So... I'm assuming in order to play the beta you have to have a PSN Subscription is that correct?

Anyone?

I don't know about Beta, but the Alpha let you play without PS+ and if you were a member, but there were other areas that were open to you if you are a subscriber.

ok.  I don't have a sub yet, and the games that I have I don't have any interest yet, so I'm holding out until I have to.  I don't have a problem paying for the service, just don't want to pay for it when I'm not using it smile

Keep in mind the "free" games you get monthly with plus.  Right now it's Strider and Towerfall.

Am I wrong to think that this game looks a lot like Borderlands as far as the gameplay goes or is there more to it?

There's a bit more to it.  It's like Borderlands with the FPS/RPG mechanics but there's more MMO to this.  You can randomly come across other players in the environment and there are Guild Wars 2 style area events.

Also bonus, here's a video I did testing out an iphone stop motion app.  Sadly this figure only has a robot and guardian mode.

For the Robotech only folks, Protoculture isn't remotely the same.  It's only in Macross, for one, and it's neither a plant or energy source, but is as its name implies, the first culture, basically think Precursors or Forerunners.

Remotely the same as what?  My hypothetical Volt-Go-Formers show?

Between Macross, Southern Cross, MOSPEADA and Robotech.   Protoculture is the through line between the series in the US adaptation, but is only actually present in Macross as a term and there it means something else entirely.  Southern Cross does have the Flowers of Light though which basically do behave as what is presented in Robotech as Protoculture.  Neither are present in MOSPEADA.

I may be missing what you're trying to say, but hypothetically you could just find some way to bring the Matrix of Leadership into GoBots and Voltron to have a similar tie-together.

Ok, I really can't tell if you're just being intentionally daft now as you sometimes do.  This had nothing to do with your hypothetical show.  I was pointing out one of the major rewrites that was done for the US version to try and tie them all together.  If you were a big fan of the series, and maybe played the Palladium Robotech P&P RPG, you knew what Protoculture was, except that wasn't what it was supposed to be at all.

The downside, as I understand it, is that Harmony Gold is preventing any of the real Macross sequels (of which there were several in Japan) from coming out to the US.  Macross, I believe, is the only one of the series to get proper sequels to the original Japanese show as well.

One interesting thing from the originals is that Genesis Climber MOSPEADA (Invid Invasion) released before Super Dimension Southern Cross and wasn't part of the Super Dimension series.  The Super Dimension shows consisted of
Super Dimension Fortress Macross
Super Dimension Century Orguss
Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross

Story wise, the 3 Super Dimension series were unrelated, but similar in themes.  Orguss was dropped entirely from Robotech, with them using the earlier released MOSPEADA to be the final segment of the show.

I actually have an Orguss action figure at home, even though I didn't know what it was until years after I got it.

Orguss

Side note on the Native American / Indian.  Upon moving to New Mexico I learned that the Indians here prefer to be called Indians.  All the references you see around here pretty much all say Indian, from Indian tacos to Indian dances to the Indian Culture Center.  Generally, they think "Native American" is a stupid term.  Using just "Native" is acceptable.

I think I'm going to just rent games until Destiny comes out.  I don't expect this to be my primary game system.

Is there a bigoted slur or profanity in the name BET? If so, you could complain that it should not be granted a trademark. Otherwise, the comparison falls flat.

There is no White Entertainment Channel......or any other race-only-in-name channel that i'm aware of. Why is a minority allowed to break their own moral-rule?

Just the fact that there is no WET Channel proves that therwe should be no BET, if we're gonna play by the PC-crowd, racism rules.

I thought a hands off approach on government regulations was a conservative principle.  All we are talking about here is the deregulation of the usage of Redskins as applied to sports teams.  Shouldn't you be in favor?

Deregulated? Umm, no.....that would mean they can use whatever name they please.

The way it should be.

But they can.  No one is making them change the name, the government is just saying they will no longer help them in instances where other parties name their teams the Redskins, or produce Redskin jerseys etc.  The government is saying, hey, you are on your own if you want to go with that.

Really, people that are upset about the trademark rejection are in fact arguing for government involvement.

The biggest problem I have with it is that we have a branch of the government deciding what is and isn't "offensive" based on speech. If you guys so clearly want to believe in the free market then why can't the USPTO sit back and watch the trademark wither away because the American people don't buy the products it's associated with? As it stands the people and our free market justify its existence. Sad but true.

Is the name offensive? Sure it is. But why should the government tell us what is and what isn't offensive when it comes to trademarks attached to a product?

The government didn't just decide this on their own, a group of Native Americans brought suit against the trademark, and while our government is a majority rule, it is also tasked with the protection of the minority.   Here's Thomas Jefferson on it

Quote
All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will, to be rightful, must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal laws must protect, and to violate which would be oppression.

Of course we need to bring about 60 High Schools that have the Redskins name under the thumb of the McLiberalism Junta as well.

Refusing to bow to political correctness are the communists of this age.

If you can't see the difference between calling a Blackhawk tribal member a Blackhawk versus a Redskin you're better off not bringing attention to that.

That's actually named after a WW1 army division's nickname that itself was named after a chief not a tribe.

During World War I, McLaughlin had served as a commander in the 333rd Machine Gun Battalion of the 86th Division of the U.S. Army. Members of his division called themselves Black Hawks in honor of the Sauk Indian chief who sided with the British in the War of 1812. Surely, the Major felt, it would be a fitting name for the newest entry into the National Hockey League.

While some controversy could be made out of those, none of them are generally considered a slur as is the case with redskin.
