Well two great stars in one week.  2016 is off to a rough start.

Batman V. Superman May Be Getting Yet Another Major Supervillain

Spoiler for Hiden:
Okay. You know how Doomsday is obviously going to tussle with DCís main three heroes in Batman V. Superman? And remember how itís rumored that Lex Luthor will also be getting into the action? Well, according to Latino Review, Bizarro will also debut, and heíll be introduced as a future threat in the Justice League movie.

I actually buy this rumor because in DCís New 52 comics, Bizarro is a failed clone of Superman created by Lex Luthor. If movie Lex tried to turn one Kryptonian (Zod) into an instrument of destruction, and if Superman beats Doomsday at the end of BvS, it stands to reason that Lex would want to try again. Maybe heíll be grabbing some of that Superman blood Batman seems so intent on spilling.

That said, adding Bizarro to all the other DC heroes and villains getting packed in the film does seem kind of insane. Honestly, Iím getting worried that Batman and Superman wonít have much time to V each other at all.

Didn't see a thread for this.

I am not terribly excited about the direction they have taken this reboot but I like the characters, and I like sci-fi so I will check it out when it hits.  I am mostly making a thread for this hilarious mashup of the first trailer with shots from the classic show

But you really need to watch the original trailer here first to it makes sense.

Kind of shocked to see this first thing in the morning.

David Bowie, master of reinvention, is dead at 69

Quote
David Bowie, whose incomparable sound and chameleon-like ability to reinvent himself made him a pop music fixture for more than four decades, has died. He was 69.

Bowie died Sunday after an 18-month battle with cancer, his publicist Steve Martin told CNN.

Quote
"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy during their time of grief," said a statement posted on his official social media accounts.

Mathematicians Have Found Crazy New Ways to Cut Pizza Into Equal Slices

Quote
Cutting a pizza can be a stressful experience: are the slices equal? Now, a team of mathematicians has found some new ways to cut pizzas into exotic slices, while still ensuring that the all-important size considerations are met.

The slicing of pizza is an oddly well-researched area of mathematics, principally because it has less to do with pizza and more to do with circular geometry. But that doesnít stop the team from Liverpool University focussing on the fact that itís really investigating a way to slice everyoneís favorite bread-based meal.

The work builds on previous research that showed that it was possible to cut a pizza into six curved slices (or Ďshieldsí), each of which could then be sliced in half to produce 12 identical slices.

Mad Max director wants to make a Furiosa movie

Quote
Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller has said previously that he plans to return to the franchise in a couple of years, and recently admitted to Entertainment Weekly that he would like to focus on Fury Road's star character, Furiosa.

Miller said that Furiosa was a character with an incredibly rich backstory that they unfortunately couldn't get into because Fury Road didn't allow much time for character discovery. When he returns to the series after taking a break to work on smaller, more independent films, he'd like to dig into her history.

"In many ways, the audience has already picked up a lot about Furiosa, and it's enough that it's left some intrigue," Miller said. "She's got a really interesting story."

Miller added that while Furiosa was one of the characters he was interested in exploring further, every character he writes is designed to have the potential for their own stand-alone film. He used the guitar-playing War Boy as an example, and said that if he wanted to, he could delve into the backstory of that character.

Still, a Furiosa movie is a long way off. Although Miller has expressed interest in doing it, hasn't even started working on the script. However, the director did confirm he was currently talking to the studio about bringing the next Mad Max to fruition.

The Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise scene from the movie Revenge of the Sith.

It's not buried in some book.  It may seem like some throwaway scene, but they spent 2 minutes on that story.

It may not be greatly remembered, but if it ties into what's happening in the new movies, it will be.

I forgot about that.

I wonder if they will tie it together, especially since he specifically mentions "meteclorians" which I thought they were kind of trying to ignore.

I have read that theory as well and it is fine - for Star Wars nerds - but for the vast majority of people it will mean nothing.  An off hand reference to someone never seen?  Only people who have read the books and dug into the lore will care and even if it is true it really doesn't .... well matter.  He is the bad guy, he needs to be defeated.  It isn't like that really changes if he is X or Lord Voldermort for that matter.

Well actually that is a terrible example because in Harry Potter it did matter a lot who Voldermort was, there was an important back story that was built into the story.   No matter who Snoke turns out to be there isn't an important back story for him outside hardcore fan books.
