That sucks, Frost. I wonder what happened there. Have you tried installing the games anyway? In Impulse I've never had to enter a code, they're always applied automatically.
Unfortunately I'm pretty sure Stardock's support don't work on weekends so I wouldn't expect a reply until Monday at the earliest.
It appears you are correct, sir, because I haven't heard squat from them yet.

I remember in the very early 90's going into a Software Etc and writing stuff down from the hint book to Zelda: A Link to the Past. Don't recall what problem I was having but the guy caught me and asked me to stop Dang! You got caught by da man.

Judging by this and Homefront (set in 2027), it doesn't sound like 2025-2035 is going to be a very happy time? What are you talking about? The world is ending in 2012. Or was it Y2K?

I don't know if this is some sort of glitch or what, but if you click on the game, it shows that you own it, and can download it. It will show it as $14.99, but click on it, and the next screen will say you own it. Click the box to play, and it will begin downloading.

... That is, of course, unless you keep your system around for that long and can still keep it running at that point. Unlikely at best, and if you do you represent such a small fraction of gamers that it's not even worth bringing into a serious discussion about the future of gaming.
I guess I'm one of that very small fraction then. While I haven't kept every single system I've ever owned since 1993, I have always known that there was a good chance that my old games would not work on new hardware and OS's. So, having the love that I've always had of revisiting my old games, I do keep a selection of systems around (at least one of every DOS/Windows OS since 1993) I have to ask. Do you have an entire room of your house dedicated to your setup of rigs?

When Steam first came out, I didn't like it either. But after using it for awhile and giving it a real chance, I really like it. I don't have boxes and boxes of games to store and search through when I want to replay a game. It's like Steam stores it all for me. And Steam automatically updates my games with patches, so I don't have to search around the Internet to find the correct patch. And then they have the friend system so you can see what your friends are playing and one click to automatically join them on whatever server they are playing on. Steam is much improved since it first came out, and runs smooth.
If you haven't used Steam in the past two years, you wouldn't know how reliable and smooth it's become.

Pricing? Ha! For one thing, Valve seem to think that £1=$1=€1. Yeah, go fuck yourselves, Valve. By the way, pricing is slightly less of an issue here because all DD platforms' pricing is absolutely ludicrous in the UK. It's almost always cheaper to go retail which suits me fine, because I'd rather have the box, disc, manual etc anyway.
Their regular prices for games are not good, but whey they run their specials and sales, the prices are excellent.

Had my first crash in Primm. Looking around it seems like that area is buggy right now.
*Sigh* I can't believe I'm going to open my mouth on this, but I haven't had one crash. Everything has been running very well (minus minor stutter issues after conversations) on my rig; i7 920, 9gb ram, windows 7, and a GTX260.

While the first couple hours were good, but the last hour has been a complete mess:
- Putting on a Powder Ganger outfit causes about half the baddies to ignore me, while the other half still shoot me on sight.
- Completed a quest step and immediately saved. CTD about 10 minutes later, and when I rebooted, the quest was gone and the NPC (who had previously run away once I had talked to him) was suddenly back. Had to talk to him again to get the quest a second time.
I think it tells you that when you wear a disguise like the power ganger outfit, you'll fool some people but won't fool certain others like security guards for their gang, which probably explains that situation. The quick save is a known bug. I've found that quick saves work ok, but don't exit out of your game without doing a full regular save. I suppose if you're having crashing issues, just do regular saves until a patch fixes the problems.

My only annoyance with the Steam linkage is if they hose PC users by forcing them to wait until mid-day on the 19th to play the game. Because right now that is what Steam's unlock countdown for the game is pointing to despite the fact that apparently just about every GameStop in my area is doing a midnight launch for the title.
They announced on the official boards tonight that the Steam countdown is no longer accurate. In the Americas, Steam will unlock at 1201AM PST on the 19th. The rest of the world will see Steam unlock at 1201AM GMT on the 22nd. Guess I'm going to buy this at midnight after all. why not buy now and get pre order bonus gear than. it says 6 more hours, and it's 9 pm on east coast now. i'll be asleep and will have to wait until after work tomorrow to play it.

I don't see why they'd change it from Fallout 3, which was save anywhere.
Alpha Protocol? What does that have to do with Fallout? New Vegas is a total conversion for Fallout 3. Case closed. Nobody's talking about it because there's no reason to. Total-schmotal. Idiot (and I am being polite) designers who think that chapter saves are a good thing (in any game) can break anything, total conversion or not. And after AP I have zero faith in these guys. Come on, the Fallout 3 devs acknowledged that it was a big mistake to not allow playing after the main mission was done, and rectified it in an expansion. What lesson did Obsidian learn from the player outrage over the "no free roam after ending" issue in Fallout 3? Of course, no free roam after ending in NV. Yes, I am sure they are dying to tell a story nobody cares much about, and I wouldn't be surprised if they considered their Vision(tm) > players' expectations from a Fallout 3 title. And who made you boss to close cases? Actually, we took a vote and and gave TiLT case closing powers. You were probably not here that day.

also, if you want to save a few bucks, and get double the RAM, but no DX 10 card, you could buy a refurb. RevonateI bought mine from them maybe six months or more ago and so far everything's been great for me. YMMV. P.S. Sorry for the multiple posts, my brain could only seem to hold one idea at a time today

you may find that building that to spec directly on Cyberpower's website may give you a better price, especially if their "myspace" or "twitter" coupons still work.

I believe that at worst, there may be a number of companies that abandon ship and just develop games for consoles only, but that will leave the remaining companies making more profit and keeping PC gaming going.

Not sure I'm getting the gist of what you're saying. You want a server that only serves you? If that's the case, this would never be cost effective for a company.
As far as being a gamer though, of course this would be excellent.
Forgive the poor comparison, but isn't this sort of what that game "Animal Crossing" does? The world continues to change or go on when you're not playing?

maybe i'm wrong, but it almost sounds like a zombie based X-com type of game. Turn based, upping stats based on performance, protecting your shelter/base, managing resources.
Sounds like it could be excellent, but I too was initially hoping for a third person RPG. I wanted a Fort Zombie that was done right.
