This is just a complaint about not having much SP content so you can just hop over this post if you want to talk more about loot drops.

I love the combat in this game, I love the graphics, I enjoy the little bit of story but I really don't want to farm weapons, rep, light, etc. I find that the death animations and violence are unrealistic enough I don't mind playing with my kids watching (6 and Cool unlike something like Wolfenstein which looks like it has great combat but I could not play around kids. I even like playing occasionally with people but I really wish there was a longer, better single player game.

I keep reading posts about how to get this loot and that loot, how to build up rep, etc. and I just don't want to do that.  It is why I have never played WoW or other MMORPGs and it is probably my own fault for not really researching enough to know that while they didn't call it a MMORPG it actually is and I accept that but I really wish it had a SP game.

I think my kids and I might really enjoy this but I don't want to get into the buy figures type games.  They have a friend with Skylanders stuff and it just seems like huge sink hole.

I rediscovered a link I had to this place. - http://www.fuzzysquid.com/LJ.php  It just shows the latest images posted to Live Journal.  It is often NSFW but it is so interesting to see what people posted.  Check it out if you want just a collection of great images, constantly changing.

8  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Final Fantasy XV on: September 22, 2014, 09:05:12 PM
I have seen a few videos and interviews about this so I thought we should have a topic

here are the videos if you haven't seen them.

http://youtu.be/gLpMN0VDNsk

http://youtu.be/wT3dyanB3pk

It does look pretty great.  I am a little worried about what appears to be a boy band driving a car around fighting monsters but I don't think anyone expects a coherent story from FF.

The combat reminded me so much of Xenoblade Chronicles I wondered for a minute if I was watching the wrong video.  I guess it doesn't look that much different than FF 13 either.

In terms of graphics it is very very pretty but I think - like a silly/convoluted story - we expect Final Fantasy games to be very pretty.

So what do others think?

Not quite out.  Actual release is next week.

Oh, sorry.  That is disappointing.  I guess it is better to have reviews earlier rather than later.

Changed the name and put in some links to reviews.

That is what I thought at first too but after ready reading a lot of review it seems they made lots of sex depressing.  Her life is kind of crappy, bad things happen to her and generally it isn't fun.

I think it will be interesting to see if people are playing this in 2 months.  Everyone will be level 20+ so I think it will be up to Bungie to keep creating reasons to load the game back up.

I posted this first elsewhere, but I'll repost it here....

I haven't really been following this issue but I saw this article on PCGamesN, Notch on selling Minecraft to Microsoft: ďItís not about the money. Itís about my sanityĒ. It's an interesting read...

An excerpt:
Quote
He ends by saying: ďI love you. All of you. Thank you for turning Minecraft into what it has become, but there are too many of you, and I canít be responsible for something this big. In one sense, it belongs to Microsoft now. In a much bigger sense, itís belonged to all of you for a long time, and that will never change.

Since it belongs to me can I expect a bit of cash from MS for it?  Or was this "bigger sense" not really redeemable for cash?

Both good points.  I would doubt they discontinue the service though without allowing people time to port their number over so it might be nice for awhile.

I wish this game had more SP, or more variety of missions.  I admit I am only at level 8 but from the comments I think I can see that I will be deploying my ghost and waiting while mobs come at me until it is finished for the rest of the game.

I love the graphics, I love way the weapons feel, I love everything but I expect to be shelving it in a few weeks.

Hey Roguetad, how did you join my fire team yesterday?  Are you able to just jump in friend games?  When I saw you in-game and waved I thought that was cool, but I thought you would disappear once we got to the no respawn area.  Very cool to do some coop and clear out that dungeon.  So much more fun in a group than solo.
I think you can join into any friends fireteams at any time, no invite required.

Really?  That is cool.

Port the number to Google Voice.  It is a one time fee of $20 but then you have the phone number as a google voice number for you forever.  So every time you get a new phone you can just tell google voice to ring that number.

Things I love

1. it can ring multiple phones.  So we have my wife's number and mine ring then we give that number to the school, doctor's office, etc.  If one of the kids is sick the school only has to call one number and whichever one of us can answer does.

2. if neither of us can answer it goes to voice mail.  The nice part though is that the voice mail is transcribed and sent to you gmail account, and also sent as a text!  My old office as in a basement with no cell reception and it was great to just see an email come in with the voice mail.  Then I could call back on the land line phone.  Or I would see the text when I got somewhere with reception.

Someone else correct me if I'm wrong but I think Gold is required to play even the solo parts. It's because Destiny is a server based game, so even when you play solo, you're still playing online and other players will run by you and can interact with you if they want. So my guess is that you need gold to play the game solo or multi.

Removed my link because other sources say different things.  I guess we will have to wait for someone to try it out.

lame lame lame.

I was hoping for a good sci-fi game.  I knew I shouldn't have trusted Bungie to do that.

I have to say I don't know who would be better to trust.  I guess Bioware but other than that I think Bungie is #2 on the list.

There are now 25 known codes to redeem, and a kind soul on Reddit wrote a little javascript you can use to have them all entered automatically, even if you've already put in a few manually.

Thanks, I wasn't going to bother but this made it too easy not to.

Yup.  How could I resist?  Now if they could just make a script for finding enough time to play!

I got Wonderputt since free is always worth getting.  It is pretty fun.  I don't know how long it will keep my attention since it seems to be the same holes over again with different challenges but it has been fun so far.

Destiny optimized for remote play on Vita

Quote
Destiny launches next Tuesday, but for PS4 owners who have inconvenient friends and family hogging the living room television, you'll also be able to access the game on Vita with optimized remote play controls.

Shown above by Sid Shuman of the PlayStation Blog, the game's control scheme has been changed on the portable device to allow grenade throws and melee attacks by tapping the left and right side of the touch screen, respectively. We'll be sure to take this feature for a test drive from our porcelain thrones.

Never heard of them, that I know of.  It reminds me of The Pet Shop Boys, etc. from the 1980s - which isn't bad at all but I just feel like I should be doing jazzercise while listening. smile

*edit*  I just changed the topic title so people could have somewhere to talk about it.

Seems from the reviews to be exactly what you would expect; a reasonably fun smashem up.

What is the deal with Japanese game franchises doing Dynasty Warriors clones?  First it was Hyrule Warriors and now I see that Dragon Quest is hopping on the bandwagon with Dragon Quest Heroes.

Dynasty Warriors has been around for years so why this interest now?
