I totally socked in at work right now...but If someone wants to setup a meet this weekend sometime I'll try to get my Cleric off the island and into the city.

Andun Devion  lvl 1-2 Cleric.
3  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: D&D Online Free to Play! on: September 07, 2009, 10:22:50 PM
I'm working through island but had a busy holiday weekend.

Anyone have thoughts on a night we'd like to get 3 or 4 or more folks together..
4  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: D&D Online Free to Play! on: September 05, 2009, 02:37:04 PM
Yes, Khyber,

morlac and I played through a few of the initial tutorial quests last night.  Frankly most of them are so short no point in messing with them in a group.

I think we still had a good time, but morlac had to drop off around 10:30 ish.

If anyone wants to just burn through the starter island quests and we can all meet up as lvl 2 characters in main town.  Don't think that's gonna be an issue.

Hark has been kind enough to give me the connection information for GamingTrend VNC.

Anyone here who would like to connect up early on there and get organized, send me a PM and I'll forward you the information.

Also, Vidiot, get on when you can and jump right in.  I wouldn't imagine we'll get beyond the tutorial island tonight.

So far we have:

Razgon - Paladin  (Razgon)
Andun - Cleric   (Andon)
Anuvara - Monk   (Harkonis)
??? - Bard  (morloc)
??? - Sorcerer (Fez)
??? - Ranger (Vidiot)

Did I miss anyone?

I'm usually in Kato's vent pretty much all the time.  Been playing a lot of Champions and Gratuitous Space Battles and we use the vent for both.

Made my Monk on Khyber, name is Anuvara.

Hark can we get use Kato's vent then?  I used to know the connection for it, but haven't been on it since we played COH.
9  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: D&D Online Free to Play! on: September 04, 2009, 04:52:55 PM
Anyone up for an impromptu session tonight?  Say maybe 9pm or 10pm till whenever?

There is voice in DDO..but if folks want to do Vent?  I know the GWJ vent, but haven't gotten into Hark or USMC Kato's in a while.
10  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: D&D Online Free to Play! on: September 03, 2009, 11:31:37 PM
Well I'm on EST here.  I wouldn't mind a Thursday/Friday or Monday night.  I can usually play from 8pm EST on till I get tired.

You guys let me know what would work best for you.

My idea here is to have a character that we don't play xcept during the scheduled meetup times.  We just grab as many quests as we can in the area, group up, and go through them.  Take our time, see the sights, compare equipment, and just play.  That's really the best way to experience DDO...sadly not available in PUG's in game.
11  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: D&D Online Free to Play! on: September 03, 2009, 12:36:31 PM
I got a lvl 1 Cleric on Khyber who's done nothing but finish up the tutorial quest and log out in town.  Khyber has some folks from GWJ's on it as well so we might be able to recruit a few more folks.

12  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: D&D Online Free to Play! on: September 02, 2009, 07:44:48 PM
I was thinking a week night maybe from 8pm EST - 11pm?? (whenever we got tired).

What would work for folks?
13  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: D&D Online Free to Play! on: September 01, 2009, 10:08:49 PM
Well the headstart on DDO Unlimited got going today.

Anyone interested in a weekly, or 2x a month, meetup to go through the quests and such at a slower pace.

I'd love to get a good healing/battle cleric going in a party.  I found the gameplay in DDO good fun in a small group with the quests set to hard.

I just rolled up a Dwarf Runeeeper on Elendilmir.  Send me some names and I'll send some whispers next time I'm online!
Not 100% sure I like the class yet...1st time playing one.

Andoion Dwarf RuneKeeper.

Still playing on LLandroval.  I have a warder in the 20's now that I'm enjoying alot.  I just wish I could find an active group of people to fellowship with.  I hit a few PUG's but they only stay around long enough to finish one specific quest then everyone scatters again!   Even WoW had more active grouping...

Andon, 516 and MythicalMino were bouncing to me as "no such user found", and didn't seem to come up in the Username search. Are you guys sure of those names? Invites do work (at least you get a confirmation) even if the person is offline.

I dunno...I've been playing all day with Andon account login...

I've got in and sent/accepted several friend invites.   We should gather a temporary supergroup so we can all see each other in the meantime.

20  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Eve Online - GT+OO Corporation (Naming?) on: April 03, 2009, 03:42:41 AM
My Hurricane has the same problem with small frigate class ships.  Our Medium turrets are designed to hit slower moving targets.  You can rely on drones to take out the smaller ships, but the object is to get all the aggro on yourself first so the drones won't take any hits, as well as watching for anything that spawns in.  (I usually pull my drones back in to bay untill I gain aggro again.)

Beam Lasers are long range  >20km.  Pulse lasers are <10km knife fight lasers.

If you going for a full Solo rig.  You might want to invest in some missile skills.  A few small missile launchers will make short work of most frigates.  And they don't need to track.  Just lock and fire!

Another trick is to mount a couple small turrets that can track smaller objects.  If you 7 slots to work with maybe group 2 with small turrets just for taking out frigates.

The morale of the story is, doing lvl 2 missions in a BC is easy, but the damn small ships are annoying.
21  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [EVE] The Trendy Squid Trading Corporation - Mining op on: March 27, 2009, 03:47:35 PM
Considering current market trends in minerals.  Kernite is your money maker in high sec space.  (Next to Trit of course!)  after that, the next ore REALLY worth going for is Gneiss which is only 0.2 and below.   My recommendation is to find a nice quiet system 0.6 or 0.5 with kernite available and setup a mining operation.   As for production, I can't really comment there.  I know Cruiser/Destroyers are going to sell pretty well in region right now with FW and Missioning going on.  I'll throw my mining lasers to any system you want to go to.  But I'm not quite ready to fly my Hulk into lowsec space since I can't afford to replace it yet.
22  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Eve Online - GT+OO Corporation (Naming?) on: March 25, 2009, 04:15:10 PM
I have a few suggestions on some places to setup mining operations.  I'll say right now the current system isn't going to cut it for us.  We probably need to find some systems with Kernite to cover some good Isogen returns as well as Tritanium.  In the right regions some minerals would be easier to buy and cover costs with selling Trit instead.  I know I can pull down 10-12 Mil worth of Trit in a few hours if I'm given a good belt.
23  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Eve Online - GT+OO Corporation (Naming?) on: March 23, 2009, 12:33:16 AM
I'd be willing to take a little more active role in the mining / industry department.  However, I'll probabbly always just be a casual login.
24  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [EVE] The Trendy Squid Trading Corporation - Mining op on: March 19, 2009, 01:43:36 AM
Okay, you win folks.  I'm in with Andon, my mining character.  Please let me know what I can do to help.   I can mine a ton of minerals fast so please let me know what you need.

Also, if anyone wants to do some "for profit" mining, I'd be happy to lend my skills.  We can gang up, hit a belt, and bring in a few million tons of minerals in a short time and sell them on the market.   I can typically make a 4-7 million doing this for an hour or 2.  Just need a hauler buddy and the time.

See ya soon.

Another one down!

I thought I'd just tag along with this thread to say I was laid off today after 10 years with my job.  The place was losing money, looking to sell out and I was a nice tempting target to shore up expenses.  I got severance so I have a little time to look without heartburn, but I'm hitting the ground running.

Good advice above.

Dark Star One.  It's Freelancer light.  The Economy is a little more dynamic, and the ability to upgrade your ship as you'd like it is a fun feature.

By the games end I have a 4 turret cruiser that would mow down ships while I used special weapons to finish them off.

I'm playing on Virtue  I have a 26 MM and have been playing with Harkonis for a few days.  I'm having a lot more fun than before.  I think out of all the MMO's out now, this one just hits all the right action points with me.  It doesn't hide that fact that all these games are just about the combat at the core.  And they do it fun here.  People flying around, bodies getting thrown back, frozen in time, robots shooting all around.  In a good group with some fun missions I have a blast at night.

My chat handled is @Andon Devion   Feel free to look me up, I'm playing a hero or villian on occasion.

There's a couple of us on Virtue, mostly CoV but we have a base for both CoH and CoV.  I just upgraded the base to include all the storage options on the CoV side.  Dual Blades is very fun and looks smooth going between one power to the next in a combo.

I've been wanting to play this again, however, it's really on fun in group settings.  If I re-sub again, how many folks are online in a given night?  I have a 20ish Controller and a Mastermind, I haven't played in a while.
34  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Tabula Rasa beta on: February 15, 2008, 02:53:37 PM
I think my accounted ended last night.  I did enjoy the combat mechanics, but I think grouping was what did it in for me.  The ability to find a squad to join was nearly impossible.  So I spent most of my time soloing quests and instances.
No fun playing an MMO solo 100% of the time!

Been playing this off and on for the past 2 days.  Very fun system.  Just like the demo.  If you enjoyed the demo, you will enjoy the game with more options and no time limit.

The economics take a bit to get used to and if I had one tip to give out, it's that by default your villagers will auto-upgrade housing.  You want to turn this off right away.  One very important part of the game is controlling when and how your people move from one type to another.
