1561  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / The Trader Feedback List (old) on: October 13, 2004, 12:27:36 PM
+1 to LanceM.  Thanks for Fable...it's great so far.
1562  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / The Trader Feedback List (old) on: October 13, 2004, 12:27:08 PM
Quote from: "Zarkon"
My opinion would be this:  The people who're Gold Traders and Fools Gold should go over at the minimum required for that (+10 and -3).  Anyone else should come over with theirs intact.  Unless people would rather the entire thing come over intact.  I don't want to seem like invading forces, after all.

That would basically suck.  A lot of us spent years of building up trust and getting our feedback into the 30-100+ range and we shouldn't lose that.  I'm willing to start over here but I would like it noted that I did have 34+ or whatever on gonegold before starting at 0 again at consolegold.  Maybe a feedback rating like +3 (34 GG).
1563  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Paypal takes a dump!! on: October 13, 2004, 12:22:25 PM
Did they ever post any explainations as to what happened?
1564  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Need some DMV and California law related advice. on: October 13, 2004, 12:21:07 PM
Get a lawyer and do it quick.  Fines and penalties from the DMV add up very quickly, never go away and can prevent her from getting another car, her license or insurance.
1565  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / I Hate Consoles! on: October 13, 2004, 12:19:20 PM
I hate consoles too but I still have all three of the them plus every major one back to the 2600.  They are expensive, the games are short and expensive, the accessories are outrageous and they are all damn fun to play especially when you don't have hours to devote to my favorite...the computer RPG.
1566  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / I Like Vodka, Yes I do! on: October 13, 2004, 12:17:33 PM
I love the flavored vodkas...ones like Citron, etc.  Mixes up a good collins and damn so good.  Side note - never drink vodka and blue kool-aid (smurf piss to those that know) after eating hershey kisses.  Not a good combination in either direction.
1567  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Best commercial! on: October 13, 2004, 12:15:03 PM
Another WTF one for the creepy scary Burger King commercial.  What the hell were they thinking...if I ever woke up with a man wearing a mask in my bed the last thing I'd be thinking about is food.

Of course since I've given up most fast food I've noticed every other commercial 24/7 is a food advertisement.
1568  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Tivo Mania! on: October 13, 2004, 12:11:47 PM
I turned the auto record stuff off about 2 weeks after getting it.  It was recording 1 show I wanted and 9 others I didn't just about every day.  So I just set up 15 or so season passes, another 15 or so on my other Tivo upstairs and now don't worry about it.

There is a new feature...HMO or the Home Media Option.  It's supposed to let you share the TiVo recordings from multiple units (if you have 2-3 in your house) over the network so you can watch any recorded show from any of them.

Now if I could get a TiVo with a built in DVDR that wasn't the price of a small car it would be perfect.
1569  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / So where did you go for your Honeymoon? on: October 13, 2004, 12:06:35 PM
We went to Sandals in Nassau and loved it.  Sandals is great but it is damn expensive...I couldn't have gone if I didn't work for a travel agency (back when we still got those type of deals and cheap airfare).  The good thing about it is you are so active with everything included you don't put on weight from the 2000 calories a day in mixed drinks you have smile  Loved it but couldn't afford to go back now.
1570  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Non-gamers don't get gamers. on: October 12, 2004, 02:04:41 PM
I'm fairly lucky in that my wife plays a small section of games.  She hates RPG games (my favorites) and adventure/story games but loves and plays games like Might and Magic, Diablo, Sacred, Age of Empires and a lot of various console games.
1571  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Anyone have URL for Bill's blog? on: October 12, 2004, 01:32:24 PM
Thank you...I was looking for this too.  I need to watch out or I will have more blogs saved than normal web pages (and it's getting close already).
1572  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Paypal takes a dump!! on: October 12, 2004, 01:29:54 PM
I can get to the front page but it's timing out when I try to log in.  Good thing I don't need access to it in the next few days.
1573  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / DSL Recommendations that aren't Roadrunner on: October 11, 2004, 08:59:47 PM
Try a site like http://dslbroker.com/ and see if any hits come up.  The biggest problem may be the price...if you don't have any big names in the area then it's probably not going to be cheaper than RR.
1574  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / DSL Recommendations that aren't Roadrunner on: October 11, 2004, 07:11:07 PM
Where do you live?  Do you have the option for any of the following (for DSL): Alltel, Bell South, CTCommunications or NW Telecom?
1575  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / I want the Nintendo DS to fail on: October 11, 2004, 05:09:48 PM
I don't care either way but it bothers me that it doesn't play the old GB/GBC games.  I still have a lot of them and still play them when the urge hits.  I'm also very happy with the size of the SP and the fact it looks like a adult PDA instead of a kid's gaming system (I had a flight attendent ask if I wanted a glass of milk when she saw me playing on the old GBA I had.)  I would still by a DS though if I could get $100 for my SP...I can't so I doubt I'll get the DS.
1576  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 has gone gold! on: October 11, 2004, 05:06:29 PM
Hopefully improved from the demo they released (I know the demo is usually months old technology).  I loved the first one and thought the second one was so blah.

1580  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / The Trader Feedback List (old) on: October 11, 2004, 04:49:33 PM
+1 to stiffler (I totally forgot to post this, sorry about that).

Now that GG appears to be gone is there any chance of migrating our feedback over here (until the new trading site/section/database is running)?  I do have the trader feedback page from Oct 2 archived thanks to google.

BTW, I'd be happy to volunteer to get the thread close to up to date (especially if we start migrating old GG feedback and the trading picks up).
1581  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Is there anyone who still needs/wants a Gmail invite? on: October 11, 2004, 01:45:32 PM
Does anyone have the (legitimate) site you can donate unused gmail invites to for the serviceman.
1582  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [FAQ] GoneGold on: October 11, 2004, 01:32:16 AM
I vote to stay here if GG is gone.  If we start to splinter off into different forums then it will become a permanent break and the main gonegold community will cease to exist.

Everything that has happened seems to point to a bad end for GG.  The account terminated, the mods know nothing, no emails from the big boss, hung up on from the phone number and no news after days of waiting.  Even when it was bad it wasn't this bad.

Hell, someone could always grab the domain next year and establish the forums again when it expires next year...better some of us than a big site (gamespy, ign, etc) grabbing it for the name recoqnization and saved favorite listings.
1583  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Anyone else having problems with Gone Gold? (Pt. 2) on: October 10, 2004, 02:06:14 PM
To save the old threads...what about using google's web cache?  It's usually up to date for the most part and goes back a while.
1584  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Anyone else having problems with Gone Gold? (Pt. 2) on: October 10, 2004, 01:25:38 AM
Hell I've been on here almost since the redesign and it still took me two days to think to come and check for news about GG here.  Oh well...I'm sure someone will let us know eventually...even if it is just a good bye and thanks for all of the fish message.
1585  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Xenosaga episode 1: Der Wille Sur Macht on: September 15, 2004, 12:31:23 PM
I've bought it myself but it's been on my "get to it soon" shelf for months.  If I didn't have a backlog of 15+ games and a job and a family  biggrin

Of course I've read the second episode has major graphical changes with it going to more realistic character models and the normal graphical upgrades.
1586  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Gone Gold having server problems again? on: September 15, 2004, 12:25:24 PM
I usually hit the site in the early morning.  You would think that with a couple thousand members and the constant complaining that someone would get on the ball and fix the damn problems.
1587  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / New Pokemon GBA games for $20 at Best Buy this week on: September 15, 2004, 12:23:37 PM
I doubt they would be compatible...the DS has built in 802.11 wireless while the GBA wireless is designed for games like Pokemon and Mario Golf.  Of course the DS is $200 and doesn't play non GBA games so they both have tradeoffs smile
1588  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / New Pokemon GBA games for $20 at Best Buy this week on: September 13, 2004, 09:50:07 PM
The two new Pokemon games (Leaf Green and Fire Red) are on sale this week at Best Buy for $24.99. Get one of the gamer's cards they have throughout the store, pop down the price of the game (around $21 or any amount you want starting around $1) and then use the card and $5 off $20 coupon that's with it for a total pre tax price of $19.99.

Even if you hate the Pokemon games it's still a good deal because they include the GBA wireless adapter which is sold seperately for $20. So you could always get it, trade the game and keep the adapter if you were going to get one anyway.
1589  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Trade 2 and get any preowned game for 9.99 - Gamerush stores on: July 26, 2004, 10:38:32 PM
This has worked out really well for me so far.  I've managed to get

Chronicles of Riddick
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
Baldurs Gate II
Fatal Frame II
Spiderman 2
Luigi's Mansion

All for a grand total of around $55.  And I got rid of a bunch of games that were worth almost nothing that nobody wanted in trade including ancient sports titles.  Still looking for Crimson Skies and Ninja Gaiden.
1590  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Trade 2 and get any preowned game for 9.99 - Gamerush stores on: July 19, 2004, 08:49:51 PM
There is a trade in deal at Gamerush stores (certain Blockbuster videos).  The trade deal is trade in any 2 (PS1, PS2, XBox, GC or GB/GBA) games and get any preowned game for 9.99. I took 4 cheapo games I got at Circuit City (4.99 each) and traded them at gamerush using the trade deal.   I got the credit for the games (total of $26) so I walked out with Spiderman 2 and Fatal Frame II and $4 in credit for $20 total purchase (not including tax). Fantastic deal...now I'm just waiting for them to get some more games I want in...like Riddick and Sudeki.  I don't know how often they get games in but one of the clerks said they had over 100 games traded in last Monday.  Should be a good rotation of stock.

EDIT - trade in deal only good at Gamerush areas in certain Blockbuster stores. Check out www.gamerush.com for locations.

EDIT2 - You get credit for the games you trade in and you get to use the trade 2 deal at the same time.  Your credit, if it's enough, will apply towards the 9.99.

This is great for newer high dollar games like Spiderman 2, Riddick, Fatal Frame 2, Sudeki, etc.  Also since there are no exclusions you can trade old sports games and other near worthless games to get in on the deal (though you will get next to no credit for credit for them).
1591  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Want Disgaea, Harvest Moon, D&D Heroes, BG2 Xbox, expans on: July 12, 2004, 03:59:41 PM
Ok I'm looking for the following games:

REALLY WANT:
Disgaea PS2
Harvest Moon GC
Zoo Tycoon Marine Mania expansion
Baldur's Gate 2 XBox

WANT:
Harvest Moon PS2
D&D Heroes XBox
WC3 Frozen Throne expansion PC
NWN 2nd expansion PC
Final Fantasy X PS2

I'm also looking for an instruction manual and box for Tactics Ogre for the GBA. Don't need the game. I'm also looking for strategy guides for Disgaea and Tactics Ogre for the GBA.

Plenty to trade including DVDs. May consider buying if it's a good price...will reimburse with extras if you have an extra copy of Disgaea or Tactics Ogre from CC sale this past weekend. My ELOG listing is the very bottom of page 2.

I also have the XBox live sealed 1 year kit, Railroad Tycoon 3 NEW, Beyond Divinity and some other newer games in addition to the ELOG.
1592  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Target: La Pucelle Tactics for $19.99 YMMV on: July 12, 2004, 03:58:38 PM
The ones in Charlotte, NC and Rock Hill, SC appear to have the markdown.  From the other forums I would say most of the Targets have it at this price but it's sold out in most places.
1593  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Circuit City 5 hour sale 7/12 only game accessories 25% off on: July 12, 2004, 03:57:20 PM
The 5 hour sale today includes most of the game controllers and most of the memory cards.

Some examples:

Microsoft S Controller - $22.49
Logitech Wireless XBox Controller - $27.49 after $10 rebate
Sony PS2 Controller - $18ish
GC Wavebird - $26ish

Sale ends 4pm EST
1594  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Titanium Breast Implants?! on: June 23, 2004, 02:07:24 PM
There are other uses to this...including breast replacement from cancer or correcting one breast which is radically out of proportion to the other.  To each their own.
1595  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [Xbox] Fable coming soon, quotes from preview on: June 01, 2004, 05:29:40 PM
These are quotes from a gamespot preview available on ebgames.com.

The bad:
Quote
While Fable's gameplay was originally slated to be a very open-ended experience that had your character aging and developing based on your progress and play style, respectively, the game has since headed in a more-structured direction. Fable uses an action-role-playing game approach in which your character will gain experience levels by accruing experience points. The game will have four main kinds of experience: general, strength, skill, and will. Performing specific tasks will earn you various amounts of general experience, as well as a certain amount of specific experience in either strength, skill, or will.

The good:
Quote
While character development may not have wound up offering quite as many options as it set out to, the actual gameplay certainly has. One of the major components of the game that was originally announced was that you were going to be able to be as good or as evil as you wanted. Unlike most RPGs, which tend to firmly lock you in the roles of virtuous, milk-drinking heroes who save kittens and damsels in distress, Fable gives you the option to instead be a vice-laden, liquor-chugging cad who kills small animals and terrorizes the locals.

I don't know quite what to make of them.  It seems like they removed most of what was truly interesting and revolutionary and made it another pretty RPG.  Current release date is 9/13/04 so at least it's close
1596  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Game Boy Advance-Worth it? on: May 27, 2004, 02:04:16 AM
Count me in the love the GBA SP camp.  I keep mine in the car and it's great to pass the time anytime and anywhere (except where I would look like a total geek playing...then I play games on my cell phone instead smile).  I've put probably 100 hours or more in and there are so many games available for it it's almost unreal.
1597  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Nintendo DS question on: May 27, 2004, 01:58:30 AM
I noticed the DS has 802.11 wireless but doesn't anyone know if it will have bluetooth?  I don't see it mentioned in the specs but I remember an article a few weeks back discussing it.  I just can't find the article.

And: Is the 802.11 b or g?
1598  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Previews ruining your dinner? on: May 27, 2004, 01:55:25 AM
I avoid game previews like the plague...hate having something that happens ten hours into it told to me before I ever get the game.  I love movie previews though...except the ones that show scenes from the ending...I mean come on.
1599  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Contests on: May 27, 2004, 01:53:49 AM
Do you reply to everyone who enters the current contest?  I'd hate to enter only to find out my email was never received and I was never in the running.  Does it matter if I send the email through hotmail and my normal home email address (only reason I'm asking is that someone complained they didn't receive my roadrunner email I sent a few days ago).  Maybe you could setup an automated response on the contest email alias saying "entry received, thank you" or something like that.
1600  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What do you do when... on: May 27, 2004, 01:50:09 AM
I have a large stack of green XBox OEM cases if anyone is interested.  I would ship them at cost plus a couple dollars or maybe trade for an old game, something like that.  I have at least 20...some with the sports holograms on them if that matters.  These were all pulls from purchased games not aftermarket.  Just email me.
