82  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / SOLD - 3ds XL Red/black on: February 16, 2015, 02:29:03 PM
I would buy Lee's first because I don't know why he is selling for less than Amazon's lowest price and including games, but if it is gone..

I have a 3DS XL Red/black for sale.  Amazon says the cheapest is $119 so I will sell it for $115.  I will come out a bit ahead because Amazon won't take a cut and you will come out a bit ahead because it is slightly cheaper.

Nothing particularly exciting to say about it.  It is a in great shape, comes with the default 4GB memory card and .....ummm it is pretty.... smile

PM me if your interested.

Since Gamestop is incredibly slow with shipping I will be getting my new 3ds today and Majora's Mask.

Didn't see this as a topic but it has been getting great press. I have never played one before but I might look into it after seeing the reviews.

Gametrailers review 9.0  They loved it.

Humm

I like this site although they low ball the age ranges it is a good place to look

My kids like Lego Star Wars on the iPad so I would bet the 3ds version would be good.

Sadly I have to admit I haven't updated my PC in years so I will not be playing it unless it hits consoles.

It seems so silly.  I can still take a quick look at the "recommendation system" rather than read a full review.  This just makes it harder for something like Metacritic.

Legend of Grimrock iPad gameplay first look

Quote
Hello all! The blog has been silent for sometime but do not fear, we have been hard at work. The long overdue iPad version of Grimrock 1 is finally nearing completion and it has entered the closed beta testing stage. This means that the game is playable from start to finish and all features have been implemented. Juha Pinola, the man responsible for the conversion, is currently busy fixing the remaining bugs, smoothing the hard edges and balancing the game.

I can't wait.  I wonder if they will have to tweak some of the puzzles since they required timing which I whtink would be hard with touch controls.

Also I hope I can switch the sides so movement is on the left!

Xenoblade Chronicles: 3ds vs. Wii comparison video

96  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Wii U] Xenoblade Chronicles X on: February 09, 2015, 03:06:46 PM
Just so we are all clear

This thread is about the new Wii U game Xenoblad Chroicles X which is very different than the original Wii game which is being released on the 3DS Circle (I mention because it will only run on the new 3Ds with the right nub/circle thingy.. I really wish they would call these models something besides "new" Nintendo 3ds.  That doesn't tell me squat about what it has on it)

Now on the subject of Xenoblade Chronicles I have posted a link to a video comparison of the Wii version vs. the "new" 3ds version over here  In short it looks very good on the 3ds but better on the Wii (by a small bit) so play it on the Wii if you have it.

I would imagine the market will cool for the Wii version once the 3ds version is out so it might even be reasonably priced!

A video showing a lot of the game world and some of the mechanics of the game (I assume since it is in Japanese so I don't really know)

It does underscore that I just don't understand what is in Japanese and what is in English is Japanese games.  Obviously this is meant for a Japanese audience, it is in Japanese and the majority of writing is in Japanese but some words are in English - why?  At around 8:57 there is the phrase "Field Action Succeeded."  It is obviously in game and there is Japanese writing on the left side....so why is that phrase in English?  I find it very confusing.

101  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: TurboTax or an Accountant? on: February 04, 2015, 09:20:58 PM
It seems like a low risk investment to try it out.

Assuming your life situation hasn't radically changed in the last year you can have an accountant this year and see if you save a ton.

As others have said though unless you have a lot of special situations Turbo Tax will probably be more than enough.

What a shame...HOMM3 was probably my most wanted game for iOS.   icon_cry

Which made me think...

Saw this series on Appyspy and thought it was worth seeing what you folks thought would be great on iOS.

The top 13 Western RPGs that are yet to make it onto mobile

Gothic II: Would it be less buggy?  It is amazing how I remember it looking so great back then and now it looks terrible.

http://www.youtube.com/v/v0R0k9djvc0

 Morrowind: I would love this.

 http://www.youtube.com/v/Cr3TCWPlDrw

Dragon Age: Origins: I never played it so that would be cool.

http://www.youtube.com/v/0olSKafPoQA

Neverwinter Nights: We already have the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games so why not?

 http://www.youtube.com/v/aD8BnROvBRc

Fallout 2:  Oh yeah this one would be great on an iPad

 http://www.youtube.com/v/e3PXiV95kwA

Planescape Torment:  Since they already have the engine ported with the Baldur's Gate series this seems like a no brainer

 http://www.youtube.com/v/7s2Qkx3lN5s

Arx Fatalis:  Again one I never played so I would pick it up.

 http://www.youtube.com/v/MRKML57vcTI

The Witcher:  I think large pars of this would not pass Apple's censoring process!

 http://www.youtube.com/v/B00E5f7-yz4

Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines:  Considering how hard to was to actually get it out to begin with I can imagine it every coming but I would love it.

 http://www.youtube.com/v/yOPv4o9Q8Cc

Might & Magic X: Legacy: Yes please!

 http://www.youtube.com/v/C5p8zZVprS4

Anachronox: I remember being excited when it first came out so I would pick it up....but like the original I would never finish it.

 http://www.youtube.com/v/mZ2oE0pd_Zc

Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura:  Buggy as hell if I remember right so if they fix that the world looked neat

 http://www.youtube.com/v/vGKlGqvt8AQ

Others I would love to see (and think would work well on iOS)

 Space Ranger 2

 http://www.youtube.com/v/5qneGHw4jA8

Wizardry 8:  Seems like the control scheme would be great on tablets

 http://www.youtube.com/v/c3UEvOnxPqQ

Transistor, Yakuza 4 heading to PlayStation Plus next month

Quote
Sony has revealed next month's PlayStation Plus lineup, announcing that subscribers will receive free downloadable copies of Transistor, Yakuza 4, and more starting next week.

Featured PlayStation 4 freebies for next month include Supergiant Games' Bastion follow-up Transistor and Alien Trap Games' side-scrolling action game Apotheon, while PlayStation 3 owners can expect to see Sega's open-world crime drama Yakuza 4 and Eidos Montreal's first-person stealth game Thief. The PlayStation Vita will host Jaywalkers Interactive's Kick & Fennick, and Cellar Door Games' roguelike platformer Rogue Legacy will be freely downloadable across the PlayStation 4, PS3, and Vita.

All featured games will be available as free downloads for PlayStation Plus subscribers after the PlayStation Store updates on February 3.

Cool!  Between Transistor and inFamous: First Light last month I am finding the PSN subscription to be well worth the money.

Otherwise
Spoiler for Hiden:
Holy hell yes.  I even asked a few months ago to go to half time because it would work nice with the kids school schedule, etc and they said no because having an FTE on the budget is important.

Witcher 3 is my biggest game this year.

I'm looking forward to Dying Light, Batman, Uncharted 4, MGS Phantom Pain, The Division, No Man's Sky, and Homefront The Revolution

B List of likely but not sold yet games:

AC Victory (yeah, I know), FF XV, BF Hardline, Dead Island 2 (new dev), Just Cause 3 (waiting to see whether the micro transactions are implemented), Mad Max (delayed news makes me wary), Bloodborne, The Order

get eventually
Hotline Miami 2, Adrift, Hyper Light Drifter, Salt and Sanctuary

I may be adding another console's games to this list...

What are you looking forward to in 2015?  I ask because I have been watching a nice series on Gametrailers of upcoming games and it got me excited about a few.

Here are the links.

Action Adventure Games

Indies and Underdogs

Shooters

Racing and Fighting

For me I really want Xenoblade Chronicles X, Zelda Wii U, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End .  Of course I won't finish any of them but I will have them which will make me happy.

Square Enix Releases 'Bravely Archive: D's Report' On Japanese App Store

Quote
Hey there, fellow mobile gamers! Do you have a Nintendo 3DS to supplement your iOS habit? If so, I sure hope you checked out Square Enix's Bravely Default last year. It's one of the most interesting JRPGs I've played in quite some time, even if it did sort of overstay its welcome. Well, there's a sequel coming out in April in Japan for the 3DS that I'd say we're pretty likely to see in the West sooner or later, and to help drum up excitement, Square Enix has released a free-to-play mobile spin-off. The title of the game is Bravely Archive: D's Report and it is, of course, a social RPG.
