ie, it's a ripoff.

Depends on the price and what else is in the box.
'twas $40 for... the rest of the stuff and a 10-day trial.

He was asking $40 for that??

And he plans on getting twice that for it on ebay?  Man.. that's good work if you can get it...
2  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Which games will you pack away with your system? on: December 07, 2004, 11:21:37 PM

I heard a game developer say one time it was tough being the creator of things that were transient, like sand castles. Games unlike all other types of entertainment media just do not hold up well. You can go back for nostalgia as you suggest but that is like looking at old photographs or something. The game itself is lost.  The game can never be the same as it was the first time you played it, I re-read books all the time and while I might enjoy them still, it's not like the first time. Sex is like this too I think.  biggrin   But, I tried to play Final Fantasy VII because everybody said it was the greatest game ever and I can see how it would have been great at the time it was released but when the first game I ever played on a console was Final Fantasy X, it pales in comparison.  I had this same thing happen when I tried to go back and play Wasteland many many years ago. Frankly it just sucked. Depite being one of the greatest games ever when I played it the first time. I could offer a few but as a bit more time passes my list will change. First person shooters really don't hold up well. I figured I would never part with Vice City, then San Andreas came out and I can't imagine going back to Vice City when it is the same game far worse. Right now I would say Disgaea since I just replayed it again after about a year and got another 100 hours of fun out of it.  That is the kind of game you could go back and play. I keep a copy of FF-X so I can go back and look at the cutscenes and hear the music. Doubt I would ever actually play it again though.  I only keep a very few games. Most of the old ones are worth more to me then as a trade in anyway, since they might be worth 5 bucks max.

3  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Need advice on a GBA game to buy for my wife.. on: December 07, 2004, 10:58:11 PM
My wief and I both have GBAs and she has indicated she would like a new game for x-mas... more specifically, she has indicated she is interested in Kingdom Hearts...

After reading the info on it tho, I'm not sure she would like it (she mentioned it only because she knows of the Disney tie-in).

Between us, we have the following GBA games:
Advance Wars 1 and 2
FFA: Tactics
Simcity 2000
Golden Sun 1 and 2
Fire Emblem
Sims: Bustin Out

The only one she has put much time into is the Sims game which she likes..

I am worried about Kindom Hearts tho as she is generally pretty poor at games that require a lot of quick button mashing... from what I have read about that one tho, it seems like that may be the case..

Still.. I'd like to get her a game.. (must keep her interested in gaming and gadgets).. on the PC she plays MMOs from time to time, Sims, Roller Coaster Tycoon.. games like that... again.. not really "action" titles..

Anyone have any suggestions?  Was thinking about Mario Golf as it seems to get a lot of love and I think she can manage the button pushing of a golf swing.. dunno tho... help please smile

I get that its his site and he can legally do what he wants, but just going dark like he did was inexcusable...

We prob. should have seen it coming.. Shutting the site down like that is consistent with his refusal to let people do things to make the site better.

I know there are lots of people that think that "its his site he can do whatever he wants with it" and that's certainly true in the legal sense.  I also know there are lots of people that will always defend him no matter what the cost, but if you step back and look at this, it is a very selfish act.

*dons flame-retardent suit*

Go nuts..
