Any time a game uses the word "Metroidvania" to describe its gameplay I am instantly interested and there are 2 of them on that list.
Chasm too, just with procedurally generated levels.

PewDiePie, who is pretty much posting videos of him playing games, has a video with close to 50 million views and his channel has over 26 million subscribers.  Think about that.

It's more 16bit, genesis/snes v. NES/Master System.

As for the game, my early complaint is that I wish you could cast spells on diagonals.

Guys, seriously. The new Spiderman game is made by Activision and is a movie tie-in. That means it's shovelware. Activision has done this several times before. They quickly develop a game with as little resources as possible and shove it out at a time when they think they'll get the most sales from naive customers.

If you love this industry, don't buy that game. You'll be sending Activision all the wrong signals.

We know all that, the game was delayed with no release date on XB1 and preorders were cancelled at several online sites.  Now the digital version has showed up day and date with the other versions, and there's a new release date of July (on Amazon) for the physical copy.  The fact that it's shovelware doesn't make what's going on with the XB1 version any less weird or interesting.

Rumor has it that they are working on a dramatic take on their original character- Crash Bandicoot.

Is this for real?

It's a real rumor, yes.

I loved the PSX games so I'm up for a new one.

Well minus the "dramatic take" bit.   In one of the Sony PS4 vids there's this sign.

This seems to be the new hotness.  From Rocketcat, who did Mage Gauntlet, Punch Quest etc.

Most closely resembles Mage Gauntlet, but it has procedural levels and perma death (you've been warned Ritt!)

Child of Light is reviewing well with 8s most places.  Edge dinged it hard as did Polygon.  Now I've commented here before about what I think of Polygon, consider this, the CoL review actually caused another developer of a different game to write a critique of the Polygon review   http://zeboyd.com/2014/04/28/a-review-of-arthur-gies-review-of-child-of-light/

Sleeping Dogs is on sale for 80% off this weekend on Steam. I had this on the X360 and enjoyed the game, but finally got stopped at one mission (in a nightclub) where I had to win several hand to hand fights in a row and I just couldn't get past it. Would I find the martial arts fighting easier on the PC? Or perhaps there's a cheat or exploit so I could get around those mandatory long fight sequences? I did like the game, but my aging reflexes and muscles make doing combos too much of a challenge at times. Any help would be appreciated.

Like 30% or more of that game is hand to hand combat.

Farscape is the most fun of the bunch IMO, it's much more of an adventure show than B5 or BSG.  I'd put it closer to Firefly in scope and tone.

No one else thinks U4 is being rebooted after all the major players leaving?

No. Don't confuse accepted job offers (the clue for people like Hennig is how she went directly into a new job after leaving ND) with trouble in the ranks. Sometimes you just want to do something new after having worked on the same game series for many years. The voice actor may have been removed as a result of contractual or scheduling problems with his new opportunities. Star Wars is a powerful license, one that can trump many other things.

Hennig was forced out.

Do you have some first hand knowledge or is that more internet speculation?   And what does forced out even mean? If she refused to have major character killed off in 4 like Sully or Elena and left over them moving ahead with that for story direction, would that be forced out?

I think TF is a success for EA and Respawn but less so for MS.  Rumors put it over 1mil for XB1 units sold.  It seems like it was a bit of a system seller but a lot of those systems were front loaded in Nov/dec with people getting the XB1 to eventually get TF.

Titanfall still won the software sales numbers in March. That's pretty impressive given PS4's 2 million unit hardware lead.

It's 2M world wide.  In the US which is NPD, it's something like a 200k lead I think.

odd then that it was shelved.  must be due to the lack of improvements from last-gen

I doubt it's anything like that, probably a showstopping bug showed up late and they need to evaluate the time and resources to fix it when considering what sales would end up being for a delayed version.  Possibly an issue introduced with the new XB1 firmware.

Activision has confirmed the postponement of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Xbox One to Eurogamer but said it will collaborate with Microsoft "in an effort to release" the title at some point.

There's still no reason for the delay - and whether the game will actually release at all still seems in doubt.

I think Spiderman videogames have been on a speedy decline ever since Web of Shadows and have no intention of buying this anyway, but people keeping lists of next-gen exclusives can tally up one more.

Really?  I haven't seen that PR/report, my impression was that EA/MS have been incredibly silent on the sales numbers.  I would have thought if there was a report/PR then it would have got a thread at GAF.

It's actually kind of amazing how well the 360 hardware has held up over time.

This is why the 'next gen' shouldn't have started for another year at least.

What?  No, it was well overdue.   TF is just not pushing any boundaries on the graphics front, lighting and shadows are pretty basic, also nothing too crazy on the particle or shader side.   It's not a bad looking game, but even the PC version at max settings is far from a graphics showcase.
