Thought it would be nice to put them in one place each month but I didn't see a thread.

Here is the stuff for Sept.

PSN games for September

I actually voted for one!

Quote
September's lineup of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers includes Ubisoft Reflections' Grow Home — the first free title selected by PlayStation customers — and Capy Games' Super Time Force Ultra, Sony announced today.

PlayStation 4 owners chose Grow Home in Sony's Vote to Play campaign this month. Because that game won the vote, the other two titles — League of Geeks' Armello and Zoinks' Zombie Vikings — will be available to PlayStation Plus members at a 30 percent discount from Sept. 1-15.

Super Time Force Ultra, the action platformer from Capy Games, is the other free PS4 game for September. Eat Sleep Play's 2012 revival of the Twisted Metal franchise, Twisted Metal, will be available free on PlayStation 3 along with Rain Games' Teslagrad. PlayStation Vita owners will get Renegade Kid's Xeodrifter as well as La-Mulana EX, Pygmy Studio's remake of the 2005 platformer.

Thanks to Sony's cross-buy program, Xeodrifter will also be free on Vita, while Teslagrad will be available free on PS4 as well as PS3.

All six September games will be available free to PlayStation Plus subscribers starting Sept. 1. For more, check out the video above.

Just weird.

Finders Keepers

Quote
One man's leg is another man's treasure. The Orchard has revealed the first official trailer for Finders Keepers, one of our favorite documentaries out of the Sundance Film Festival this year. This is one of those so-crazy-you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it true stories about two men from North Carolina fighting over a leg. One of them lost his leg in a tragic and fatal plane crash, and through some weird happenstance, it ended up in the hands of another man, who used it to make himself famous - his life dream. No, seriously. At first he charged money for people to see it, then even got himself on TV shows, and it just went from. It's wild, and this documentary is a heartfelt, honest, and remarkable look at both sides of the story. You have to see this!

Final Fantasy VII is due out on iOS today.

This will now mark the fifth time I've purchased this game (twice on PSX, once for PSP/PSN, once for PC, and now for iOS).   icon_lol

They certainly have milked that story for all it is worth.  I can't think of any other game that has hit so many platforms and lasted so many years.

Jimmy Carter Says He Has Melanoma That Has Spread To his Brain

Quote
Former President Jimmy Carter said on Thursday that he has melanoma that was discovered in his liver and has spread to four spots on his brain.

Carter, 90, said that he will receive the first of four radiation treatments for the disease on Thursday. The treatments will be spread out over three week intervals.

Carter said that he will drastically cut back his work at the Carter Center while he receives treatment.

The former president seemed optimistic during a press conference on Thursday.

"I feel good. I haven't felt a weakness," Carter said.

The 39th president said that he felt "relieved" after surgery earlier this month when he thought doctors had removed the cancer from his liver. That same afternoon, Carter said, an MRI showed that the cancer had spread to his brain.

"I thought I just had a few weeks left. I was surprisingly at ease," he said.

Asked whether he had any regrets about his life, Carter referred to the Iranian hostage crisis.

"I wish I had sent one more helicopter to get the hostages and we would have rescued them and I would've been re-elected," he said. "But that may have interferred with the foundation of the Carter Center. If I had to choose between four more years and the Carter Center I think I would choose the Carter Center."

Speaking about his cancer, the Georgia Democrat said that he was "looking forward to a new adventure."

"Now it's in the hands of God," he said. "And I'll be prepared for anything that comes."

Saturday will be spent with swine, fried foods, things on a stick and all manner of fun.

We expect an after-action report:

The AAR - it was HOT.  Hot like it only can be when the humidity is 90% and the temp is 90 as well.  Like being in a sauna all day.  However we saw a few good shows and generally had a good time but we left by 4 in the afternoon.

For food we were tame this year - 2 pork chops on a stick, a chocolate shake, a strawberry/raspberry Sunday, and of course a hard boiled egg on a stick!  I don't know what they do to the pigs they get for the pork chops on a stick but it is the most tender, and delicious pork I have all year.  I assume they give them Swedish massages all year up to the final day, or that they only pick the best of the best pigs but whatever it is I love them.

We did try one exotic food - deep fried Oreos.  It was NOT good.  When you fry whatever chemicals are in Oreos it somehow changes them to something that is not food.  It is a sure way to cure wanting to eat them because you realize Oreoes are not really food.

Since it is a primary year the fair was graced with politicians and they even left the swine barn.  smile  We saw Trump and Sanders.  We didn't get too close because I just don't find it fun to fight crowds that deep anymore but we can say we saw them!

The Witcher 3 gets official mod support today

Quote
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt players can now "modify several aspects of the game to their own liking," thanks to developer CD Projekt Red's official Modkit.

According to a post from the developer today, players can modify many aspects of the fantasy-themed role-playing game's Windows PC version.

"Thanks to texture import and export, gamers can now modify the looks and feel of in-game objects, while the possibility of substituting meshes allows to insert new models in the game world in place of existing ones," the post reads. "Finally, access to script files opens up an entirely new array or modification options to many in-game aspects, so modders can fire up their imagination and fiddle with item statistics and much more."

Modkit is available download at Nexus Mods, and you can find Modkit documentation in the official forums.

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter revealed he has cancer on Wednesday. It was discovered after the 90-year-old's recent liver surgery.
"Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body," Carter said in a statement. "I will be rearranging my schedule as necessary so I can undergo treatment by physicians at Emory Healthcare," he added.

He certainly has been one of the most - if not the most - active former presidents we have had.  I think he has done a ton of good work since he left office probably much more than he did while in office.

Great news!  I am sure there is a lot to work out but still great news.

Ebola Vaccine 100% Successful In Guinea Trial

Quote
Doctors and researchers have been testing a vaccine to protect against Ebola in the west African nation of Guinea. Trials involving 4,000 people have now shown a 100% success rate in preventing infection. "When Ebola flared up in a village, researchers vaccinated all the contacts of the sick person who were willing — the family, friends and neighbors — and their immediate contacts. Children, adolescents and pregnant women were excluded because of an absence of safety data for them. In practice about 50% of people in these clusters were vaccinated. To test how well the vaccine protected people, the cluster outbreaks were randomly assigned either to receive the vaccine immediately or three weeks after Ebola was confirmed. Among the 2,014 people vaccinated immediately, there were no cases of Ebola from 10 days after vaccination — allowing time for immunity to develop — according to the results published online in the Lancet medical journal (PDF). In the clusters with delayed vaccination, there were 16 cases out of 2,380."

I think we have a thread about this coming from two years ago but since it comes out this weekend I thought an new thread was worth it.

So how is it?  Our local theater has $5 movies on Tuesday so I won't be catching it over the weekend but I might next week - if it is mostly ok for kids 9 and 7.  Usually the violence isn't too bad in these movies - no worse than a James Bond etc. movie but I will check it first.

Anyway who has seen it and what did those of you who rushed out to see it think?  93% on Rottentomatoes currently so I am hopeful it will be as fun as the last one.
