1  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / I WON A XBOX 360!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: August 30, 2005, 08:06:45 PM
Congrats! I needs to get some codes, I just checked and some of the drawings happening this hour only have 300-400 entries so far.
2  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / New Oblivion Interview - Lots of new info! on: August 29, 2005, 08:01:04 PM
Oblivion's graphics do look spectacular, but the game remains on my wait and see list. I didn't enjoy Morrowind much at all, the game world just felt huge and empty, lonely, like a MMORPG without any other players, also I didn't care for the combat system. And the performance was awful, even though I had a fairly high end machine at the time. I could go on and on with listing complaints, but what it boils down to is Bethesda has something to prove with this new game. I for one will be waiting until there are plenty of reviews to read.
3  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Dungeon Siege II: Anyone care? on: August 29, 2005, 07:37:08 PM
Quote from: "gameoverman"
I'd be interested to know that too.  Right now I've got two melee, one packmule and I'm holding a spot open for a combat mage.  That leaves no room for a nature mage since my packmule(Barney) will stay with me till the end.  I won't get another open slot till I reach Veteran.

I haven't seen any combat mages either so far, but why don't you recruit a fourth party member on a temporary basis? You can always dump them when you find someone you want more.
4  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / This Just In: Jade Empire Sucks on: August 29, 2005, 07:29:07 PM
Jade Empire was a great disappointment to me as well. I still consider Bioware one of my favorite all time developers, but in the future I will be more cautious about buying their new games.
5  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Anyone Have Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones Impressions? on: August 29, 2005, 07:17:13 PM
This is a great game, it drives me crazy when I lose a unit though! It's still as punishing as the original in that regard.
6  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The mediocre hulk - how is it? on: August 27, 2005, 07:23:41 AM
How could you be scared off by GTA comparisons? GTA III was by any measure brilliant for it's time, and San Andreas is certainly an instant classic, anyone who says otherwise hasn't played it.
7  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Xbox 360 Preorders available online (EbGames)! on: August 26, 2005, 03:42:48 AM
What makes them think someone who is so poor that they're considering the Core system would plunk down $700 to get it? I guess they included that bundle as a joke.
8  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Xbox 360 Preorders available online (EbGames)! on: August 24, 2005, 06:28:25 PM
And here they are, the gamestop bundles! They even have one for only $1200, thanks gamestop!
9  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Xbox 360 Preorders available online (EbGames)! on: August 24, 2005, 05:46:11 PM
Well, it looks like will probably force you to buy a bundle, even if their brick and mortar stores don't. I've been searching all over the net for a pre-order deal that doesn't require your to buy a bundle (who came up with this forced bundle bullshit anyway?), but EB is the only reputable dealer I've seen so far that has pre-orders of any kind.
10  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What games are you going to buy for the Xbox 360 at launch? on: August 24, 2005, 12:47:52 AM
None, I'll probably rent some titles at launch, and if there's anything truly spectacular I'll buy it. If the games really are 59.99 maybe I'll just subscribe to Gamefly so I don't have to buy any.
11  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Xbox 360 Preorders available online (EbGames)! on: August 24, 2005, 12:43:57 AM
I'd like to pre-order it online, but no way in hell am I shelling out for a bundle.
12  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Dungeon Siege 2: Widescreen Support? on: August 21, 2005, 07:48:49 AM
This game looks kind of fuzzy to me. I'm wondering if there's any way to sharpen it up, before I get a headache.
13  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / TV advice? on: July 24, 2005, 07:59:12 PM
Hmm, I wonder how this got moved here from Hardware/Software forum. Oh well, let's make the best of it.
14  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / TV advice? on: July 24, 2005, 02:00:41 AM
I'm looking for a TV in the $1000-1500 price range. I'm not sure yet if it's best to look for a good CRT or a low end DLP perhaps. Anyone know of good sites for info, advice, reviews, that kind of thing?
15  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Any tips for avoiding and enduring motion sickness in games? on: July 22, 2005, 05:01:35 AM
H-L 2 was bad for me too, it was the first game in a long time to make me feel pukey, especially the vehicle driving parts. The only thing that helped was playing for short periods of time, and eventually I adjusted and it didn't bother me any more.
16  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / New WoW "In Development" page! on: December 19, 2004, 08:23:11 AM
Yes, I think they're planning on adding it at some point. That's why in the cities there are what look like instance portals, but they don't lead anywhere.
17  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WOW Christmas Event? on: December 19, 2004, 08:17:10 AM
Yes, the patch is already out in Europe, and it has some kind of special content for the holidays. I'm not sure what.
18  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / New WoW "In Development" page! on: December 18, 2004, 04:44:46 AM
I was excited to see the info on this new page, but also very disappointed that Battlegrounds were not closer to completion. I really expected them to have battlegrounds in time for release.

On the Horizon

We plan on implementing these features over the next year.

    * Player vs. Player Battlegrounds -- Siege Weapons
    * Hero classes
    * High Level Raid Dungeons/Content
19  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW and thier idiot quest programmer on: December 17, 2004, 08:33:22 PM
Quote from: "Daehawk"

Thats one of my problems with the game..I get tired of one race's area and make a race from a new area to play that land..I dont want to have to do the same quests in the same area over and over and over.

If you want to level exclusively on quests (which I think is the most fun usually), you're going to need to do some travelling eventually. At your level you can find plenty of quests in Darkshore if you don't like Westfall, it's a little harder to get there but very doable.
20  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Wanderers invite you on: December 17, 2004, 08:56:43 AM
I'm planning to apply to the Wanderers as soon as I buy the game, which should be right around Christmas. I played the hell out of my alliance characters during beta, so I'm looking forward to trying the Horde.
21  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / The Official GT Trader Feedback List (updated 7/30) on: December 17, 2004, 05:34:48 AM
+1 for Jumangi, I wouldn't hesitate to trade with him again.
22  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / EQ2 - worth $30 to try out? on: December 16, 2004, 10:05:57 PM
EQ2 is actually a big step down from Warcraft, so I imagine you'd have a hard time getting into it. I don't think EQ2 is really deeper, it just feels more like work, for some people that's a plus I suppose.
23  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / How many of you play opposite gender characters in MMORGS? on: December 16, 2004, 06:56:18 PM
For whatever reason, female characters do get treated differently. I think people know that many of them are played by dudes, but it doesn't seem to matter. I think the way men react to female characters is dependent on how attractive the character models are.  I've known a few women that played male characters because they were tired of the "special attention" they would get.
24  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / EQ2. i hate it. on: December 13, 2004, 09:33:02 PM
EQ2 just failed to grab me for some reason, I cancelled my subscription before the first month was up.

There were a lot of little things that bothered me about this game, for one thing the constant loading screens tend to break the immersion, especially when you're low level and questing around the cities (which are made up of several zones). Although the graphics are good, the performance was disappointing even on my spiffy new 6800 GT. Even though there are plenty of quests, almost all of them have that generic feel to them, and they don't adequately explain what you're supposed to be doing, so unless you want to spend a lot of time wandering around aimlessly, you have to consult spoiler sites or the strategy guide all the time. I found Warcraft to be much more immersive, I like the classes better and find the world around me much more interesting.  On the plus side, they managed to have a very smooth launch, which was a big surprise given SOE's record.
25  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / How many copies has WoW sold so far? on: December 13, 2004, 09:13:58 PM
Last I heard it was the top selling PC game (, but I don't know how many units they've sold. They may not have produced enough copies to meet demand in the first run, I've heard in many areas there are no copies of the game to be had.
26  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / What are the RP servers like in WOW? on: December 13, 2004, 08:58:24 PM
No, I don't think it's possible to do character transfers. Maybe some day they'll have that option, but I doubt it will be any time soon. And yes, the RP servers use the normal server ruleset, not PVP.
27  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Anyone tried Knight On-Line? It's free at first... on: December 13, 2004, 08:50:06 PM
This is one of many low budget Korean (I think it is anyway) MMOGs. I wasn't at all impressed with it. I suppose if the only thing you'd ever played was Lineage it might seem pretty good, but compared to any half way decent modern game it's crap.
28  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / EQ2 Buddy Key Anyone? [Taken] on: December 06, 2004, 08:27:53 PM
Great, I was hoping someone could use it. I'll forward the key to your email.
29  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Pirates!(DVD) FT, looking for Vampire, The Sims 2, Warhammer on: December 05, 2004, 08:35:38 AM
I'll trade The Sims 2 Special DVD Edition for it, if you don't get any offers you like better. If you're interested email [email protected].
30  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / World of Warcraft Collectors Edition USED FS on: December 05, 2004, 03:07:52 AM
Right, if you've already used the key that came with the game, then whoever bought this from you would only get a ten day trial, after which they would have to buy a new copy of the game (with a valid cd key) to continue playing.
31  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / EQ2 Buddy Key Anyone? [Taken] on: December 04, 2004, 08:52:52 AM
I received an email today with a EQ2 buddy key good for a 7 day trial, and I don't have any use for it. The only catch is you have to know someone that can lend you the game CDs so you can install it. I only have one key, so the first person to ask on this thread is welcome to have it.
