1  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: How scratch-resistant is the DS Lite screen? on: March 29, 2008, 05:35:02 PM
I have ordered Hori for ds and psp from decalgirl.com and play-asia with no problems.   Last time I had to order online as my Target sold out of protectors and took forever to get them back.  If you see them at Target buy them right away.  I concur that ordering 2 at a time is best as you may need a spare due to botched application.
2  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: How scratch-resistant is the DS Lite screen? on: March 29, 2008, 08:03:41 AM
Target does in fact carry Hori protectors.  I swear by them.  Have had them on both my red Mario Kart and Zelda DS (old and new shcool).  I won't even look at my screen until I install one.  A trick I have learned is to install them in the bathroom with shower running so dust is minimal.  Screen dust is the biggest problem so wipe screen well and begin application right away.   Good luck.
3  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Marvel Heroscape $12.48 @ Target on: January 03, 2008, 04:26:50 AM
My local Target had the Marvel Heroscape on clearance at $12.48.   50% off.  They also had a bunch of the New Crossbows and Catapaults expansions at 50% off as well.  YMMV. This was at the Seattle Northgate Target.
4  Gaming / Analog Gaming / Pokemon Next Quest TFG release? on: September 19, 2007, 05:37:54 PM
Anyone hear anything about this new Pokemon Trading Figure Game:  "Next Quest"?  I saw a preview a couple months ago with September release.  Google isn't much help.  Only import and ebay available right now... anyone know a US release date?   Here is official link:  http://www.go-pokemon.com/.  Sept 19th was release date posted release date.  Anybody hear more?  I made the mistake of telling my 7 yo about it and he can't wait.
5  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New PSP Opinions? on: September 14, 2007, 06:04:33 PM
I am loving mine.  It's  like "the final release version"  to the original's "not quite done" feel.  Not as sharp of a contrast / upgrade as DS Phat  to DS Lite but definitely an improvement.  More refined.

The Silver is not so bad.  Kinda wish we could buy to the European "Simpsons Yellow" Bundle.

Simply put, I am happy with mine.  Loving Jeanne D'Arc and Daxter is cool too.

I wonder if you can use the video out features of new psp with the PS3 instead of buying component cables?   Any news on other psp to ps3 interface features?  I sure wish we could get the announced yellow European Simpsons bundle in US.  I am torn between Silver Daxter Pack and Star Wars pack.

Speaking of old toys.  Anyone else see the new version of Crossbows and Catapults?  I think its called Warchest:  Crossbows & Catapults.  I was a Target and they had it for $34.99.  I never played as a kid but have heard good things.

Colosseum had an stand alone adventure mode, this version does not.  Sure you can use this game w/o a DS but with very limited play.  That is why I feel like it is not a "full game", but merely a tool.   I guess the trade off is this version has an easier hand held interface.  Your ds links right out of the box whereas with Colesseum you had to buy special GBA link cables.   It is a great tool for using your DS with your Wii and and there is a certain "neat" factor where you can see your captured DS pokemon fight on the big screen.  My main beef is that Nintendo is selling me a $50 game and I am getting a $30 utility program.  If it had story/adventure mode where you could capture and train on Wii my opinion would be higher but w/o out this mode it feels like a stripped down Colosseum.  If you buy this w/o a DS and Pearl / Diamond I don't see the stand alone value that existed with Colosseum.
11  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Pokemon: Battle Revolution on: June 27, 2007, 05:21:10 PM
Picked it up for my son.  Only put about an hour into it but so far it doesn't really feel like a full game.  Not worth $50 imho.  Luckily I got it at BB for $40 (CC price match).   Just a fancy way to use your DS pokemon from Pearl and Diamond with potentially easier on line play interface.  No story mode at all.  You can play colosseum mode w/o DS and "rent"  Pokemon to battle, but that seems to be the extent of non-DS play.  Has updated attack animations, etc, but overall the  graphics kinda suck at 480p on LCD.  I get ghosting and blurry images.   I expected more for a "full priced" game.  It seems like a gimped version of coloseum to me, except for the easier handheld interface..  I really think $30 max for this title is right price.  Feels like you are paying for Pokemon name.   Again, this is only after a couple battles so it might get better.  Bottom line for me, nice pokemon Wii accessory/tool @ $30 to enhance DS play and add online to Wii, but definitely not a $50 game.  I wouldn't pay full price for this.  I also think it is interesting that this has "Revolution" in title, a reference to original Wii name?

Looking to buy 2 copies of this today.  One for son and one for me.  Confused by versions?  Thinking about buying 2 diamonds.  What is the difference?  Will both versions work together on wifi?  Should I buy 2 diamonds or a diamond & pearl?  Main reason for 2 copies is the wifi battles with my son.

Thanks for the replies.  Yeah, my son liked seeing how big he could make the hospital bills (kinda scary cuz he's getting a real skate board for xmas too).  The only thing I have read / heard about is "drug reference".  Is that in the game?   I just want to make sure this game has no "surprises", I got him Dwon Hill Jam for Wii and was slightly dismayed at the "knock people down for points" portion of the game.  Thanks again all, and merry xmas.

17  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Opinion / Question for Mariokart DS bundle owners. on: December 21, 2005, 12:57:31 AM
So I just got a Mariokart DS bundle for early xmas.

I like to keep my handhelds as nice as possible.

Does anyone with the bundle think that the Mario charm / pendant thing on the mariokart wrist strap will ultimately scratch the DS?

I'd like to use it but I am worried about long term scratching?  Anybody else using it?

Anyone use any of the stickers?

BTW:  I love the red!!!

Thanks

19  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Wookie007 question on: September 24, 2005, 04:30:23 PM
I had a bad trade experience with Wookie 007 as well.

Sent my games and never got anything back.

I tried to contact him during the last Wookie 007 conversation.  But had no luck.  He never responded to my emails.

For what its worth.

One more big thumbs up for this game as well!!!

My only wish so far is that it supported online play.

This is only the second sports game I have played (MLB for PSP is first).

This game rocks!!!!  Fave PSP game so far.

I just PM'd you with his info.
24  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Oh Canada! on: April 29, 2005, 02:44:18 PM
I initiated a trade with him in mid November.  Sent him my NWN + expansions in exchange for Doom 3. I never got the game from him.  He sent me a PM about 2 weeks after our initial contact saying he had been delayed in sending them due to opening a new restaurant, but they were in the mail.

About 2 weeks later several PM's from me went unanswered.  I gave up.

Unfortunately I didn't track my package.  Seeing as how I haven't gotten them back, I assume they made it to him. I basically wrote this off as a loss.

I am loving my PSP too.

I really wish it had a micro drive even a 5 gig one w/b be perfect.  That plus better music software would have made it the ultimate ipod killer.

re: analog stick...I am just glad to have one.  I am such a noob. At first at thought it was the speaker because of the texture on it.  Couldn't figure out how to move in Untold legends at first.

Is there an issue with non-shielded speakers andLCD monitors.

The speakers would be about 8-12 inches behind the monitor.

I was planning to take to day off to play...didn't work out

I was gonna leave early and grab my copy at Best Buy...didn'twork out

I get caught up in the family thing, dinner, pre-thanksgiving grocery run, etc.

That's OK Best buy is open until 10 pm so no worries.

9:30 pm:

I grab a copy at Best Buy right before it closes, after a few more last minute errand stops I am home by 10:15.  plenty of time to get some WOW in.  I already have the beta client loaded so I will avoid the loading times.

I open my package...insert the disc...and...NO @#$! KEY!!!!.

So no WOW for me tonight.

Atleast I don't have any lag.

Best Buy opens at 10:00 am so no worries...

This happen to anyone else?
29  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Anyone here having an issue with PayPal this week? on: November 19, 2004, 08:02:48 AM
I have 2 ebay auctions pending for which I haven't recieved funds.  I finally found a "paypal payment pending" message buried in one of the "my ebay" screens.  One payment has been pending since 11/12!!!

My PayPal balance and transaction log doesn't show any activity for these payments.

Anyone else ever had to deal with this?

I am gonna have 2 pissed customers and a blemish on my perfect seller record.
30  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Never tempt fate. on: November 17, 2004, 03:36:18 PM
I have a launch box, 3 years and counting.

Last night I was finishing up a Halo 2 session.

I eject the disc.

As I push eject I think to my self:  "Wow, I have been lucky not to have had a single problem with my xbox".

Just as I think this and the tray opens, the xbox starts making a loud clicking noise, like something inside is out of alignment.

I re-insert the disc to check things out.

I get the red blinking circle and a:  "your xbox requires service" message.

So I go to bed thinking I need to buy a new xbox.

I woke up this morning and everything works fine (after an initia/ click or 2).

Knock on wood.

33  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / adding an extra ide drive to a sata system. on: November 07, 2004, 08:45:25 PM
well.

It appears that a only have one IDE connector which is being used by my dvd burner.

Am I limited to the external hard drive option?

Is there an adapter from IDE to SATA (I have 3 avail SATA)?

I am thinking that the USB 2.0 external case is the answer.  Is this my only option?

Thanks.
34  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / adding an extra ide drive to a sata system. on: November 07, 2004, 07:17:56 PM
You all have been most helpful on with all of my recent upgrade questions.

Here is one more:

I need to pull files off of my old 80gb HD (IDE) and also want to use it for extra storage on my new system.

I may "punt" and drop it in a USB enclosure.

But some of you have suggested dropping in the system itself.

How hard is it gonna be to use both SATA and IDE?

My new system has an SATA Drive (New Dell 8400).

What is involved in this install?

Reformat?, Boot Sequences? etc?

Thanks.

I have an extra 80 gb hard drive.

Should I install it in my new system and run 2 drives?

Drop it in an usb 2.0 external enclosure and use it that way?

I plan to keep my music, photos, video, etc on it.

WHich makes more sense?

Thanks.
37  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Partition size for xp pro and reformat questions on: October 31, 2004, 05:32:23 PM
I am going to reformat my new dell.

it has an 80 gig HD.

I am a newbie with regards to partitions.

Is it worth it / easy to create separate partitions for XP and other files?

What size partition for XP Pro?

What are the benefits to partitioning?

If I format with partitions? Do I put other files in the OS partition (MS word, etc?

Do I need to zero out my hd first or just insert XP disc in and go from there?  It came preformatted with all the new system bloatware and I want it fresh & clean.

One more thing:  I haven't even booted the system yet.  Should I boot it as shipped from Dell to check it out or just wipe and reformat?

Thanks in advance.
38  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / DVI - Just how important is this??? on: October 30, 2004, 06:23:22 PM
Funny,

I jumped on the same Dell deal.

There must be a ton of us who did.

I just switched from a 19 inch crt and the look of this 19" LCD is really an adjustment.

The colors don't seem as bright and deep.

Not having DVI in is bugging me, especially with the div out taunting me from the back of my video card.

I was just wondering if the DVI was more hype than substance so I can feel better about this new monitor and ignore the taunts of the little white plug on my vid card.

I am wondering how this card will support an LCD TV with dvi-in.

Anyone ever done that?  Dell was selling 17 in lcd as an option with the system, but I went for the free 19 inch lcd.

Am I really missing all that much w/o DVI?

Is the picture quality better?

Thanks.
40  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Advice sought on setting up new computer on: October 29, 2004, 06:48:27 AM
Thanks for the answers guys.

It is actually not a USB yet, I am gonna drop it in an enclosure.

How hard is it to slave it?

Is this plug and play or do I have to mess with jumpers and such?

Thanks for the warranty tip, I will check with dell first.   I really hate all the useless stuff that these companies load.
