Man I so wanted some Cowboys payback...  I just knew that the Cowboys were going to blow it though, it was just a matter of when and against who.

Oh well, looks like we drew the Vikings.  The Vikings are going to be a real test for us.  Let's hope we bring the A game again like we did against Arizona!  I am sort of torn because I always wanted to see Brett get his Superbowl win.  I won't be too torn up if we beat them though!  smile

Dead and Buried (released in 1981) completely blew me away.  This movie was creepy as hell!  It's a must see for anyone that enjoys scary movies IMHO.

I have to plug this one even though it was released in 1999!  Anyone that has deprived themselves of the pleasure of watching "The Boondock Saints" needs to watch this movie immediately.  It's that awesome AND available on Watch It Now through Netflix!  smile  The 1st time I saw it (last year I am so ashamed...) I immediately watched it again.  smile

I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that the system worked for you!  I think a lot of people would be more than a little surprised at just how difficult and time consuming the process is that you went through.  Being disabled myself, I know from experience that it is very difficult and most certainly never a sure thing.

Except for the fact that the way they've been playing lately, they are only going to get one game.  crybaby

So, so, true.  Unless something changes bigtime, we are more than likely not going to make it past our 1st playoff game.

The Saints blew it yesterday and they have no one but themselves to blame for that.  They should have won that game.  When you are playing that badly on both sides of the ball this late in the season it's really, really, not a good sign.  I know we have tons of injuries (especially defensively) but damn, we should have been able to handle the Bucs easily.  I now fear that the Saints won't even win a single playoff game this year.  The odds of us winning home field advantage for the playoffs are not good - especially when we face a divisional rival that put 41 on the board yesterday.  They better bring it next weekend against the Carolina Panthers if they want Home Field advantage for the playoffs.

What the f%$#?!  It's like they have nothing left since they won big against the Patriots.  Do they have any game left?

I just started using Hybir Backup.  It works very well for me and it's pretty reasonably priced as well.

I used Jungledisk with Amazon S3 for a while and that was really good as well.  Jungledisk has been around for a while now and it's rated pretty high by users.

You also could do it yourself and get a NAS device.  There are tons of Networked Attached Storage solutions around to pick from.

The second one, I was eliminated in Week 13 when Oakland beat Pittsburgh with less than a minute to go. The third one (I was one of the last three from a starting pool of about 40), I was eliminated in Week 15 by, you guessed it, Oakland beating Denver with less than a minute to go. frown

Okay.  The Saints got the loss out of the way.  Now let's get back to playing some good football.  They have been playing very badly in the past few games and are lucky to have only dropped 1 to be brutally honest.  I hate that it was the freaking Cowboys that they lost to and played so badly against (with the exception of some of the 4th quarter..).

We should be able to win the remainder of our games before getting a much-needed rest with our 1st round bye.  I just hope we can lock up Home Field advantage.  It would be great for the city of New Orleans and all the Saints fans.

Copyright is not bogus but the idea that file sharing is the sole thing that is destroying their industry is ludicrous.  They have destroyed their industry themselves.

I don't believe anyone has ever said that. Did someone actually say that file sharing is the sole (i.e. one and only thing) that is destroying the industry?

That is the general opinion of all of the different versions of the Recording Industry.  If they could just stop "Piracy" then everything would be alright and their profit margins would manically be restored.  Their "Legal campaign" against individual file sharers and piracy in general demonstrates this fact pretty clearly.  They remain focused on propping up their old and dying business model (selling plastic discs) and use file sharing and piracy as the scapegoat for why this business model is dying rather than moving forward and coming up with some new business models that harness the Internet and the idea of "Infinite Goods".

I have absolutely no sympathy for the Recording Industry hypocrites and I hope they go down for this.  At the very least, it clues in the Artists and Musicians that the Recording Industry is not looking out for them and their best interests.

I don't believe that the Recording Industry's campaign of suing individuals for copyright infringement is any good since they seem to do the same thing themselves.  The irony here is that there appears to be actual evidence instead of just an IP address like what they use for evidence.  Hopefully, this will set some sort of precedents so we can move past this ludicrous issue of "Piracy".

Copyright is not bogus but the idea that file sharing is the sole thing that is destroying their industry is ludicrous.  They have destroyed their industry themselves.

62  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Canadian Recording Industry Hit With $6 Billion Copyright Lawsuit on: December 08, 2009, 12:47:26 AM
I had such a lovely conversation with some of you arguing about "Piracy" that I thought you guys would be interested to know this.  It appears that someone else has joined me as a "Infringement Apologist".

Michael Geist explains:

"The claims arise from a longstanding practice of the recording industry in Canada, described in the lawsuit as "exploit now, pay later if at all." It involves the use of works that are often included in compilation CDs (ie. the top dance tracks of 2009) or live recordings. The record labels create, press, distribute, and sell the CDs, but do not obtain the necessary copyright licences.

Instead, the names of the songs on the CDs are placed on a "pending list", which signifies that approval and payment is pending. The pending list dates back to the late 1980s, when Canada changed its copyright law by replacing a compulsory licence with the need for specific authorization for each use. It is perhaps better characterized as a copyright infringement admission list, however, since for each use of the work, the record label openly admits that it has not obtained copyright permission and not paid any royalty or fee.

Over the years, the size of the pending list has grown dramatically, now containing over 300,000 songs. From Beyonce to Bruce Springsteen, the artists waiting for payment are far from obscure, as thousands of Canadian and foreign artists have seen their copyrights used without permission and payment."

My gosh the Saints gave me a freaking heart attack yesterday!  Some crazy shit went down in the game that is for sure.  That redskins interception/saints strip and td thing was just nuts - the standard of "Conclusive Proof" for overturning calls worked in the Saints favor on that one.  Thanks goes to the Redskins kicker for choking on a chipshot field goal!

Hey - a win is a win is a win right?!  smile

Next up, the Atlanta Falcons.  In our previous meeting this season they definitely gave us all we could handle so IMHO this is going to be our toughest game and one we could most certainly lose.  We'll see what happens.  I'm so prooud to be a long time Saints fan right now regardless of what happens for the rest of the regular season or the post-season.  GO SAINTS!!!  WHO DAT!?

The Health Insurance Industry's main motivation is profit gain and as such, they cover their insured in a manner that allows for the most profit.  They achieve this by constantly looking for ways to deny costly claims and/or procedures which in some cases ultimately leads to cancellation of coverage and they do this retroactively so it could possibly apply to a previous claim that they paid.

The trans-gender surgery thing is a non-issue to me from a personal standpoint as I don't care either way.  I can pretty much guarantee though that the benefit was added because they anticipate that it will be a state-mandated benefit at some point (if it isn't already).  I can also guarantee that they are not just paying for any trans-gender surgery, it's more than likely a case-by-case basis under very strict guidelines that many who request the surgery will not meet.

If the Saints secondary is healthy by the time we play the Patriots then I don't think a Patriots win is a given.  Make no mistake, the Saints are a complete team this season and they have the weapons offensively, defensively, and special teams wise to beat anyone in the league.

I'm thinking anyone's game and scoring that is in the 30 to 40 point range for both teams.  It should be a good battle and hopefully the Saints are ready for it.

This is a team that could make it to the Super Bowl.

They are clearly the best team in football right now. They don't have a weak spot at all. Offensively they can beat you to through the air or on the ground, and on defense they cause havoc and force a lot of turnovers. I don't think they go undefeated, but they have a really good shot at representing the NFC in the Super Bowl.

I agree with saying the Saints are the best team in football right now, but I'm not ready to jump on their bandwagon quite yet.  I really can't properly evaluate them.  They played the Jets in the middle of a 4 game losing streak, the Giants in the midst of a 3 game losing streak, the Eagles when they didn't have their starting QB, a bad Buffalo team in the midst of a 3 game losing streak, a Miami team that hasn't won a game outside their division, Detroit and a decent Atlanta team.

They're explosive, that's for sure.  But I'm not convinced that they're really a great team, nor that they can compete in a tough, physical game.  But then again, I'm not sure they'll play one this entire season.  This may be one of the least-tested teams going into the playoffs.  I see only 3 challenging games and they have two of those at home (the Patriots and Dallas).  The only road game they have that looks tough is at Atlanta, who plays in a dome.

I remain a skeptic when it comes to the Saints.  I think there's little doubt they make the playoffs and will play at home, but I wonder what will happen when a tough, physical team punches them square in the mouth.  They remind me a bit of the "Greatest Show on Turf" Rams teams.  But that team, for all its regular-season success, barely won one Super Bowl because they had a hard time physically competing in close games.

I am so confused with the Saints this season.  Given any other season, I would agree with you outright on every point.  Being a Saints fan is the very definition of being a skeptic because you are normally just waiting for the inevitable collapse.  This season though, I just don't know what to think.  8-0 man, first time in franchise history!  The thing I keep going back to that makes me think this might be our season is the way that they are winning.  Blowouts, comebacks, and everything in between it all seems to be there and the end result keeps on coming out as a win.

I can say as long as I have seen the Saints play and been a fan, I have never seen them maintain the intensity or be as complete of a team as they seem to be this season.  Anything can happen but seriously?  Down 24-3 at halftime only to come back and win the game 46-34 coming off of a 48-27 win against the Giants?!  Really?  That to me is impressive and I think it indicates how deep the Saints are and gives us a glimpse of a Superbowl contender this year.

The hardest thing for me has been dealing with the fact that the Saints being down doesn't necessarily mean that they are out.  It's completely confused my beer-fueled-what-the-hell-are-you-doing temper tantrum response and left me with a vague feeling of hope that's just not normal for me to associate with being a Saints fan.  smile

The rest of their schedule is in a word SCARY though.  Lot's of teams with nothing to lose and more losses than wins.  This is classic Saints choking material.  We shall see what is in store for us and if they are for real.

NO.  It's not worth it for me.  I wasn't talking about Patents at all you brought them up.  Why?  The world of Patents are screwed up beyond belief just as the other things we are discussing are.  The fact of the matter is that current Patent Laws have led to things like Patent Hoarding and numerous other problems that are in no way good.  Google East Texas and Patents some time and see what you come up  with.

Heh, about the same really.  See the BSA's yearly propaganda about how many billions in lost sales due to piracy.  An illegal download equals a lost sale?  I don't think so.  Music?  Software?  It's all the same.

I see - so, in your experience, there is no correlation whatsoever?  That no pirate would ever, under any circumstance, pay for a legitimate copy instead?

I dunno.  My take is that most would more than likely pay if there was a legitimate service offering that appealed to them.  I just don't think that there is such a thing presently and it doesn't appear that the RIAA/MPAA are very interested in listening.  To me, if you get exposure and the product is good, it's going to generate sales, regardless of the piracy issue.  I'm sure there are lot's that do it because they can and because they despise the RIAA/MPAA too.
