Let me guess, in order to take full advantage of this I will have to buy the newest device.  Yes it will "work" on the older devices but not with all the bells and whistles.

Not sure we need a Marvel movies catch all since there are so many different movies and tie ins between movies...

Anyway

Josh Brolin Cast As Thanos In Guardians of the Galaxy

Quote
Ever since his big, purple mug popped up at the end of The Avengers, we've been speculating about who will play Marvel's ultimate big bad, Thanos. And now we know. Josh Brolin has been cast as the Mad Titan.

Latino Review broke the news that Brolin has been officially cast in the role of Thanos (and the trades are backing up their story). According to Marvel movie head Kevin Feige, the role had been cast for awhile, but it seems they weren't ready to announce it until just now. The Infinity Gauntlet plot line has been teased out in the Marvel movies for a very long time now, revealing one gem after the other in each film. Now we know, for certain, that Thanos will be appearing in GOTG. However, he is not the main antagonist in this film. That role is filled by Ronan the Accuser, played by Lee Pace. We can only assume that Thanos will be manipulating things from behind the shadows—but will play a much larger part than he did in the Avengers film, obviously. Plus, if you believe certain whispers, Brolin could appear in Avengers 3 as the main villain.

We have to admit, we thought Thanos was going to be Benicio Del Toro. And before that, we suspected Vin Diesel would be voicing the role, but it turned out that he was cast as Guardians of the Galaxy team member Groot. But Brolin works; he's definitely got the intimidating pipes to play this villain.

Anyone got a link to these horrible graphics?  I have searched Youtube for the game and don't see anything.

I played some more last night, and it's fun, just not living up the original for me. I agree with your points above, besides the final one. I won't buy virtual joystick games, I don't like them, my thumbs end halfway across the screen trying to push the controls. I don't play a game like this with my thumbs anyway, I don't find the controls bad at all using my index fingers other than that it can be hard to target/move when you are surrounded.

I love virtual joysticks.  I actually turned it on in Bastion.  I constantly found my fingers over the action on the screen with made me miss out on the pretty pictures.

Dragon Quest 8 hits iOS tonight.  Trying to decide if I want to jump into that time sink again or not.

"Price in NZ is $24.99 which should translate to $19.99 (Approx)."

I just can't decide.  It looks great and I loved the game on the PS2 but $20 is kind of steep considering my already huge iOS games backlog.

It is just so dumb.

Why shouldn't all libraries be forced to burn old newspapers?  After all a paper from 1947 probably has my father's birth announcement - so his name, age, etc.  A paper from 1967 could have a DUI listed in the police blotter for someone famous.

Are those "relevant"  if so why? Is a tabloid saying Jennifer Aniston is marrying Brad Pitt relevant since they are divorced?  Who decides?

Hey I buy two lottery tickets each drawing.  I figure $4 a week for a infinitesimal chance of winning is better that $4 a week on diet coke which has no chance of netting me millions.

Never go see a sci-fi movie again.

Actually, might want to never watch any movie again.

 icon_confused

I think you are missing my underlying complaint.  This was supposed to be the "real" world where they discovered giant monsters. That is all that is supposed to be sci-fi  People can't fly, there is no ability to create ice out of air, or turn into a colossus with metal skin (since X-Men comes out this weekend.)  In movie worlds where those things are part of the world I accept that Magneto can lift an entire stadium.

Godzilla didn't setup that kind of movie world.  Or at least I didn't feel they did.

112  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Godzilla to return to American shores on: May 22, 2014, 03:13:21 PM
I even accept that #3 is necessary for us to care about the main character, but they could have written it a bit better.  In many movies like this they make the hero an expert in some aspect that is crucial to destroying the monster.  In Godzilla they portrayed him as a common grunt.

The thing that didn't make the most sense to me was that giant, radioactive monsters don't really exist.  After I accepted that, I was able to just be a kid again watching monster theater on saturday morning.

But I can certainly understand your complaints.  I've made similar comments about other shows.  I think it all comes down to what you can personally tolerate.

I was very careful to not point out that the monsters don't exist because I went in with this premiss - the world is completely like our world (physics, time, etc.) but there are huge monsters.  That is the only thing that is not "real."  The things I mentioned are things that are not part of the monsters but are also not real.

114  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Godzilla to return to American shores on: May 22, 2014, 01:59:10 PM
I am happy so many of you liked it but after seeing it I just don't get it.  I thought it was terrible.

Spoiler for Hiden:
The vast number of things that made no sense just pissed me off.
1. No one goes near the first site because of radiation....but none of that radiation goes anywhere in the world.  After Fukashima (sp) we saw radiation spikes in the US completely across the Pacific!  After 15 years someone would have noted there was nothing coming away from the plant in the movie.  It just makes no sense.

2. Things that are fried by EMP don't just turn back on after the EMP fades.  There circuits are destroyed.  It happened again and again in the movie and it was just dumb.

3. The silly ways the hero kept getting right into the middle of stuff.  They would never put him in charge of the mission to keep the bomb after arresting him in the quarantined city.  And the number of things he was an expert in was just over the top.

3a. The number of times he just goes from being military to civilian was dumb.  He comes home, the goes to Japan as a civilian, then in brought along with the military, then let go so he can have the scene with the kid on the subway/public transit in Hawiaii, then is back in the military running the train, then leads the Halo drop, then is just hanging out with his son at the refugee camp after the fight as a civilian again.  After rescuing you off the boat with the nuke they probably wouldn't just let you go with everyone else at the baseball stadium.

I could probably go on and be annoyed at more stuff - ie the pay phone he calls his wife from just felt silly, the bus being trapped on the bridge was cliched and unrealistic - the military might be lots of stuff but I think they know not to strand people on a bridge like that.  However rather than just rant I will just be happy you folks enjoyed it and hope I like X-men more.

Second trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy.  Not a Youtube link but you can find it there too.

1.  Love the music.
2.  Not as impressed with the action as the last trailer but still looks like fun.
