.  I would have liked to see Tito pound him some more, but oh well.

The "main event" itself was a total waste and bore.  I used to enjoy Andrei... not so much anymore.

I did find it amusing, however, that all of the highlights of the night (Knockout, Submission) were during fights that WERE NOT TELEVISED.

Lovely.

Eh, I really liked the first (though not quite loved) and found this one only passable.  It was overbloated all around.  I rewatched the first one last night after viewing DMC, it is definitely the far superior film in my eyes.

FAR superior.  The 2nd one was merely ok, I think.  Considering how I much I was looking forward to it, I couldn't help but feel disappointed.

I don't know if that would be true in real life, but I do know the Hornet is praised for its turning ability.

I thought the Hornet was basically a pig in the sky.  The F-16 was always the best turning/quickest fighter around in my recollections.  Unless the Super Hornets changed this.  The Hornets were always the jack of all trades, good at nothing type fighters, that came from a bloated budget.  Never an impressive plane.

A good buddy of mine flies a Hornet (not sure if its a Super Hornet or not) and he'd probably kill you if you said that to him in person. slywink

On the head-scratcher side, I'm not sure why you would ever use the F/A-18 Hornet.  According to the stats it's a poor man's Falcon, but you get it after the Falcon.  I don't get it.

That's gotta be an in game mistake... in real life, the Hornet stomps all over the Falcon in damn near every engagement possible.

Heh... oddly enough, I just posted about this in the thread in the Sports Forum.

I think for your purposes, it'll be quite fine.  Soccer novices can get pretty lost in a game like Winning 11, and maybe this will be a good step towards that once it's finally released for the 360.

I'd pick it up.

I actually picked this up yesterday after not finding an XBox copy of WE9 anywhere and honestly... I like it.

Presentation is top notch, and it plays a decent game of soccer.  Not great, but pretty good.  I also like the WC mode, and this seems like it will happily tide me over till WE hits the 360.

Second, he or anyone else, should be allowed to ride a motorcycle without a helmet whenever they freaking want....this is America.

So long as I'm allowed to call you a bloody idiot for doing so, I'm cool with that slywink.

Quote
Because riding a motorcycle is inherently dangerous to begin with. If you're going to be afraid of "what ifs" then you shouldn't be riding, or doing ANYTHING remotely "dangerous" then. Go live in a rubber freaking house.

There is a difference between being Captain Safety and not being a loon.  If you were to jump out of a plane, would you not double check to see that your parachute was attached properly?

Quote
Had Ben been in this accident and injured his throwing arm instead, none of this crap about helmets would even come up.

No, instead we'd be ripping him for not wearing full leathers.

Quote
The farce that riding helmetless raises everyone insurance rates is obvious.....do you think rates would come down if the no-helmet law was reversed? Fuck no. Insurance companies use stuff like this as a convenient way of keeping rates up, because they HATE that people do ANYTHING that might cost them some medical bills. Insurance companies are NOT running my life, like they want to.

Likely true.

Quote
Just living can be dangerous..when it's your time, there's nothing you can do about it to stop it. I had a rider killed right in front of my house a couple years ago. He was wearing a helmet, but it didn't matter since his body was twisted up like a pretzel after he slid underneath a Ford F150.

For every example you have of a rider dying with a helmet, I'm certain there is an example of a rider being saved by wearing one.

Quote
Thousands more people are killed in car accidents WHILE WEARING SEAT BELTS than helmetless motorcyclists.

Anecdotal statistic of a drastically larger sample size.  Your point is what?

Quote
Seat belt laws for cars are BULLSHIT. I'm a criminal now if not wearing a seatbelt? C'mon  It should be a CHOICE, and not required.

Again... can't say I totally disagee with this, so long as we can call you an idiot and not treat you with public funds when you are found injured.

Quote
I've been riding for 24 years. I've owned dozens of different bikes, and even drag-raced some of them. I've been down on the pavement two times, and even flipped over a car's hood one time. I was required to wear a helmet for the first 16 or so years of that riding time, but since this law has been reversed, I will continue to ride without one.....BECAUSE I WANT TOO.

Baffling, but totally your choice (in the state of PA).

On a motorcycle related note.  california has a no helmet law, dont they?  Either way.  I know there are a few states that do.  Almost of them, when they show people on bikes, the guys are wearing helmets.  It seems to me that most smart riders, even when they have the option to NOT wear a helmet, DO.

We are required to wear helmets in California.

I think anyone who rides without one deserves what they get.  It's absolute lunacy to not.

I cannot fathom why anyone, when doing something inherently dangerous, won't do something that is proven to make it safer.

Sadly, no, as I was only allocated $15k OTD to play with. I did drive a MKV manual a few months ago, though.

Drove a DSG A3 for fun, too. Pretty cool.

I ended up getting an 02 GTI. A bit of an upgrade from my 01 (HP and miles-wise), but not my first color choice.

What the heck happened to the G35?

The Civic is a nice, practical car (I'm partial to the Fit, myself), but it's about as far away from a performance sedan as you can get.

However, it's a nice little family econobox that will serve you very well.  It does need a HUGE spoiler, melon shooter exhaust, and many stickarz though.

In fact, the only thing I didn't like about the DC was the controller.  Ugh.  What a horribly uncomfortable piece of crap.

You take that back, right now!   Seriously, the VMU was the best peripheral in gaming history.  I remember taking it to Vegas with the Skies of Arcadia minigames on it (which you could use to gain exp for your character away from the game) and got all the way to level 100 on it.  Awesome.

The VMU was a cute idea that never actually did anything significant.

The controller was an atrocity towards man.  I have yet to find a creature with the hands they designed that thing for.  Crazy Taxi would leave me with a deformed claw of a hand for a good 3 or 4 hours after I played the game.
