I like that idea, and the drone shrinks the cloud something that makes it somewhat realistic.

I appreciate the "enemy in this area" cloud. It's less specific than the "he's right here!" marker in SE4, but still tells me I need to be careful. It would be less of a crutch if the cloud were bigger, but I'll take it and would sorely miss it if it were gone. I want to know if I am done or not.

Sepiche is a regular on OO. I don't know if he posts over here as well.

I had a lot of fun with it. My single player AI fears appear to be largely unfounded.

I did manage to get my character stuck last night. I parachuted into the side of a building, went through a wall and was trapped behind cardboard boxes that I was unable to move. Oh the game also managed to crash my PC. I didn't even know WIN10 still had BSODs. They look different, but it's clearly what it was.

The first area was way too easy and the second area may be a touch too hard, but I guess it is good to see the whole spectrum.

I almost loaded up Dead Rising 2 which I never finished... I may do that yet. I got stuck on a boss fight and just couldn't get past it. When I played DR3, I got stuck on the final boss. I started over keeping my levels and annihilated him after playing through again. I guess I need to do that for 2 as well. Apparently that's not a thing in 4. It's probably for the best.

I finally restarted and finished DR2 yesterday, just six years after release. DR4 arrives tomorrow. I really hope it doesn't also arrive Sunday.  icon_redface

Minor update a couple months later. I think I put about 4 hours into DR4. It just didn't click with me. I think it is like the Saints Row games. I loved the early ones, but later on the escalation to ridiculousness really put me off. This isn't as ridiculous as SR4, but it feels like the same trend.

Escape from some-german-place Colditz
maybe add Evolution Climate

Hmmmm, there should be a forum for board games.

Would it shock you if I said XCOM 2? Yeah, I didn't think so (264 hours played before the weekend, 21 hours away from being my most played steam game ever).

i *think* I am nearing the end of my Long War 2 game. I have plasma weapons, 20 or so master sergeants and a shadow chamber, what more could you need?

If I finish it up I will go back to Sniper Elite 4, which has been a lot of fun in my two plays of the first mission.

It is almost a totally different game and I'm having  a lot of fun with it.

I have Steep and FFXV sitting around, but neither one has the strength to pull me away from XCOM. I expect Sniper Elite 4 will do that the week after next... maybe, just maybe I will have finished my current campaign by then.

I'd consider bugging one of you guys about the Wildlands beta, but I haven't really been a regular around here in a long time and I've already bought the game and I am not 100% sure even that would pull me away.

Thanks all for your responses. I had already cancelled my pre-order. I will pick it up eventually as long as the post-release feedback is good, but with Sniper Elite 4 and Mass Effect must buys coming while I'm still deep into XCOM2:LW2, I didn't need another game.

I need to watch some people playing it and see how much work it takes to manage the AI squad mates effectively. I jumped on this based on my love for the original GR games and recent Ubi open world gameplay.

I finally got into one that I had the lowest ping on, an official "PvP Blitz" server on the west coast.

PvP is obvious, Blitz means progression is faster but the server is wiped regularly, I think it was targeted for 30 days or something like that.

Server wipes in Conan Exiles
Quote
On Friday we announced our server partner on Conan Exiles and dug a bit deeper into some of the server settings players will have access to at Early Access launch. We also announced that the game's official servers would be wiped clean and reset after 30 days of playtime. This generated a lot of feedback from the community, both positive and negative. We've been reading through all your discussions, comments and messages and discussing what you've had to say since the announcement went out on Friday.

We understand your concerns and we've been listening.

As a result of your feedback we’ve decided to include three types of official servers to accommodate both preferences: PvP servers, PvE servers and PvP Blitz servers. These settings will only apply to official servers. Admins are free to choose whatever settings they want on unofficial servers.

The regular official PvP and PvE servers will not be wiped. The PvP Blitz servers will provide an accelerated experience, but will reset after 30 days. This ensures that players on PvP Blitz servers will be able to experience everything Conan Exiles has to offer before their progression is reset.

PvP Blitz servers will be tagged in the server description so you can easily differentiate them from the regular PvP and PvE servers.

Again, on your own private server you can choose to set them up with accelerated or unmodified progression in addition to any other ruleset adjustments you want to make! We’re looking forward to seeing the different playstyles and settings our community uses after Early Access launch.

I gave it about an hour yesterday and I wasn't particularly impressed. I think it may be too open for me. I want more direction in my gameplay. Zooming out to mountain view and trying to find something to do is annoying.  I want a "go do something interesting" button. The funny thing is Forza Horizon 3 is very similar in discovering things to do and being pretty open. I don't know why I love it there and don't enjoy it here.

I ended up with:
Pokemon Moon
Bravely Second
Fire Emblem Awakening
Fire Emblem Birthright (or the other one I forget)
Monster Hunter Generations

I finished the story and about half the Pokedex in Pokemon Moon in 5 days. I was good to keep going but my son stopped playing Sun and switched to Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

I made it through the tutorial missions on Monster Hunter Generations... I was tired of all that so I never got to the meat. I'll get back to it... eventually.
I played the first three chapters of Fire Emblem Awakening. It did not grab me. I remember the Fire Emblem games being more interesting than this.

Bravely Second is my only hope!

Dead Rising 4. I'm only about 3 hours into it, but I will be playing a lot more. If that starts to bore me I bought FFXV as well. Sunday I hope to be getting a new 3DS and Pokemon Moon, which I will be playing with my 10yo son so I'll have a walking reference guide to help me. I also re-upped my gamestop pro membership and when I get the B2G1 coupon I will be grabbing some of the recommendations from my Mobile thread (Monster Hunter, FE: Awakening and Bravely One or the Other).

I would recommend Ace Attorney Trilogy despite writing that you don't want to play visual novels. These games are different enough from the formula, and so damn good in the first place, that you really should play them anyway. They're the primary reason why I have a 3DS to begin with.

I assume that is Phoenix Wright? I think that was half of how I learned I don't really enjoy Visual Novels, the other half was Hotel Dusk.  Wright was better than Dusk, but just not my thing. What I played was a DS game if there are newer games that do more mechanically speaking I might be interested, otherwise I would rather read a book.

With those caveats…why did you ask for a 3DS exactly?  icon_razz

It *is* a great question. The main reason is that over the few weeks where I was obsessed with Pokemon Go, my 10yo son and I had fun together talking about Pokemon so we decided we are going to ask for Sun/Moon to play together. He got a 2DS for Christmas last year that he has gotten good mileage out of. I needed something to play on as well.

Additionally it's the one platform where I play JRPGs for some reason and I've had a love/hate relationship with Fire Emblem. I'm not even sure I can name any of the DS games I have really liked, but I am pretty sure there were some.

Thanks all for the recommendations. I was looking at the Bravely games on amazon because they were recommended with Fire Emblem and I've heard good things, though SkinyGratch's comments in the Second thread are a bit off-putting.

I am not sure I can do Rhythm games anymore. I think Elite Beat Agents is the only one I ever played and I wasn't bad when it came out, but I tried again recently and I apparently have no rhythm.

I'll look at all the games, I was going to list out the ones that piqued my interest, but it's too many. Hopefully gamestop/amazon have some used.
26  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / 3DS "Must Play" Games (No Mario!) on: December 19, 2016, 02:18:34 PM
I'm expecting to have a 3DS in my hands come Christmas morning with Pokemon Sun... or Moon... I forget which. Whichever one my son didn't want. Anyway, what are the other must play games?

Caveats:
I don't like any Mario games.
I don't like platformers.
I don't like modern Zelda games.
I don't like visual novels.

I already have Fire Emblem Fates stashed away. I also bought Ocarina of Time to give my son, but I may steal from him at some point.

Auto saves take place anytime you complete a mission or side activity, so that's a reliable way to get a save. It also frequently saves after shooting a photo, since the game needs to keep track of how many points the photo netted Frank, and you can get an auto save after dying.

The storytelling threw me off a little bit in the beginning because I forgot how they tell stories in Mafia. I'm honestly starting to think that Gellar's drivatar may be bugged. I've previously commented on how it tends to zip ahead of everyone else regardless of car, but in this latest championship (Ferrari vs Lamborghini) it has grown ridiculous to the point of frustration. I could drive perfectly and I still wouldn't be able to even see his car, let alone have a chance of passing it. The only way I can tell where it is is by looking at the GPS. I race to second place within the first half of the first lap, and yet Gellar's drivatar is nowhere to be seen, having pulled far, far ahead of the rest of the drivatars in half a lap. It's impossible to beat this no matter how well I drive, which is why I'm wondering if it's simply a bug. My car is upgraded to its limits, but I stand no chance.

It's kind of making this particular championship feel pointless. Why try to excel if there's no way for me to win anyway?

What drivatar difficulty are you playing? I haven't seen anything like that. I've had a runaway leader I just couldn't catch but the fault was squarely with me.

I do have one race setup that I totally annihilate the competition. It's basically a collection of misfit cars and I have a D500 Meyers Manx setup for stupid speed and no handling and it is ridiculous (I thik I went for an engine conversion but left factory tires on it). I'm in second place when I hit the starting line. I have to drift and smash into barriers to turn without coming to a complete stop. It's pretty funny.
