I did the same thing a few weeks ago. I could swear I backed it in some way at some time but just couldn't find the email. Finally I found the right keyword and found my receipt.

I am really trying to keep myself from buying this. 2 months later I will have a brand new console that it won't play on. I will only be able to play it when the kids are asleep. Eventually it will come to PC. Yes, I'm so lazy that going up the media room and waiting for the projector to warmup to play is a negative.

Thanks guys. I read through the test drive and the adventure kronovan linked. It might be a bit dark for the kiddo, but it's simple enough to change a few things and make it the same adventure but with fewer murders and nooses... not that castle ravenloft is all rainbows and unicorns.

The system does seem pretty straightforward, though it will take some getting used to the switch from hit points.

I think it would help to see it played a bit, I wonder if youtube would be able to help me there. Everything is on youtube.

In the end my decker was a badass with an assault rifle and an ok decker.

Unfortunately I can't refer back to the old thread where I think it might have been mentioned, but where do you start with Savage Worlds? With Pathfinder there is the start box, with Savage worlds there is an incredibly long list of books and PDFs. Note: I am not interested in PDFs really. I looked at one of the books at my FLGS and they are pretty massive and it's not clear what I need.

smoking, drinking, vandalism, shoplifting, trespassing, whatever they call it when you flee from the police to avoid a speeding ticket

OK, the absolutely dumbest thing I did involved a 10 speed bicycle, wet roads, bad brakes and a highway. Basically all I did was run a stop sign  at a blind intersection on my bike... across a busy highway. You know those car chase scenes in the movies where they fly through intersections to much honking and screeching and fist shaking? Yeah, it was like that only it wasn't a city with slow traffic, it was a 55mph highway and I was on a bike. One car panic braked it's way into a 360 slide into one of the huge ditches by the highway. The driver was ok, but the car was totaled. I didn't find this out until later because I kept on keeping on back to my house... which was only about a block away. I found out when the police knocked on my door about 20 minutes later, while the adrenaline was still pumping. I guess the good thing was one of the local guys (that highway also saw it's share of state troopers). I delivered his newspaper on that very same bicycle every day. He told me it was bad to leave the scene of an accident and about what happened and scared the living crap out of me. He never told my dad. I guess he didn't have any way to prove it was me, but he knew it was. I wasn't exactly incognito in a town of 600 people where I delivered half their papers and was top of the class.

I don't think I ever told anyone about that. If anyone I am ever interviewing with ever sees this, I am making it up as an attention grab and this never happened.

Extra month's worth on the down payment, you mean?

No, I mean once the mortgage is set up, make a double payment (or you could split up across more than one month). The point is, at the beginning of your mortgage, almost all the money goes to interest, not principal, so paying the equivalent of one extra month takes a lot of time off the length of the mortgage (because the extra all goes toward the principal. Iirc, on a 30 year, that one extra double payment takes off around 7 years. Don't recall the exact numbers, been a while.

This was true when mortgage rates were higher (8%). Now it will only save you about 4 years if you are getting the best available rate (~4%). My mortgage is at 2.625% and there is so little interest that paying ahead has very little (anti)compounding benefit. On my mortgage an extra payment a year would pay off the loan 15 months early.

This is why it is ok for me to buy a XBOne! See, totally brought that back on topic.

Okay then, if you really want to get into that level of detail, no one that is sane/smart, has a reasonable budget, and isn't well off or rich will make a $500 purchase trivially.

Just arguing the absolute statement you made. It depends how you ask whether I am rich or not. I say not, but some disagree on the definition, but $500 isn't impacting my budget.

Quote from: Turtle on August 27, 2013, 02:31:41 PM

Not sure why you're bringing up the PS3 controller, but it was fine to me, a bit outdated, but nowhere near the levels of total useless and hatred that I'd see people spew.

Only some 360 controller fans are saying that they'd prefer the PS4 controller, however, almost everyone is saying that the PS4 controller is in every way in parity with the 360/XB1 controller, which allows for some to say that it actually feels better

I thought that was the common complaint about the PS3. I still complain about it because it still sucks in comparison.

No one makes a $500 purchase trivially.

I disagree wholeheartedly. I know one person who makes $500 purchases on a whim so often you could call it a hobby. Yesterday it was closer to $700 with the XBOne, Gold card and Forza Limited.

$30k I'll give some thought to beforehand. $500 isn't going to impact the bottom line.

I'm still happy to argue all day about why the PS3 controllers sucks and I am suspicious of claims that xbox 360 controller fans prefer the PS4 controller, but in the end I will end up buying both assuming the PS4 comes up with something I have to own. I bought the PS3 for the Uncharted games and I loved the first 2, but I am over it. They need something new to grab me. I am sure it will come.

Making a purchasing decision for an expensive console like this based on one or two launch titles would be incredibly short-sighted. That is, unless you feel that those few games justify spending $400 or $500 on alone.

Putting this much thought and discussion into a trivial purchase decision like this one is incredibly disappointing.

My lost points issue solved itself. When I started the game after that post, #4 and #3 challenges were available and then I quickly unlocked and took out the other 2. I'm the Most Wanted.

Re: The police chases, they were kind of tough the first couple times, but I have no trouble with them now, even going back to slower, non-upgraded cars. It can help to take out some of the pursuit vehicles.  You also don't want it to escalate too high until you have re-inflating tires. Maybe drive a faster car if the normal cruisers are keeping up with you. I'd suggest the Gallardo, Corvette or Viper.
105  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/360/PS3] Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012) on: November 04, 2012, 09:56:12 PM
Playing it on the PC, it can never stay connected to autolog and it has lost 200k+ points for me. I'm driving around the Porsche 918 (MW#5 car, I think) and it tells me I need 20k points to unlock MW #7... I'm afraid if I keep losing points I won't be able to get to the top at all, because I can't get the 12k for 1st in races a second time. Going to run out of races. :o

Ignoring that bug, this may be my favorite NFS since Most wanted.

I had the same problem... then I realized I was dumb. That message means your quest log is full. Drop some of those quests you've overleveled, space quests, heroics etc.

I've played as many as 30 correspondence games simultaneously without issue. First you can use the notes panel if you need to remember a strategy or to watch for something. Second, history doesn't really matter, only the current position matters. I think it better switching games because it forces you to reevaluate the entire board rather than get complacent about potential threats that have been idle for a few moves.

The F2P thing isn't prominently displayed on the website yet to keep the influx of new accounts reasonable for now, but it is available for everyone (from the main site's Game Info page) and should be advertised much more towards the end of the month I guess.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm installing. I played in the beta and it wasn't for me, but I'm curious if my lego fanatic 5 year old could play it. It's nice that he can try it out for free. smile

As I understand it, the Fit comes with option packages, not a la carte options. You can buy a base or a Sport, and there is no menu of factory-installed options to add to either one. Of course, we bought one off the lot so our dealer might have just been uninterested in talking about options...but my internet shopping bears this out.

All Hondas are this way, there are a few trim levels and then all you have are dealer adds.
