Many would be wrong, then. PC's rival (and can surpass) the experience of their own flagship. Additionally, with full DS4 support, it would eliminate the need to have a PS4.

The defacto controller on the PC for years now has been a 360 controller, and yet MS is still pumping out consoles.

It's sort of amusing that the XB1, which is positioned as the entertainment hub, is getting things like the WWE Network months after all the other systems.

I just couldn't get into Papers, Please at all.  It was not fun even a little bit.  Looking forward to trying out Brothers when it comes out on PS+.

Felt the same way about Papers Please.  I'm baffled at how people think it's fun, but to each their own.

Brothers, on the other hand, is brilliant.  It was my #1a (right behind Tomb Raider) for GOTY in 2013.

Brothers I think has one really good level (giant's graveyard), and a good payoff in the ending but otherwise I was kind of underwhelmed by it.

I'm a bit disappointed to hear this, but I'm guessing with more than 6v6 they started getting some version of people sitting around waiting for the next mech to spawn like people waiting for a snazzy vehicle in Battlefield.
Pretty sure every player has their own mech that only they can use.

Its like E3 all over again. Sony comes in after MS and gets to poke fun at their slip-ups with DRM, used games sales etc along with a lower price. Now the day after MS touts 3 million Ones sold they get to counter punch at CES with 4.2 million.

I actually think MS fully expected Sony to tout their numbers at CES and were trying to get out in front of them to get their good PR while they could.

Yeah, hard to know how to read that.  They did launch the PS4 in almost 3x as many territories, but I wouldn't consider any of those to be major ones.  It would be interesting to see a true 1:1 comparison of systems sold in the same countries.

Either way, 4.2 million makes for a larger gap than I was personally expecting.

We know PS4 was about 160k over XB1 in the UK.  We might know US this month, but who knows with NPD these days.

I think it is a bit surprising, 4.2 total and they haven't even launched in Japan yet is pretty amazing for a launch.  I mean 3 million for XB1 was impressive in its own right.   This number makes me wonder if EA underestimated the PS4 install base and if they perhaps undercharged MS for Titan Fall exclusivity.  PS4 could hit 6 million+ by March with these numbers.

now to wait and see what the costs will be.  sadly, not a way to get access to the games we already bought, but if it's part of PS+ or an expanded version of it, I could see this being a nice cheap way to play games without the hassle of shipping/returning games.

They are going to offer two pricing models, you can subscribe like Netflix, or just buy per title.

I agree, which is why I further think it was stupid to release prematurely without a killer Kinect app that set them apart.  Yeah yeah I understand wanting to compete with PS4 for the holiday sales but I'm not sure it was worth the perception that they "lost" the first release battle.

I think the Xbox One had a stronger game lineup, so I'm not sure where the perception that they "lost" any first release battle.  Certainly there was no killer Kinect app unless you care about Kinect Fitness, but they had much better exclusives in Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Killer Instinct and Zoo Tycoon.

lol you're right.  I just saw that they sold 3 million article on the front page.  I guess the perception thing I was getting more from these and other forums, maybe not reflecting sales.  How much did PS4 sell?

4.2 million per they keynote today.

The Last Stand went up over the weekend.  It was the first American movie directed by Kim Jee-Woon, who did the absolutely amazing The Good, the Bad, the Weird.  The Last Stand is kind of ok action fair with Schwarzenegger, but lacks the magic of Kim's Korean films.  If you havent watched The Good, the Bad, the Weird yet, check it out, it's great and also on Netflix.

Sadly, the only Kim Jee-Woon we have on Netflix Canuckistan is his short piece in The Doomsday Book which is far from his best. I enjoyed The Good, the Bad, the Weird as well as his A Tale of Two Sisters, and I really enjoyed his A Bittersweet Life - his best film IMO. I keep hoping we get some of his better movies, but so far we've been shut out.  icon_frown

[Edit] Almost forgot to mention - but 2 excellent Korean films we have on netflix.ca are A Company Man and The Man from Nowhere. Don't know if they're on Netflix USA, but if they are you might enjoy them too.

The Man from Nowhere is great.  I'll have to watch A Company Man now.   We have I Saw the Devil up on the US Netflix, but I haven't been able to work up the energy to tackle that one yet.

No, it doesn't. It shows another group of hostiles - not another Division. This was explained in the back-room walkthrough at E3. Those hostiles are local, and responding to the beacon for pickup that the woman playing calls for extraction. The 90sec timer is for how long it'll take for the extraction team to show up. You can be attacked at any point - you're drawing attention to your location.

So the ones who show up? We were told they're the same as the guys you fight to save the police station.

As the map zooms out at the end, it shows all the other groups of people (red dots) working to fight against the fall of society, and they explained how you could meet up with them and help out.

Watch the E3 trailer again, the guy at the end says "woah woah woah it's another group of players, brace for PvP"

At the very least, Microsoft can afford to "lose" one console generation. The same can't be said about Sony at this point.

Microsoft "lost" their last two console gens  icon_confused.... or did you mean "one more"

Lost? If we remove the disturbingly xenophobic Japanese marketplace, the Xbox 360 won the last Gen handily.

From a global sales perspective they're so close to each other as not to matter. Coming from the 2001 Xbox market position and Sonys Ps2?

I don't know how you classify the 360 as a loss.

Regardless, the xb1 has an uphill battle. I'm of the mind that is the best position for MS to be in - they do well there. I just wish they'd not made some key decisions that caused the uproar and the subsequent 180.

You seem to be forgetting Nintendo, who may have bowed out early but still had like a 20 million WW lead over PS3 and 360.
I think around Aug last year it was roughly 360 80M, PS3 80M, Wii 100M.
224  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Someone's been using my Netflix account on: January 03, 2014, 01:10:16 AM
I think it registers a hardware code at the Netflix side and associates that to your account, as opposed to user/pass.  Didn't the 360 do a code match to setup?  I remember it that way but it's been a while.   Netflix needs to let you see all registered devices like Amazon does, and I think they used to do this but when I looked earlier today I didn't see it listed.

I logged into Netflix today and noticed it was recommending me a lot of movies featuring African-American actors. Looked closer and my recent views showed a whole lot of movies I never watched. Looked at my viewing history, and it shows someone watching entire seasons of "How I Met Your Mother" going back at least to mid-December (it doesn't go back farther than that).

I changed my password and I'll have to see if that knocks the person out, or if they've got a device set up, in which case I'll need to call support and see if they can ID it.

What concerns me more is how this person got my password. It's a password I've used a lot, although now it's mostly used on low security things.

Sign out all devices too.  Did you recently sell trade-in an old device, it may just be running off that and not be an intentional hack.

To be fair the concept predates Groundhog Day, though that is the most popular notion. 12:01PM for instance was published in 73 and had a short film made in 1990 starring Kurtwood Smith (Red Forman/Boddicker).  You can find it on youtube.

Yeah so I got this for Christmas and I really don't understand the hate it gets.  It is very average, pretty much the definition of a 3 star game IMO but  I really have no idea what was up with those 3/10 reviews, those seem way way too harsh, this should be firmly in 6-7.5 territory.  Reviewers just come across as too eager to bash something for the launch games.  I've played much worse this past year that reviewed much better.

The price for selling those snow globe cards have nosedived since beginning of the Winter sale (when it first started, I sold couple for $0.50 each, now you can't get any higher than $0.2 or so).  I sold every snow globe card I got so far.  With the snow globe cards are going to disappear at the end of the sale, I believe its value will drop like a rock, I probably will buy a set to craft a badge at the end of the sale, if the price for each one is no higher than 5 cents each.

Alternatively the value could spike as people try to buy up the cards they need to complete their badges before they all expire.

Sony has launched in more countries, and it would also appear that they've generally provided more stock to countries that the XB1 has also launched in with the exception of the US and possibly UK.   I saw some numbers recently posted that had Spain at something like 134k PS4s v. 28k XB1s sold for instance.
