I cancelled LA Noire and preordered this on PC.  While I had a blast playing CODBLOPS on xbox, I sucked.  I play a lot better on the PC, so this time, it's PC.

The problem is everyone else plays better on PC too. Its all relative.  I prefer console FPS's because at least everyone is on a level playing field hardware wise.

Like it was for the Dreamcast.

I don't see any way that Patrick Peterson gets past 6.  He's in the top 3 on many boards and if he falls to Cleveland, they'd be flooded with offers to trade down.  Houston would like to move up to get Peterson.  So I don't see the 49ers getting Peterson unless they move up.

As a Browns fan I want them to take Peterson if he's there.  They would be set in the secondary with TJ Ward and Joe Hayden from last years' draft.  I'd be OK with Quinn.  But under no circumstances to I want them to take a WR, even if they trade down I'd like to see them take Bowers or Nick Fairley if he falls.

I think what's great about the books is that so many of the "bad guys" are not black and white good/evil. Yes, the queen is a nutcase and Joffrey is a dink, but as the story goes on, you will be often torn on how to feel about about Jaime, Tyrion, The Dog, Littlefinger, etc.

Agreed.  I haven't watched the TV version yet.  But I am very happy they got a good actor to play Tyrion because he is my favorite character in the series.  I also grew to like Jaime more and more despite how he starts off.

Both the Gamecube and the Wii just gathered dust in my attic. I honestly can't see myself ever buying another Nintendo console.  There is nothing they could announce that would get me to buy this.

I'm loving the beta so far.

If you get on a bad team things can get ugly because you cannot go it alone in this game.

But if you get on a team with 2 or 3 guys who work together it's great fun.

Plus, there's no benefit for Sony and Microsoft to rush a platform to market. Between the two of them, the 360 is the longest in the tooth, and it still looks good. Nintendo is really the only one who needs to get something out pronto or they'll lose all of their momentum.

That momentum was lost months ago.

It seems like all of those games are either snoozers (Vagrant Story, FF 3, Sims, ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz) or games you have already played.  You need a pallet cleanser.

Play Bulletstorm.

Finished Bulletstorm a couple weeks ago, thought it was pretty fun (in short bursts).

I got a free copy of Gears of War with Bulletstorm, and fired it up for a while on Saturday.  I was bored to tears within the first hour.  Talk about a snoozer...I will never understand the love for that game.

Yeah Knowing your gaming tastes I definitely would not recommend Gears.  icon_biggrin

But Bulletstorm is so crazy and over the top I think even people who don't normally play shooters can enjoy it.  It's a nice break from games that take themselves too seriously. And can be played in short bursts.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Really looking forward to this one and am actually thinking of going through 2 again.

I agree.  If someone were to tell me that of all games, Gears of War would have the best companion novels I would have laughed at them.  But the books are very solid reading IMHO.

I went through the first 2 levels of instruction, but it wasn't what I was looking for, so I just went to play some songs.  What I was looking for (maybe you can help me) is to play songs using the chord shapes, but perhaps not jumping up and down the neck from say 5th fret to 13th for some fiddly single notes.  It looks like easy has you plucking 1 note at a time, medium has a partial chord and hard is more what I'm looking for with full chords, but they also sprinkle in those fiddly single notes.

Maybe I just need better song selection?

It sounds like you want to play rhythm guitar, but these music games have always been a combination of rhythm and lead guitars. I think your best bet is going to find the songs that feature a lot of rhythm guitar and play those.

And if we ever get another Rock Band game, splitting out rhythm and lead for guitar is definitely on my short list of desired new features. I've always preferred just strumming away at chords.

Play all of the Foo Fighters songs.   icon_biggrin

Out of curiosity, does pro make you use double bass pedals for that song?

No.  Only one pedal is charted.  There are a few songs on RBN that have both pedals actually charted.  But I have never tried them.

Gonna have to with wonderpug on that one too. wrap or not, gamestop offers no deals, so that alone is reason for me to never look at them. Why buy a used game when in 30-60 days you can get it new and most likely cheaper than gamestop's shitty used price. there's just zero reason to even acknowledge gamestop as a competitor. the price war between amazon and walmart is all we need. then there's steam for pc games.

This is simply not true.

If you have the discount card and take advantage of the used game specials you can certainly get very good deals as long as you are willing to wait.  I agree that there are usually much better deals out there for day one purchases.  But I am much less likely to run out an buy games the day they come out than I used to be.

The only thing "wrong" with doing it is that GS is getting the profits from products that they don't make. Their supplier isn't the gaming industry, it's gamers.

Perhaps that doesn't matter to you, and I'm not one to tell people how to live their lives - I generally buy my games new so that I know I've contributed to their success.

I understand your points.  And I don't begrudge publishers adding incentives for buying their games new.  Things such as one time use multiplayer codes, dlc, etc.  But in the meantime as a consumer I choose to get the best value for me.  I am not overly concerned with who gets the money on the back end.  I would guess that Gamestop sells more new games than they otherwise would by offering trade-in incentives on new releases.  Also this type of thing happens in plenty of other industries other than gaming.  But I never hear the same type of online hate directed at Half Price Books, DVD Rental stores, or even people who sell games all the time here on this site.

The Gamestop business model is a house of cards and right now it's the equivalent of a corner store smash and grab. I'm willing to bet that the next gen of consoles do away with it or at least cripple the gobs of money being made.

So the next generation of consoles won't let people play preowned games?

Is that a good thing in your view?

Can you play Crysis with a controller? I suppose I can look that up.

Why, oh god why?!?  You are on a PC.  With a superior control scheme for first person shooters.  We must schedule you for trip to the PC "re-education camp".

icon_lol I just don't like playing shooters with mouse and keyboard. I like a nice analog stick for movement and not having to remember what weapon is on key "5". And I suck holding down right mouse for iron sights and then shooting and moving at the same time. I also tend to play on my couch with a lap computer tray, so the range of movement for the mouse is limited for quick movement. If necessary I can play in a proper chair at a proper desk frown

I'm the same way.  I used to be a PC gamer way back when.  But years of playing FPS games on consoles have made me prefer the 360 controller even in PC shooters.  I much prefer the analog thumb stick movement of the left stick over using wasd with my fingers.  Also I am much more comfortable with the gamepad in my hands than hunched over a keyboard.  It may sound crazy, but it's true.

Not sure yet.

Bulletstorm has some neat MP, but don't expect a rental to do it - there is only one deathmatch mode included with only one map; to get the other six maps plus two other modes you need to buy the game for the code or buy an 800pt license off Live.

No rentals.

I'll be buying one of them.  Leaning towards Killzone since I haven't fired up the PS3 in a long while.
