Smart move from Microsoft if true. I'm sure Europeans are addicted to FIFA on the other hand, what is the sense in doing that if you are selling all that you can produce? Surely MS has sold out their pre-orders in Europe. Keep the pressure on, MS! Up the ante! I want to see a $500 Vita/PS4 bundle!

The idea would be to stop give people an incentive to wait and not get a PS4, I'm not sure it's really going to work though.

Admittedly, almost all those early 360 JRPG studios have either disappeared, or just haven't done anything interesting since. I can't remember a single one that's got a game

So MS gained nothing in paying some Japanese devs to make a few games for them.. The 360 has done nothing in Japan yet they are trying it again? When will they realize its just not going to happen for them or any outside company when it comes to the video game market there.

I think this will be more about getting a Japanese game that was a cult success in the US, like a Vanquish 2 perhaps.

Any particular reason?  It's not like anything is worse now than it was before.

I'd argue things are actually better, but MS has shown a clear lack of vision for their product.  They keep waffling about changing stances.  I imagine the MS offices are like The Thick of It these days, I wonder if they have a Malcolm Tucker...

No that just makes them competitive.  All these changes have been because they lost a ton of ground to the PS4, they aren't doing them because they are winning.   Pre-orders must have been more bleak than I thought.

And if you don't know what MUGEN is, it's a fighting engine where the community makes the characters, so basically ripoffs from every other fighting game, but also every anime, or cartoon or what have you.  So if you ever wanted to see Iron Man fight Winnie the Pooh, or Goku fight Pikachu, this has it.

While this is good news, they really need to just sit down and think long and hard about all the concessions they're going to do for the rest of the year and do them all at once.  Doing them piecemeal here and there just makes them look like they're scrambling out of desperation.

I don't know if this guy has been said yet,but apparently Peter Capaldi is currently favourite

The Doctor will be revealed live, and be interviewed by Zoe Ball. The other names on the bookies' shortlist? They include Daniel Rigby, Ben Daniels, Rory Kinnear, Idris Elba, John Hurt (!), Benedict Cumberbatch and Andrew Scott.

Truthfully, though, can you remember the last time the bookies got this one right? We'll see you back here on Sunday night to see who wins out. If the 100/1 outside, Jason Statham, prevails, you won't hear the end of it from us....

I saw the Capaldi rumor days ago, people seem to be switching to Chris O'dowd now though.

So I'm running around with my recon at low levels, consistently getting best recon round after round, and I'm pretty sure this came down to two things.  One, I understand objectives, crazy how many people don't.  Two, I'm using Oracle and not Cloak.  Every other recon in game is using Cloak it seems, and I'm not surprised, I could have predicted that, but Oracle is awesome.  Situational awareness for you and your team, that's hard to beat.

Whatever its merits, Pacific Rim is a domestic box office disaster of epic proportions ($190M budget, $84M in North America, only $7.5M this past weekend):

It has pulled in $140M in foreign markets, so the overseas biz may at least get it to the break even point (usually you tack on maybe $100M or more in marketing costs when calculating that) and prevent it from being a Lone Ranger-size disaster. It's getting out-grossed by Grown Ups 2, which is... sad.

My college pal and I were going to see Pacific Rim Saturday, but most theaters in our area seem in a rush to pull it off screens so it just wasn't on a truly big screen near us any more. I would've caught it opening weekend, just didn't expect its star to fall so fast, so to speak.

It's not a disaster, RIPD is a disaster.   PR may still turn a profit WW (going to be close) and should be more than ok with merchandise and home release.  This will sell a nice amount of Blu-Rays I think.  Still a sequel is going to be quite the longshot, but hey Dredd might get one, so who knows.

Penny Arcade Report gave this some love, albeit with a "it's broken" caveat:
*fwiw, most of the commenters are of the "how many years does it take to fix this thing?" ilk.

I'm of the feeling that any game is better with jetpacks in it, and not enough games use them. Outside of Relic's Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, not enough games in recent years -- that I've gotten to try anyway -- make full use of them in a fun way.

Section 8: Prejudice was pretty good.

New England is now Japan?

What a weird jump to make.  My comment was as someone that grew up in NE, I don't see how you would take away from it that NE was the inspiration for the movie, that is clearly 60s/70s Kaiju movies along with the Go Nagai Super Robot cartoons (he's thanked in the credits too btw)   Anyhoo, Force Five was bizarrely mostly shown only in NE in the US.

And for good measure Creature Double Feature

This seems to be a prevailing issue, at least for me, with a lot of third-person action games. From Batman, to Tomb Raider, and now The Last of Us. I keep playing them and asking myself why everyone loves them so much because, while the characters and story are usually great, I'm always at odds with the general controls, combat and the level design (from an actual design perspective, not aesthetic).

It doesn't apply to every game in this genre though, I absolutely loved the latest DMC.
It sounds more that you don't like stealth mechanics as all three of the games you listed feature them.   DMC is just a straight up brawler pretty much.

At a certain point I felt like I was playing
Spoiler for Hiden:
Hanna: the videogame.  I pretty much stealth killed everyone in that Ellie segment with the exception of the forced shooting defense bit...

My only real complaint, is Naughtydog still is way too in love with combat waves,  there are a lot less in this game than any of their others, which makes the few times they pop up really stand out, especially as you can't really stealth those.   The bits where you have to fend of waves of bandits or infected are the worst moments in the game.

It's a requirement to use remote play, but it was also a requirement to use motion controls in games on the PS3 for a while, look how that turned out.

Everyone except first party developers will just put in the barest feature to fulfill that requirement and move on. On the other hand, I'm really looking forward to seeing what first parties will do with this.
It's not a requirement, PS4 automatically supports remote play.  Sony recommends that developers think about how best to map the controls over but that's about it.

I loved this game and I wasn't really that big of a fan of the Uncharted games, thinking 2 was overrated but still good, and 3 was in fact kind of just bad.   This was another game with a good transition from quiet to loud, reminded me a bit of Tomb Raider in that regards, though more strongly focused on the stealth side.  I also loved the dilapidated world.
