You'll enjoy it a bunch more if you are in on the usual marvel insider stuff though.

I dunno. I am not sure I could have enjoyed it much more. In fact, based on your comments I think your insider knowledge of the characters detracted from your enjoyment.

As someone who never heard of these characters, it wasn't a superhero movie at all. It was a sci-fi movie that just happened to have a couple comic book cameos.

I am curious to what your credit score is then, if you want to say of course. I am kind of similar, I have 3 credit cards that pay for everything. Every bill and expense I have is paid through those credit cards (for points, figure it's time to make money back from the banks). I pay them off in full every month and repeat the process. Until fairly recently I paid for a credit watch service through my bank, I think it was with TransUnion. My score has stayed at, or slightly above, 780 for three years, even when I had a car payment with 3 years left on it. I can make a large purchase, move, lose my job, pay off my car, etc, and it stays around 780. The credit watch service's only comments on how to improve my credit was to buy a house.

If it matters to you, couldn't you just pay the card at different date? Or get some credit cards with good a good cash back system to lower your utilization and get you some money back from them. I just applied for that Capital One card that is 1.5% on all purchases which seems to be the best out of there for cash back without categories (of course it looks like they are going to deny me because lack of income).

I think it was 726 (TU). As far as paying the credit card bill earlier, I'd rather squeeze the pitiful bit of extra interest out of having my money until the due date. I already have the Quicksilver Rewards card so I am good on rewards. I used to be one of those 800 guys but I got rid of some old cards and apparently that was a triple whammy: lowering my total credit, increasing my utilization and lowering the age my oldest open line.

The terrible thing is that I am considering reopening a credit line so I can move past you on the scoreboard.  saywhat

Oh, the original purpose of this post is to argue the point about it being crap. It indicates that I am a higher credit risk than you are. I find that difficult to believe (for those playing at home, I am not being a jerk - well more of a jerk than normal - this is based on Isg's post history). If I lost my job today, I'd be good for years without income or unemployment. It seems like net worth ought to be a factor in some way.

That credit score ought to serve you well when it comes time to mortgage yourself through retirement.  icon_twisted

I agree with this 100%. When I was playing Forza... 5? all I was thinking was how much I preferred Horizon. I'm very excited about Horizon 2 but I will be doing my best to wait until Christmas.

I checked my FICO score through my Discover Card (one of the best perks ever), and have moved into the "very dependable" bracket with my score of 747.

...and this is why credit ratings are crap. smile

The major negative on my credit rating (Capital One uses TransUnion and breaks it down into letter grades in categories) is credit utilization.  I only have one open credit card and utilization is fairly high on that card, but I pay it off in full every month. Because of the way the due date lags, the balance overlaps and it looks like I carry a high balance, but I don't and haven't paid credit card interest in 13 years. I have >50% equity in my house and my car is worth more than the loan. My credit rating is dragged down because I don't have lots of credit cards I don't use.

They also have a simulator that tells what would happen to your credit if you make specific changes. According their simulator I could get a 30 point bump in credit rating by getting another credit card with a $20k limit.

Then again it's not very relevant to me as I don't actually need credit for anything. The only impact I can imagine is insurance costs.

I haven't played Galaxy Defenders, but that looks like a lot of fun, as well as the upcoming Alien Uprising, though I'm not sure of the length of these too.

Galaxy Defenders is a good tactical combat game. It's a lot like playing an XCOM board game and it has RPG elements. There is a (very mildly branching) campaign that your characters level up through. It's a not a fast playing game. Game length depends on the scenario, but 90-180 minutes covers most of them.

Quote from: kronovan on July 08, 2014, 10:26:32 PM

And of course there's the 3 Dungeons & Dragons adventure games (Castle Ravenloft, Wrath of Ashardalon and Legend of Drizzt) that nail the feel of playing the RPG quite well.

Galaxy Defenders replaces the D&D games for me. The main issue with the D&D games is that you can level up once and the change is trivial. Also, the move or die mechanic that keeps the game going can get tiresome. I did have fun with it with my older son (Cool.

If you read it today it will be right about when the story takes place in relation to Real World Events. Just don't mind the actual day of the week.

It's about an hour's read. That would be funny if it coincided with real world - and maybe a zombie apoc is just what the capitol needs.

I was disappointed to find the real crisis did not end as your version did. Also the bonus story...  saywhat I can't decide if I like the way your mind works or I hope I never meet you in a dark alley.

On day one I'll have an XBOne with:
Forza 5
Dead Rising 3
Assassin's Creed IV
Need for Speed
Skylanders: Swap Force

Whichever of those games don't come out on day one, I won't have on day one. I only bought the PS3 for the blu-ray player and for the Uncharted games and that lost my interest on the 3rd iteration. I don't know what will bring me to buy the ps4, but I assume something will eventually.

He has to wait a month after it releases for current gen consoles to get it, though. I'm waiting for the PS4 version myself, but it will stink seeing the toys out there and not be able to do anything with them.

A bit late getting back to this, but this will be a christmas thing either way so no hardship there. The big question will be what happens between the new system arriving and Christmas when I am dying to connect it and play Forza 5.

I considered it, but they increase the storage space a bit too much for me. My ships move around a bit in their plano boxes, but I am ok with that. On the flip side I have to use 3 plano boxes to hold pretty much the same amount of stuff (I have 1 of each SKU and a second base set)... though mine come in a handy dandy carrying case.

In Denmark we have Religion as part of normal school. Its taught for 4 years and covers all major religions, their belief systems, and their history. Since religion is a major part of eveyday life, even for people without faith in any of them, its important to understand in order to understand basic human motivations and society at large as well.

In high school in the late 80s in rural New York (yes, there is such a thing), I took an elective class called Mythology. I would love to see what would happen if such a class were taught in Texas today (I have lived in Texas for 15 years, both my kids were born in Texas and will graduate from Texas schools someday). It covered the sorts of mythologies you would expect like Greek, Roman and Norse, but it also covered a few other mythologies, like Christianity and Judaism. You can probably imagine my bible thumping aunt's reaction when I told her about my teenage revelation on the similarities between Christianity and Greek Mythology. I wonder if they still teach that class and if they still include active religions.

I went to church on and off until I was 12 or 13, sometimes with my mom, sometimes with grandma, sometimes all by myself. Eventually I stopped going but couldn't explain why. That class talked about why religion is so important and the innate need to believe in something greater and I finally had an explanation of the behavior of others I could understand and didn't need to explore religion any more.

That is the kind of religious education I would like to see... that will probably never happen here.

I am about 60% through. The first few chapters were interesting, but you totally captured me with Peaches. Awesome. Seriously.

My only complaint is I have seen about half a dozen funny word replacements, where it's obvious you wanted one word but another appears. I'm trying to remember an example now but they are all escaping me. One is perspective vs prospective. It happens on forums, IMs, SMS, etc but I really don't want to see it in a book.

I find the world interesting enough and I'm really interested to see how it turns out. I am generally more of a traditional fantasy fan, but I really like the fantasy in a modern setting. I haven't really read much like this before.

Level 19 in a crafting profession?  Yeah, not sure that's gonna happen.

If you are going to do it, I would go with weaver. Tons of recipes for the first time recipe bonus and weaver makes crafting gear so it helps itself.  I have 18 woodworker and ~13 leatherworker, just starting weaver (10 or 11 now) because it was at the last city I hit. lots and lots of moko grass... I mean stupid amounts, but it is going pretty quickly. Goldsmith is also pretty nice for the gear you don't seem to get through quests early.
