Saw it over the weekend with the wife. We both enjoyed it. Good turn your brain off and enjoy the ride kind of movie. Much like 1-4 The movie is a mix of Fast and Furious and Ocean's Eleven. A weird combo, but it worked well.

Definitely interested. I enjoyed the originals. They weren't serious horror films by any stretch, but I liked the satire of the slasher film genre they presented. They were fairly entertaining. That being said, I'll probably wait for netflix on this one, too many other movies coming out in the next few weeks to pay for

Saw it with friends friday night. None of us really liked it much. The action scenes were awesome to look at, but the story / dialog / acting seemed so poor that it hurt the movie over all. My friend said: "I feel like part of that movie was awesome, and during all the other parts I got Sucker Punched"

I would say after what I'm kinda going through right now, don't give up happiness for money. Left a job I was really happy in for more money. I thought I would be happy where I went. A few years later , I am miserable and would gladly go back to the job making less money just to be happy about going to work again.

Good news. Steam got back to me and said that the dispute with paypal was indeed solved and that my account has been reactivated. The whole experience has left me questioning future purchases through them though. I've loved digital distrubution of games and have used steam to buy just about all of my PC titles the past few years. If they can just take away everything I own that easily, then I think I'm going back to box copies of games again. We'll see, the first steam sale will probably sucker me in.... Glad to be back, thanks for letting me vent

Saw it tonight with some friends and we all absolutely loved it. Not sure why it's getting all the negative reviews. It's a very good intense military action flick.

Forgive me for asking....but does Valve have a 1-800 number for customer service? If they do not, it is completely absurd that a company with hundreds of millions in revenue does not have a live support line. That is completely unacceptable and beyond comprehension.
Nope, only an email That has been my single greatest source of rage about all of it.

Seems to me a better solution would be to lock down a persons account to prevent them from making future purchases. For instance in my case, lock out my access to Dragon Age 2, but at least let me access my other games. There's gotta be a better way than to threaten to lock me down forever...
Of course the best solution would be if I could just actually CALL someone to get resolution.

So I got this response from steam this afternoon:
"Thank you for contacting Steam Support. The purchase of Dragon Age II has been disputed by Paypal. The Paypal account holder will need to close the dispute and have the funds returned to Steam. If the account holder is unable or unwilling to drop the dispute and let the PayPal know that the purchase is valid, and in turn have the funds returned to Steam, we will not be able to reactivate the account. All games on your account are locked to the account and can not be transferred to a different account. A different payment method can not be used for this game; the money must be returned by the PayPal account that made the original purchase. If the dispute is closed and the funds are released back to Steam, the account will be reactivated. However if PayPal closes the dispute by “Reversing the Payment”, meaning they send the funds for the purchase back to you, the Steam account will remain locked and you will lose access to all of the games on the account. There are no options to resolve a dispute once PayPal has closed the case, so we suggest that you contact them immediately"
So I contacted Paypal immediately. Paypal told me there is no dispute with the payment and that funds were sent to steam and accepted by them on March 6th when i pre-ordered. I have the paypal receipt that shows exactly that. So i've sent that information back to Steam and now have to WAIT again for them to respond. With Paypal I was able to call someone and talk to a customer service person within 5 minutes. How come I can't do this with Steam, it is extremely frustrating.
I also have a lot of trouble with the above statement that says if Paypal reverses funds , my account and ALL OF MY GAMES are gone. That is bullshit. If I were to say bounce a check at Gamestop, they couldn't demand that I return everygame I ever purchased back to them. They just won't sell me the one game. If one game on my steam account is in dispute then by all means pull my access to it, but to permanently take away all other legitimate transactions is completely ridiculous in my opinion.
Anyway thanks for letting me rant all, hopefully I hear something more positive from steam soon...

Try starting steam and going offline, and then fire up a game.
Problem is ,to get to offline mode I have to launch steam. Right from the start it asks for my username / password. Then tells me i'm disabled and won't go any further. I tried going into the common folder and launching games from there, but they pop up the steam login too I wouldn't mind so much if had heard ANYTHING from steam at this point beyond the "you've opened a ticket" email I got. A way to check status, where I am in the que, something.

I've been a fan and have loved steam up until 2 days ago. I bought Dragon Age 2, played the heck out of it. 2 nights ago I was really looking forward to playing some more, I fire up my PC and get a notice: Your steam account has been disabled. I check my email account steam is associated with, I have no notifications from them, other than my receipt from them that I had purchased DA2. All of my games are locked, I can't play any of the 20 some odd games I own, this is disheartening as i've done almost all of my PC game purchases through steam the last few years.
I sent in a ticket, and have heard nothing. This is pretty piss poor customer service in my opinion. Several hundred dollars worth of games that I legitimately own sitting on my hard drive that are unaccessible to me, and the company that has taken my money happily all these years hasn't sent one response, other than the automated "here's your ticket number". I was hoping to get it resolved before the weekend , as I'm sure their closed down over it, but it's looking pretty grim at this point.

Going to go ahead and sell my Rift account. I loved the Beta, but it's not continuing to grab me.
$35 , it still has the full free month, minus 1 day. I'll set you up with all the account info so you can log in and download the game. I bought it through the games website.

I have to say I'm a bit shocked there is so little interest in this game, even though I was one of the ones saying beta was just OK. This morning in the LA Times there was a big story on how Sony spent $50 million and 5 years on this game, and were looking at competing with WoW. Yet here it is at the end of release day and there is almost no interest here or on Wanderers, only a single player listing a server here, and I couldn't even find a thread in OO - I mean these are forums that have and will play ANYTHING that even vaguely resembles an MMO, and there's just no one lol? Not even Velvetelvis?!?!? What is the world coming to?
Anyway I was just thinking this could be a disaster for Sony, this has to be the least amount of interest I've ever seen for a "major" release.
Keep in mind that many of us feel "burned" by past big-budget (or even medium-budget) MMO launches. This. I'm find myself pretty interested in DC Universe. I'd like a good superhero MMO, and I think the DC setting looks interesting. But after Age of Conan, Warhammer, Champions, STO and APB I feel pretty burned by diving into these titles head first. I've heard good things about this one, but I'm still hesitating. I think the recent release of Cataclysm probably factors in as well. It looks like a lot of people (myself included) are still going through that content. Plus 2 weeks after christmas, when a lot of people aren't ready to drop money on a game, is probably poor timing.

I may have missed it, but wasn't someone going to try use the Kinect for in game voice chat? Did it work?
I can confirm that it works. My 8 year old likes to play battlefield 1943 alot. He also talks alot while he's playing, it's pretty funny. After we got the connect he was playing it, all of the sudden people in the game were responding to him when he talked. It was pretty funny I turned it off after that though.

If you go to the camps and click on the crystal (Aetheryte Crystal? think I may have mispelled that ) there is an option to read a manual essentially that will tell you lots of stuff about the game. Those crystals exist in the main cities too. I had the same trouble with the weapons though. It took forever to find the weapon shop that sold all the basic weapons. It was on the map, but not called anything that makes it identifiable AS a weapon shop.
But the game is very unforgiving to new players with little to no explanation about anything, which is sad because I think there's probably a decent game here but many new players will be so turned off they'll give up. Hopefully SE can clean things up.

Sorry I missed posting yesterday.
I played beta about 1 week before release so some of what I saw may be different. I'll list out what I felt were the pros and cons of it.
Pros:
Graphics / setting. The world is beautiful. The characters and animations looked great as well.
Sound. The music was amazing. Nobuo Uematsu returned to do the soundtrack and it is incredible. I'm pretty sure I'll pick up the soundtrack to the game at the very least.
Story. The game has a full story in it, although in beta they apparently cut it off. When I created a character you get a full introductory quest that's different for each starting area. It was nice seeing the character I created in the cutscenes. There's full voice for all the cutscenes where story quests are involved. I read that the story quest lines are available every 10 levels.
Character system? Wasn't sure what to label this. Leveling your character is very open ended. You can change classes simply by changing out your weapon. You can carry abilities you've gained from one class over to the others as you switch to them. Effectively you could create any kind of character as you leveled up. You can only assign so many abilities to your hot bar, so you have to pick and choose what abilities to use. I was probably the most impressed with this aspect of the game.
Guildleves These are like hunts from FF12. Or like dailies from WoW. Your allowed 8 of these in a 36 hour period (was 48 I hear they lowered it on release). It seems like these are the main quests you do in between the story quests. A group can share these so you can effectively do more than 8. You can also link them together to form a campaign quest of sorts (although I didn't get to see this in beta).
Solofriendly This one is definitely far more solo friendly than FF11. The guildleve quests you have have difficulty levels that you can assign depending on the size of your group. So if your solo you can set them so they are easily soloable. You can also group with up to 15 people if you prefer and scale the difficulty up for better rewards.
Cons:
Lack of content. I was able to finish the story quests rather quickly and after that you don't get another for 10 levels (I leveled to 10 really quick in beta tho). The main thing to level up on appears to be Guildleves and grinding. If your looking for tons of quest hubs like in WoW or pretty much any new MMO out there, this doesn't appear to have them. It appears they mean for you to do Guildleves between story content. But they limit how many you can do in a 36 hour period. Square did claim to have a lot of quest content left out of the beta, so maybe there's more in release.
User Interface. The UI is a lot like 11's Which is bad. It is really designed around console users , but this was a HUGE misstep in my opinion since they are releasing this on PC a full 7 months or so before the consoles. The UI is basically all done through a menu on the side of the screen. If you want to pull up your inventory, there's no short cut. You open the menu, scroll down to inventory and pull it up. If you like JRPG menu systems you'll be right at home, but if you want a more streamlined system you'll hate this. This is probably the biggest area where I felt they dropped the ball.
It's not easy. Not sure what to call this category, but there's basically no “hand holding” here. Your dropped in a huge world with complex systems and very little information. Quest givers do not have handy ! marks over there heads you have to figure out which NPC's are the quest givers (it's not too difficult tho). Another example on the difficulties of the system. I wanted to buy another weapon for switching classes, I pulled up the map, there was no easy identifiable weapon shop. I had to aimlessly wander looking for the shop. Another example I wanted to try out crafting, so I went looking for crafting items. There are several crafting guilds, I went to them but they wouldn't sell me the items. I gave up trying. There's lots of little things that aren't explained, and many that are, but the explanations are buried in menus. I don't mind figuring things out but some of this will definitely put off more casual players.
In summary I think it has a lot of potential. I think they made some steps forward in the genre with the multi-class systems and guild systems (you can be in more than 1 guild at the same time). But they also made several steps back with a clunky UI and a very non-user friendly game. It's not nearly as terrible as some people are making it out to be, but I'm not sure it's awesome enough to pull a lot of people in either. I'm torn though, I had enough fun with it in beta that I'm tempted...
Feel free to ask questions, if I can answer any I will.

Game should be out today. I think the article that was linked was pretty extreme. It seemed very sensationalist to me and probably isn't the best article to fully judge the game on. I played the beta quite a bit before release and while there's quite a few negatives about it, there's also quite a lot that was good too. Give me a little bit (probably later tonight after I get the family fed ) and I'll post up my thoughts on the beta.

Which person did you chose to play? I just beat the first boss on Ventus' campaign and it wasn't too bad. Took a couple of tries. It definitely seems like you really need to understand all of the intricacies of the combat system. Using the D-Link system and linking up with Aqua really helped that fight since it gave me the ability to self heal.

I look forward to hearing what you have to say about the fatigue system. I also wish the UI was better, my main issue with the UI is how horribly laggy it is, even with a controller. Despite the UI tho, I'm falling for the game. I really dig the setting / graphics / music. Having a blast with it really. If they can improve the UI lag and the fatigue stuff, I may be sold
