So much better than the real teaser.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Retro Style)

Yay, another gritty dark dark grimdark brood dark dark film.

*yawns*

I think they missed the boat on when this movie fit the public sentiment.

I am pretty sure after Hulk was always angry in Avengers (and other lighter lines) the bleak dark brooding super hero cliche died.

This isn't an iOS problem, it is a mobile platform problem. Android suffers from the same issues.

To be fair it is a technology problem.

I can't play my floppy disk version of X-wing on my PC anymore (because it doesn't have a floppy drive!) Nor can I play any of the games that required I boot to an special boot disk - to free up more memory.

Now perhaps things are moving faster and it used to be that you could play games you bought for more years than you can now but technology has always orphaned old software.

I liked it but not as much as Fr. Roderick.

SFW, unless you work somewhere that doesn't like happy priests.

I have always wanted to like his games.  They seem like they should be right up my alley but I just never could get into them.   Still I will miss knowing there is a great RPG on they system waiting for me to have time to play it.

BTW I don't think it broke all Spiderweb games because I just tested out Avadon HD and it runs fine.  Not that I will end up finishing it but I don't want to delete it now in case I can't get it back from the iTunes store later!

This trailer has a bit of footage I haven't seen.

End of the month for Japan!  I hope the reviews are good and that the English release is this year.

It does look pretty darn good.

Here is a 20 minute (or so) video

I will say that ios has me trained though that I never buy a game at full price.  I will pick it up on sale however.

Heck I just got Xenobade for the 3ds so it isn't like I will have any playtime soon anyway.

First clip that has disappointed me

Spoiler for Hiden:
I hated the way they animated Ultron's mouth.  I know it is really hard do make a robotic mouth move to match the words but they should just not try and have it be fixed like the comics and then James Spader's voice over.

101  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Xenoblade coming to Europe, presumably US on: April 13, 2015, 01:18:25 PM
I put in a couple hours.  I like the game but I really feel like I am playing a PSX game.   And I really wish they would have worked a bit harder to use the bottom screen.  I know it is a port and the Wii doesn't have it but it is just wasted.  They could show a full map all the time or something simple like that - even that would be an improvement.

Anyway I still like it but it certainly isn't going to win any awards.

The Verge review of the new 3ds port

It also has a structure that makes is a great fit for a handheld. You can save pretty much anywhere, for one thing, so it's easy to just pick up and do a bit of exploration or level grinding while taking the train to work. Unlike many RPGs, every play session doesn't have to last a few hours. Similarly, there's an incredibly useful fast-travel system that lets you jet back to any location you've visited before, and at any point you can hit a button to get a reminder of what exactly is happening in the story at that moment (perfect for when you get sidetracked taking on extra quests). Over the years Iíve found it increasingly challenging to play the kinds of JRPGs I grew up with, because they require such a massive time investment, but Xenoblade is a game I can play whether I have 10 minutes or a few hours to spare.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D isn't the most obvious showcase for Nintendo's handheld. For one thing, its chunky visuals actually look worse if you use the 3DS XL's 3D capability, turning the whole thing into an ugly, jagged mess. It's also a niche game in a niche genre, without the strong name recognition of something like The Legend of Zelda. Itís not entirely clear why it needed to be exclusive, unless the New 3DSí processing bump was required to run the former console game.

But for RPG fans who missed the Wii version the first time around, this is a great chance to catch up ó especially if you think you've outgrown the genre. Xenoblade gives you all of the great things about JRPGs and cuts out most of the fluff.

Well, there will be no games on the system.  Once you do a system transfer, the original 3DS will be re-formatted back to factory default.

There will nothing of yours on the 3DS after the system transfer.

Welcome to the club.  Now I just wish Nintendo released on Tuesday instead of Fridays.

115  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Anyone tried Cricket wireless? on: April 06, 2015, 07:25:06 PM
Anyone have opinions about Cricket wireless?

I bought a Oneplus One when they had an open weekend several months ago because Ting announced they were adding GSM service.  Now that GSM has rolled out I find that Cedar Rapids Ia is only part of their "partnership" coverage so  I can actually use the phone.  I like Ting but I like the phone too so I am thinking of finding another carrier.

It seems like Cricket wireless fits the bill so I wondered how their service was.  Anyone use them or have any opinions?

116  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Wii U on: April 06, 2015, 03:33:01 PM
Probably but I still think is a sign that Nintendo isn't getting how the market has changed with "Web 2.0"  This, their weird Nintendo ID when you want to transfer to a new system, etc.  kind of show they are behind the curve on this and I think it hurts them overall.

Well he is bit bitter....Angry Joe is done reviewing/discussing Nintendo stuff.

Bigtime YouTuber says enough is enough; he won't do any more Nintendo videos

Quote
Recently, Nintendo implemented the beta version of a "Creator's Program" with tight guidelines on how Let's Play videos of its games can be broadcast. While YouTubers can still realize ad revenue under the program, Nintendo takes a 40 percent cut of it.

Rather foul mouthed (although AngryJoe is often profane) video about it.

Here is his angry rant

I now nothing about this until now but I will say from what I know it is stupid.  While companies don't see any direct revenue from Let's Play videos they certainly reap huge benefits from good press and hype about their game.  I think it is a bit more about Nintendo doing very poorly in this generation so they are scrambling for ways to milk money.
