Same. They took way too long of a break that any little interest I did have in the show was lost during the months it was off.

I was thinking of picking one up, until I read it didn't have online multiplayer. (To start, anyway.)
Its completely unacceptable for a console to launch in 2013 without multiplayer, IMO.

I cancelled my Gold subscription years ago and moved to PS3 for all my online gaming. The way I looked at it was I could spend $60 on Call of Duty for the 360, or the same price for the PS3 version. The difference was, one was free to play while one had a monthly fee.
Still enjoy my 360 for singleplayer gaming though. Played the hell out of the GoW bots.
Just that while PS3, Vita, Wii, Wii U, PC, and even iOS and Android are all free to play online, Xbox is the only one charging for it. On principle I just cant bring myself to pay for something that is free everywhere else.

Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Gabby Gifford's Husband tires to save baby sea lion from dog attack
|
on: March 26, 2013, 08:39:47 PM
|
When Gabrielle Giffords' husband tore his daughter's bulldog from a baby sea lion, the damage was already done.
As the dead seal drifted out to sea, blood oozed from its neck where the bulldog had chomped down and refused to let go about 1:40 p.m. Saturday.
Former Arizona Congresswoman Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly, a retired astronaut, were on vacation in Laguna Beach, Calif., and his 18-year-old daughter, who took her 65-pound dog, on a leash, for a walk along Goff Cove Beach near the Montage Laguna Beach resort.
"If you have a dog of that stature and that power, they should be accompanied by someone who can handle a dog that is as powerful as an American bulldog," said Nathan, a fellow beachgoer who recorded the incident with his cellphone. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/gabby-giffords-husband-save-baby-sea-lion-dog-attack-video-article-1.1299274#ixzz2OgEvy2sMVideo is at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJwCGNAWdQc (Warning it's graphic.) Animals are having a rough time this week it seems. I'm with the others saying his daughter shouldn't have been walking a dog she was unable to control. What if the dog attacked a child instead of an animal?

Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / North Dakota Governor Signs Strict Abortion Law
|
on: March 26, 2013, 07:39:41 PM
|
Gov. Jack Dalrymple of North Dakota approved the nation’s toughest abortion restrictions on Tuesday, signing into law a measure that would ban most abortions and inviting a legal showdown over just how much states can limit access to the procedure.
Mr. Dalrymple, a Republican, signed into law three bills passed by the Republican-controlled State Legislature. The most far-reaching law forbids abortion once a fetal heartbeat is “detectable,” which can be as early as six weeks into a pregnancy. Fetal heartbeats are detectable at that stage of pregnancy using a transvaginal ultrasound.
Most legal scholars have said the law would violate the Supreme Court’s finding in Roe v. Wade that abortions were permitted until the fetus was viable outside the womb, generally around 24 weeks into pregnancy. Even some leaders of the anti-abortion movement nationally have predicted that laws banning abortion so early in pregnancy are virtually certain to be declared unconstitutional by federal courts.
“Although the likelihood of this measure surviving a court challenge remains in question, this bill is nevertheless a legitimate attempt by a state legislature to discover the boundaries of Roe v. Wade,” Mr. Dalrymple said in a statement. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/27/us/north-dakota-governor-signs-strict-abortion-limits.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0Have to love it when government steps in telling you what you can or can't do with your own body.

Also holding off until we learn more about the next Xbox. If the next Xbox confirms backwards compatibility with 360, it'll likely be a launch purchase for me. (Outside of short supply as I'm way too old to be camping out somewhere for a gaming system!) Will probably pick up more multiplatform games on the 360 over PS3 as well as it's a little easier to justify $60+ on a game when they still work on the next generation.
The PS4 even though still disappointed with the lack of BC, am slowly warming up to it. I'll probably end up buying one as soon as it sees it's first price drop. The PS3 still has a lot of life in it, IMO. Even to this day people still play MAG (although apparently I'm the only one on GT who does), one of the best games of all-time if you ask me. How many other FPS's, console or otherwise, support up to 256 players in a real-time battlefield?

Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Government spent nearly $3.7M on ex-presidents in 2012
|
on: March 26, 2013, 06:46:52 AM
|
Being the leader of the free world is an expensive proposition. And the costs don't stop once you leave the White House.
The government spent nearly $3.7 million on former presidents in 2012, according to an analysis just released by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service. That covers a pension, compensation and benefits for office staff, and the government also picks up the tab for other costs like travel, office space and postage.
The costliest former president? George W. Bush, who clocked in last year at just over $1.3 million.
The $3.7 million taxpayers shelled out in 2012 is about $200,000 less than in 2011, and the sum in 2010 was even higher. It's a drop in the bucket compared with the trillions the federal government spends each year.
Still, with ex-presidents able to command eye-popping sums for books, speaking engagements and the like in their post-White House years, the report raises questions about whether the U.S. should provide such generous subsidies at a time when spending cuts and the deficit are forcing lawmakers and federal agencies to seek ways to cut back. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/03/25/government-spent-nearly-37m-on-ex-presidents-in-2012/The benefits of being a tax payer.

Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Tucson gun store owner cancels purchase by Gabrielle Gifford's husband
|
on: March 26, 2013, 04:35:37 AM
|
The owner of a Tucson gun store where former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' husband purchased a semi-automatic rifle has canceled the transaction. Doug MacKinlay said Monday that a full refund was sent to Mark Kelly via express mail because the former astronaut didn't plan to keep the AR-15-style rifle for his personal use. Kelly bought the gun March 5 at Diamondback Police Supply, saying he wanted to show how easy it is to buy an assault weapon. He planned to turn it in to Tucson police. MacKinlay tells The Arizona Daily Star ( http://bit.ly/X6mRe1 ) that he terminated the transaction Thursday before Kelly could take possession of the firearm. Giffords was among 13 people wounded in a January 2011 shooting outside a Tucson supermarket that left six others dead. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/03/25/tucson-gun-store-owner-cancels-ar-15-purchase-by-gabrielle-giffords-husband/What does it matter if he's buying the gun for political reasons? So the gun store owner loses out on a sale and the guy goes next door to buy the same thing. In the end he stops nothing, other than losing out on a few dollars.

My Roku and Leaf will be here this week. I already have a Amazon Prime, MLB, and NHL membership. Honestly nothing on Hulu Plus excites me, so I might just sub to Netflix.
Plus there is quite a few stations on Roku I'm looking forward to.
I'll just have to wait until the last episode of The Walking Dead is done before I cut cable.
Sent from me cool phone
It all depends on what you watch. Netflix is good and has a lot of movies, but it doesn't have any of the current TV shows like Hulu does. Hulu Plus seems to be geared more towards those of us who want TV shows (current and old - there are countless series to choose from) while Netflix seems to be more focused on movies and picking up a TV show, if at all, a season or two later. I just recently dropped my Netflix subscription for Hulu Plus and really think it's the better of the two if on a tight budget.

Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Illegal immigrant uses video game log to qualify for Obama's amnesty
|
on: March 26, 2013, 04:25:39 AM
|
Only in Obama’s America could an unemployed, 25-year old, illegal immigrant use his video game log to prove residency and earn “deferred action” to stay in the country.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported the story of Jose Muñoz who hasn’t worked since graduating from high school in 2005, but sure logged a heck of a lot of hours playing video games on his Xbox Live.
Muñoz said he wanted to go to college and work, but without citizenship, it was impossible.
Enter President Obama’s amnesty plan, “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival for those in situations just like Muñoz’s – people who came here before they were 16 and were under 31 on June 15, 2012,” the paper said.
“For those qualified, deferred action allows them to remain in the country for two years and work and go to school without fear of deportation,” the article explained. “It’s renewable after two years.”
Muñoz quickly retained immigration attorney Davorin Odrcic to help apply.
Muñoz met all the requirements, “he had no criminal record, graduated from high school with honors and lived here since the age of 1,” his attorney said. But without a job, Muñoz couldn’t prove continued residency in the U.S. for the past five years.
So, lawyer Odrcic, a gamer himself, decided to use Muñoz’s Xbox Live account to prove Muñoz has been in the U.S. for the past five years. http://www.bizpacreview.com/2013/03/25/illegal-immigrant-uses-video-game-log-to-qualify-for-obamas-amnesty-57718Well there's one way to justify paying for Xbox Live..

It's not finished until The Hulk says so! Is a Hulk Hogan and Fallon Fox fight going to happen?
In comments to TMZ on Saturday, the Hulkster said he would be up for battling the transgender MMA star. In fact, Hogan said he would “crush” her.
“I’ll whip her. I mean, I’ll whip him,” Hogan said when asked by a photographer at LAX if he would welcome Fox into a wrestling ring.
Hogan’s long-time manager “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart was with the Hulkster and added, “If anybody can make money, let’s use them.”
While it doesn’t sound like Hogan has the idea for an actual fight, but instead would approach it from the scripted pro wrestling angle, it could certainly be a plausible angle for Hogan’s Impact Wrestling brand to pursue.
Fallon Fox came under fire after a quick knockout victory against opponent Ericka Newsome earlier this month. Up until that point, Fox had hidden the fact she was born as a man and lied on her application with Florida and California to get approval. http://www.inquisitr.com/587248/hulk-hogan-wants-a-piece-of-transgender-mma-fighter-fallon-fox/

Who would have guessed Lucy Lawless would go topless at age 40+.. and still look as good as she did!
The introduction of Julius Caesar was a good thing, IMO. I'm hoping that somehow Starz realizes just how many fans Spartacus had and might do some sort of "Rise and Fall of Caesar" series with the same blood, gore, and sex that we've all come to love Spartacus for.

Gearbox seems to be pretty happy with the PS4 so far. Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford is "really excited" about the PlayStation 4. Speaking during a panel at PAX East, the industry veteran not only stated his optimism for the new platform, but also praised Sony for inviting developers to the table when it came to designing the console itself.
"I'm really excited about it. I always love more power," Pitchford said of the PlayStation 4. "Since Sony's announced the PlayStation 4, I can probably at least say that it was really exciting for them to invite us to the process. That was new for Sony from our seat anyway." http://www.gamespot.com/events/pax-east-2013/story.html?sid=6405836

Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Video of New Mexico man shooting horse in head sparks outrage
|
on: March 23, 2013, 12:45:42 AM
|
An employee of a southeastern New Mexico slaughterhouse has posted a video online showing him fatally shooting a horse in the head.
That has sparked outrage among animal activists and led to death-threat calls to the Roswell meat company, which is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to get a horse slaughter plant in the area.
A maintenance contractor with Valley Meat Co. is shown in the video bringing a horse out of its pen, swearing at activists and then killing the horse with a single gunshot, KOB-TV reported Thursday.
Rick De Los Santos, a part-owner of Valley Meat Co., said he has been slammed with hate calls and death threats since the video hit the Internet. "I didn't have anything to do with that video. That's the honest truth," De Los Santos said.
De Los Santos said the contract worker, Tim Sappington, shot the video on his own time and at his own home.
"He shot a horse. That's what he eats. It's not against the law to slaughter your own horse," De Los Santos said. "Now, putting it on YouTube, I would not have done that." Last year, De Los Santos sued the USDA to resume the inspections necessary to open what would be the nation's first new horse slaughterhouse in more than five years. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/03/22/video-new-mexico-man-shooting-horse-in-head-sparks-outrage/?intcmp=obnetworkWasn't even aware it was legal in the United States. Mixed feelings on a horse slaughter house.. though ultimately I guess if the animal is used for food it's not a whole lot different than slaughtering a cow or a pig, IMO.

Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / [Android / iOS] UNO & Friends cross play multiplayer coming
|
on: March 23, 2013, 12:33:03 AM
|
Gameloft is totally a fan of UNO, and they’ve offered a version on Android for some time now. Today though, the folks from Gameloft have just released the official launch trailer for the all-new UNO & Friends cross platform multiplayer game that is coming soon. It will be available on Android, iOS, and Facebook and we’ll all be able to compete together. Today Gameloft released the official launch trailer, and it’s extremely cheesy to say the least. On the bright side it looks like they at least give us a few seconds to actually see the new and improved user interface for the classic game brought to our mobile devices for multiplayer fun. Get ready for those Draw 4 cards. It looks similar to Zynga Poker if you ask us – which is a good thing as that layout is quite simple and easy to understand. You’ll be able to create your own game and invite friends, family, and millions of other players from around the world – and of course request players from Facebook. This brings an entirely new level of UNO for Android from Gameloft. Here’s the cheesy video for your viewing pleasure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Ms532WoTVeoGameloft is definitely my favorite mobile publisher. Even when the PS Vita is still only pushing 8 player limits in online FPS's, Gameloft is throwing out games like NOVA 3 and Modern Combat 4 that do 12 player online matches complete with vehicles.
