I have been certified for many years and my current level of PADI certification is dive master. Being underwater is great, when you are under you don't think of anything but the sites you are seeing and keeping yourself and others safe. It is a great activity / hobby.
The best advice I can give is not to get overwhelmed when going through training, go at your own pace, relax, and listen to the instructors on advice they give you specifically. You get to meet great people you dive with, I have meet so many friends I have now on trips from different locations and we still keep in touch. It is very much a gadget activity as there is so much gear involved and different types of diving. My current specialty is underwater video photography. I love shooting film of me and my wife diving so we can watch it later.
I did some diving in curacao about four years ago and it was great. I dont' remember where, sunset something, but it was great diving there and I would take the opportunity if you have it.
If you have specific questions I can try to answer them or point you to a location for answers. Most of my dives are wreck dives off of North Carolina. Another good source is scubaboard.com .

Also as a diver I am interested. I got the first one and did not dig it much, but with a story I will have to look in to this. While I am dry dock it could be fun.
Edit: I would love this on the xbox or ps3 for graphic reasons only.

I just finished the single player game and it was good. Not the same as when I played Bioshock, but I enjoyed the game. It was harder than I expected on medium, a few times I thought I should have played it on easy, but I finished on medium. Did not do MP and probably will not. It was fun, but no Bioshock which is one of my fav games. In the end is was a great 11 hours of gaming....

Anyone want to play tonight? Last live game of the season. Pr0ner and I will be getting together around 9:45PM EST if anyone wants to party up. The more we have playing yelling out answers, the better chance of getting in the mob and winning prizes.
Wish I could, but this is competing with the Olympics opening!!!

I did enter googles dns servers in hopes of speeding it up (something I read somewhere) and I think it helped, but I could just be imagining it.
I don't know why this would matter. DNS lookups are done on connection establishment. Why would it make a download faster after that point? you are correct, it shouldn't. I sometimes I wish for anything to help with the ps3 downloads.

OK, so I've waited months to see a dvd/blu ray, 28 more days isn't going to kill me. Sorry Warner, i'm not going to run out and grab a new copy of something I'm not interested in buying it so I can see it sooner.
I agree. Right now I pretty much see no new releases on the 'instant watch'. I would rather wait and get on a stream, then wait 28+ days to get it via dvd or blu.

Does anybody have any recommendations on a irc client?
It looks like mIrc is the most popular, but I can only tell that from my internet searches.

I just got it over the weekend...still trying to figure out what the heck to do with it.
I don't think there is much to do with it yet. As people get invited and start using it I can see it turning in to a useful conversation tool. Part of the invite program from what I can see is to get early adopters to start clicking around to see what breaks and what new features (Gmail integration) need to be added. I don't use much of it, and many features need to be added but I think it is a cool idea.

Has anyone used one of the bluetooth > IR converters (like ps3toothfairy) to control the PS3 with a universal remote? I'm considering a PS3 as a replacement to my current DVD player but also looking for good solutions for having my universal remote control it for movies.
I have a nyko one and it worked ok. Just would not turn the system on. All the functionality was there but I got frustrated with it not turning the power on, so I bought the sony one. If you want it pm me.

Ok.
Got back with my 120gb Slim PS3 and the Blu-Ray remote.
We rented Wolverine on BD, and I have to say I'm not as wowed as I thought I would be. The overall picture is grainy. I've tweaked my TV settings using some recommended settings from the web. Maybe it's just this movie.
I don't have a grainy problem with the picture using bluray. My problem has been load times to boot the movie -checking for updates and loading. I just want to watch the movie. Sometimes I wish I rented the dvd to just get on to the show. congrats on the PS3 purchase!! Make sure to check out the game Pain for some awesome multiplayer fun (not online though).

This is probably just a test to see what size the market would like for the next gen nintendo handheld. Put out a bigger version and see what people would buy.

Thanks for all the input. I ended up going with iAntiVirus http://www.iantivirus.com/ for now. But it looks like to get full protection I will need to buy something like Norton. Oh god, for the love of baby Jesus, please don't get Norton. It's worse than a virus itself. It will fuck your machine up, and it's impossible to remove. Norton is a complete scam on OS X (and Windows too). Why are you so paranoid anyway? Do you routinely idiotically download random things from shady sites *and* grant it sudo access to your hard drive? The best antivirus is your brain. Nope not downloading from shady sites. For two reasons I want an antivirus. 1. There are viruses on a mac, that I will probably never get, but I don't want one. 2. I use thumb drives in it and transfer files with Win32 machines, the virus may not activate on the mac but will if I get it to the windows machine - could be a file I got from someone else. Just don't want any chance of a virus.
