Today I had the day off and while my plan was to do stuff around the house at lunch I popped on this new Anime show Sword Star Online which appeared over the weekend too. 30 minute shows are perfect for lunch so thought I'd check it out. And then the rest of the day was gone as I binge watched a bunch of episodes. It's a totally geeky show but I was loving it - and if you've played MMOs with any regularity you would probably get a kick out of it too.

How's this compare to Log Horizon?  Which is another another anime about people getting stuck in an MMO world.

I'm assuming you've all downloaded the latest patch and linked your PSN id up with http://infamouspapertrail.com/ to get extra Karma?

I'm more interested in the missions themselves and maybe if they let us use Paper as a power.  I have no problem earning Karma in game.  Note it's karma and not shards, and there's essentially an infinite supply of karma in game.

Hyper Light Drifter, which is coming to everything now that it finally got announced for XB1 as well, I think is one to watch.

Odd then, because I've seen streams of playing with powers in missions out of the correct timeline.

But all searches indicate there's no new game plus, so there's probably a cheat or just odd positioning.

Story missions?  Game opens up post game so you can finish whatever DUP stuff you haven't done with all the powers.  Also maybe you are thinking of the demo build that was used in all the press videos where it seemed they had neon and smoke for the first Seattle mission.

As TiLT said, at 30% you can evict them.  The phone icon on your minimap is where you initiate the mission to do so.

While I like Infamous a ton, its LED use is terrible, at least in the start.  It defaults to bright white then changes to blue or red with your Karma, and while I generally haven't
had screen glare issues with the light, here it was actually noticeable as it was so damn bright.  Bring on the dimmer option!

Anyone else find the game hard? I'm dying, a lot. Then again I only completed the first city mission (Queen Anne district) and haven't unlocked anymore powers.
By powers do you just mean smoke, or the subset of smoke powers?  You really need to have the full compliment of skills for a power if you don't and should work towards that.  The other actual powers don't change the difficulty much since you can only have one equipped at a time.

Ya I meant smoke. Until this thread I didn't know you could get more than smoke.

Also, are shards plentiful enough that you can upgrade everything or do you need to be choosy as to which subset of powers you want to max out?

According to Jeff during the Giantbomb quicklook (and spoiler averse they show the third power) you get enough shards to upgrade all of the skills for single alignment in a playthrough.  So all good or all evil.

Third power from the skill tree looks more interesting on the evil side, though the good side has a bit of game play changer element to it.

Delsin and Reggie are way better protagonists than Cole and Zeke, the improvement there might even be greater than the improvement of graphics from the old games to this.

I'm having a great time with the game so far.  Just unlocked Neon.  Interesting that you can only have one power at a time, I may have read that at some point but I was still thinking you could switch on the fly with a button press.  Here you can still switch but need to find a resource first, so if you are using Smoke and want to use Neon better find a neon sign which are reasonably abundant but you're not going to be pulling off any smoke/neon/whatever combo moves.   I could stare at the effect for draining neon all day.

I wonder if Titanfall 2 will come to the PS4? Titanfall is practically the sole reason for the Xbone having sold any units. I wonder if Microsoft will give a blank check for it in order to get complete exclusivity? I'm guessing Respawn isn't a publicly traded company so they can't go hostile take over route but they could offer the guys in charge an insane amount of money.

I think that's a mischaracterization.  Xbox was going to sell a reasonable amount of units just based on brand loyalty and online history (friends, gamerscore, etc)

The best approach to reviews is to find a small group of reviewers you like and follow them to where you understand their preferences.  Then you should ideally be able to get insight on to how their tastes mesh with yours, and where you agree/disagree with them as well as their general idiosyncrasies in taste.   Metascores and looking at random reviews I feel isn't entirely useful except in extreme cases.

I'll still buy it on XB1, unless the graphical difference is amazing. I trust MS's network/server infrastructure way more than Sony's.

If MS hadn't gotten exclusivity for TF1, wouldn't the PS4 version still have been played on the same Azure servers?

Far as I know there's no reason they can't use Azure for PS4 or Wii games but I doubt they'll get the type of discount they are getting with being an Xbox/PC exclusive.

Those reviews are pretty good I thought.

Ok, apparently I'm failing at communication today.  The game is getting great reviews, but I was expecting it to get "omg awesome omg omg" reviews.  This looks like an instabuy if you have a PS4, and I'll buy it as soon as I get a PS4, but without the "omg awesome omg omg" reviews I can't quite justify dropping another $400 so soon after getting the XB1.  That's all.  I'm not trying to say it's getting bad reviews.

If I post more in this thread, it's because it's a lot more fun to talk about this game than on other forums where there's a more negative ratio of people who love the game to people who think it's the biggest flop ever.

Anyone experience the issue where their PS4 turns on randomly when powered off, spits the disc out, and then won't let you put it back in until you unplug it? Seems to be a common problem and now my system is affected. May need to ship back for replacement.

Does that do it if you shut it down, or is it just suspended?

I wouldn't mind seeing more weapons in an update, but 10 weapons seems fine to me because they've hit just about every shooter weapon archetype.

Of the modern military shooter yeah, but go back and play some UT and you realize how many weapon types are missing these days.  Not an indictment of TF specifically but more of the genre as a whole and the direction it's moved in over the years to being all hitscan all the time.  Some of the Titan weapons stray from the norm here though, so that's good.

I barely even dabbled in UT.  Any weapon types in particular you think Titanfall should copy from it?

That's a harder question to answer as the game is sort of designed around the weapon set, but I generally miss things like the Flak Cannon, Shock Rifle, Ripper, Pulse Gun, and Bio Rifle (Goop Gun).  Nevermind that all these guns had alt fire, some where it defined the gun.  Shock Rifle fired either a slow moving projectile or a hitscan energy beam, but the real use of the gun was to fire the slow moving projectile and then to shoot THAT with the hitscan beam which caused a large explosion.  Goop gun shot slime that stuck to walls, the Flak cannon shot a wave of shrapnel that on the surface was like a shotgun, except you could bounce the shrapnel off walls.   Does any of that have a place in TF, I don't know, but in general we've really moved backwards in regards to weapon variety.

Like I said, TF is bit better on the Titan side with things like the triple threat and arc cannon.

It also occurs to me that Halo has been pretty decent with having some interesting weapons like the needler.

I do wish they would do something like Section 8 or whatever it was called though and instead of different game modes just have the objectives dynamically evolve as you play.  I really enjoyed that.

Killzone does this too though a bit different from Section 8, where in Section 8 they were sort of bonus objectives, while in Killzone they change between gametypes, so it would go from Domination to TDM to CTF in random order.   I like that a lot in both those games MP wish more would start doing that.
