You know what?  I just might.  I'll check when I get home.  Do you mean the EA one?  Or the Papyrus one?

Did you have a chance to check?

2  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / NASCAR 3 on: June 19, 2007, 02:48:15 PM
I know this is a long shot and that the game is about 80 years old, but I am going through a bunch of old league stuff and I need it.  Unfortunately, I can not find my CD anywhere.

Anyone still have this thing to sell?

Please let me know if you do

Can you sell just individual characters?  I have a 60 with Full T1 gear and about 1000g that I would not mind selling, but I do not want to get rid of my other characters

Tell me how many times you've played D&D by yourself.  I'll wait...

As far as the curse goes, I agree with you there, but a cleric can fix it at level 5.   They expect that you'll keep going instead of playing the same dungeons over and over.  I played through a few more than once just to help others out, but I have yet to repeat a dungeon.  Keep moving forward and so does the adventure.

What level were you when you quit?  If it wasn't 10 how can you make any comments on the amount of content?  There is a guy at work who plays nonstop and he has yet to run out of content.

What doesn't follow the PnP rules?  From what I've seen it is almost 100%

I used to play AD&D all of the time by myself.  I used to use the Random Dungeon Generator in the back of the DMG to create dungeons on the fly as I ran 4-5 characters.  It was a "honest" way for me to level them up to a certain level range instead of just creating level xx characters and "giving" them magic items.

There were also Solo modules out there that you could buy.. so personally I am tired of the argument of "you could not play D&D solo" when anyone brings up the fact that it is about impossible to play DDO solo.  It is simple not true that you could not play AD&D by yourself.
7  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW Atlas Gift Pack on: March 03, 2006, 05:44:31 PM
Has anyone purchased this from Blizzard or seen it in person?

It is a little expensive at $34.99 (to me anyways) but if the information is as thourough as the description says it is, it may be worth it.

9  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / First weekend with CoH - My thoughts on: October 31, 2005, 07:46:22 PM
Well I bought the game on Friday (or was it Thursday?) and I spent my first weekend playing it.

I probably put in a total of about 15-18 hours over the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).  My girlfriend was out of town so it was the perfect opportunity.

I started off by creating a Magic Scrapper on the Virtue server. I went with this combination because one of my favorite characters back in the days of playing Champions was a Knight that got xfered to the modern time though a magical means.  All of his powers came from magical items (sword, armor, etc).

After spending about 1 hour just getting his armor and stuff to look correct, I was off to learn about the game.   His name is TheRedKnight and he is the only character that I played the first night.

It took me awhile to get used to the controls since they are a tad different than WoW and I have been playing that for so long.  I think I got him up to level 5 the first night and to be honest.. just got completed bored of him, even at this low level.

So on Saturday I started a new character, this time a Mutant Blaster based on Fire Powers.  Her name is Lady Sunflare.  By the end of playing yesterday, I have gotten her up to level 9.  I like this character a lot more than playing my first one.   This one feels more like an actual superhero.

Now my overall impressions are .. well.. not the greatest.  I think back to when I started playing WoW and that game sucked me into it a lot more than CoH did.  I am only past my first few days and I can already tell that I may not even subscribe past my first initial month.

I never feel like I am playing a Superhero out of a comic book. Maybe this will change once I am done fighting this thugs on the streets, and I surely hope so.

I find the interface to be lacking compared to WoW.  Maybe it is just because I am not used to it yet, or maybe because WoW has all of the great mods for the game.  Does CoH have any mods that you can install to help with your interface options like WoW does?

I finally got to a mission with my lvl 9 character that required that I team up with other members for.  The Frostfire mission in The Hollows.    Now large groups of super heroes is quite confusing.  It just feels like a bunch of special effects filling your screen.  Very hard to tell what is gonig on around you.

The reason I quit playing yesterday was because the game crashed 3 times while we were trying to do this mission.  The first time it locked all of us up with some sound loop.  We all had to disconnect and reconnect (there were 6 of us).  The second time 3 of the players got disconnected and then the 3rd time all of us got disconnected again.  I just finally gave up.

I sure hope this is not how the whole mission is going to be or I am never going to get by it.

I have not joined a Superhero Group yet (I think you have to be level 10?) but I am looking forward to that.  That may help raise the enjoyment level of the game for me.

Anyways.. so far I am not that impressed with the game or that hooked.  It could be things that I am just missing.  Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome.
10  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Want to start CoH and CoV on: October 25, 2005, 04:26:13 PM
Another question I would like to ask..

I looked on and I did not see anything about CoH coming with a one month subscription already provided.

Does anyone know if it does come with one like WoW did?

Were these the clips where the kid was acting like he was some Super Rap Star or something?  (then the mother tells him to take out the trash or something like that)

They had those commercials before movies, it was for a thing that Coke was running where you could make your own music cds or something similar

13  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Want to start CoH and CoV on: October 25, 2005, 03:55:53 PM
I have always wanted to start playing CoH but I never got around to it.

I ended up playing WoW instead and while I did have alot of fun with it, my 3 month subscription is almost up and I am pretty much burned out on the game anyways.

So I was really thinking about starting up with CoH and CoV since it is almost out.

First question:  Has anyone heard if there is going to be a package that you can buy that will have both in it?

Second question: If I have to buy them seperately, is there a recommendation on which one I should start out with?   In a way I think it would be nice to start off with CoV since I would begin when everyone else does but another thought makes me think that it may be smarter to start off with CoH since there will be less players for awhile (since tons of people will go start playing CoV the day it comes out)

I really do not know much about the games other than it is based on Super Heroes and Villians (always a good thing).
14  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW is now spyware on: October 25, 2005, 03:29:51 PM
I personally do not have any issue with this whatsoever.  Especially since it is within my control to stop them from scanning any programs I do not want them to by not having them running. (such as email or whatever).

17  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Which Game to Get? on: April 06, 2005, 05:20:45 PM
Before I started this thread, I did not even know that Guild Wars existed.

I really like the idea of it being geared towards soloing and the fact that there is no subscription fee to it makes it that much better.  Especially since I know myself and I tend to have periods where I take a few weeks off between gaming.

Thanks for the info everyone!
18  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Which Game to Get? on: April 05, 2005, 06:05:15 PM
My wife has started a new job where she is traveling 4 days a week.  This give me Sunday Nights (sometimes), Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights where I am home by myself.

I have never played a Massive Multiplayer Online Game before (except the fact that I ran a MUD for about 4 years) and am thinking about getting into one of them

What I can say is that I enjoy Fantasy and Comic Books more than SciFi.

So I guess my first considerations would be WoW, EQ2 and COH?

Then to take it further... I would probably play solo 90% of the time.  Even when I ran the MUD, I was a solo type of player. I do not like to have to wait for others to form the perfect group, etc.. I just want to go go go.

So one that favors Soloing and would allow me to just log on for an hour a night or so would be the best for me.  I also do not want to spend too much on monthy costs..  Definately nothing over $20/month.  $15/month or less would be ideal for me.

Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

I had the same thing, but I'm not certain that the races were running in 1080i.  If they were, there were still an awful lot of jaggies going on.  From all the "OMG!!! the graphics in 1080i are better than real life!" I was expecting something special.  They were nice, but still awfully jaggy.

Glad I am not the only one that thinks this.  I just do not see the special graphics this thing is supposed to have in 1080i mode

So you can post a game that is open in your area or go find games in your area?

My wife just got a new job.  Good news is, alot more money.. bad news is, she will be gone from Monday til Thursday night.

More good news is that opens up things like this for me..

I would definately be interested in something like this (even if it is a new setting that I need to learn), especially if we did it on one of those nights

First, about the 2 that got "voted" off.

I do not think that they would be that unfair to those 2 players.  There are always going to be a few wierd nuts in the bunch (like the singing lady) and to kick them off without even giving them a chance just does not seem like something they would do.

I believe you will see them again. I think that within a few weeks you will see them in some fashion. More than likely they will be put back into the game.

So far I like the way the game has started, at least they are mixing things up a bit
