Not to spam this thread or try to convince anyone where to put their money but here are a couple of earning reports of two of my funds

First is a Fidelity Large Company fund

see the low 0.02% expense ratio, that helps keep costs down.  Here is a shot of the funds top ten holdings

And here is a Fidelity Small Company fund

performance between the index funds is pretty close.

The small company index holds stock in

Buy Apple stock!

I am actually doing an analysis paper on AAPL for a finance class right now. I want to put some money into it because their numbers are great, but it seems expensive right now. That's always my problem though, I struggle with the when to enter more than anything else.

It can be very hard to convince yourself that the time is right to invest but you have to take the long view and historicaly the market will rise hence why I buy index funds and hold them.  A coworker whose wife also made good money paid off his house years ago so has earnings that are not needed for day to day expenses,  he keeps this money in a bank savings account because he can't make himself buy stocks believing the next crash is right around the corner.  His 401k also is far behind mine because he put all his into the so called chicken fund that has a low but guaranteed retun rate (probably less than 3% annual) while mine dropped steeply in 2008 but recovered in a few years and is doing fine now.  Of course there are no guarantees in life so you have to decide for yourself what your risk tolerance is.

I buy and hold index funds.  These funds track the market pretty closely and have very low expense ratios.  I read about them many years ago on The Motley Fool website and it has worked well for me.  I don't research individual stocks at all, no time or patience.  I compared my 401k holdings with a coworker who does like to study and trade the markets and we actually have pretty much the same assets having started the accounts about the same time.

Little late to the thread but you may want to look at T-mobile for service.  Their Simple Choice plans have free data and text and $0.20 a minute on calls when you're travelling internationally.  They also have 0% interest on phone purchases but it looks a late for that.

Thanks for the info, I was looking at T-mobile and it sounds good.

I'm just hanging around not making much progress at the moment.  My two boss choices are in the Nightmare frontier and Old Yarnham, neither seem all that difficult but I have yet to get a good run and kill them.  I've been looking around each zone to unlock short cuts.  Oh and rock throwing giants can kiss my ass!

I got the blood starved beast without much trouble at all, as the game allowed me to summon in a helper NPC.  One shotted him with the help!

I'm not so sure you can have NPC helpers, most likely it was another player who joined in to help you.  Nice to get past the BSB though, that took me awhile until I used the cocktails to distract him.

After checking around I decided to try the 64 Gig Oneplus One phone for $349 unlocked.  Most reviews seemed positive and the price is right.  Reading about the ordering process almost put me off as they require an invite to order the phone.  Recently they decided to add open orders on Tuesday as well but I went to the forums and found out you can pretty much get an invite just by asking in the invite thread.  I did so and got a invite code within 5 minutes (well after asking a followup question as my request got overlooked at first).  I did have to pay via paypal but I didn't mind that at all.  Now to figure out which plan to sign onto.

I'll be retiring from work soon and so will lose the company cell phone.  Need to study up on phones and plans and such not so does anyone have favorite sites to visit for this type of info.  Since I plan on traveling into Latin America and elsewhere I'd think an unlocked phone might be the ticket but I'm really unsure of all the options.  Currently the company phone gets very little use other than has a means to check work emails and light internet browsing.  My phone might take on larger duties in that I want to be able to look at road maps of where I'm at even if it is not in North America.

Picked this up after becoming obsessed watching streams on Twitch.

Loving it so far - started last night- but I'm dying all the freaking time. I haven't even made it to the first boss w/o dying yet. I've managed to kill everyone around the first bonfire in the street and then proceeded to die to the beast beating on the gate past the bonfire... sigh. Now I don't have any blood vials left and hardly any are dropping. Obviously I've not mastered the basic mechanics of the game since I can't kill the 'normal' mobs, let alone mini-bosses.

Any advice on getting solo mobs pulled rather than 3-4 at a time? That's what kills me - getting mobbed.
Pebbles should pull one guy at a time.  Also watch for their patrol routes.

The big guys with the bricks are easy to gun parry, and usually drop 2 vials.  Try to get the shortcut to the lantern unlocked, and it's a quick run eventually to either boss in the starting area, as well as to two of those brick guys and a wheelchair guy that you can farm for vials and bullets. Early phase of the game is getting comfortable with the flow of combat, the gun parry, dodges, your weapon's moveset and range etc.

Spent a little more time over lunch and started using pebbles. Right now just farming for blood echoes & blood vials - return to Hunter's dream and purchase what I can. Almost back to 14 Blood vials. Hopefully I'll be able to push further tonight. Thanks for the tips.

In the beginning I found dodging the big beast's attack was easier for me vice trying to do the gun stagger.  He will swing and if you dodge you will have time to hit him a few times before he recovers.  Stick and move stick and move!

I seem to be stuck in a corner with no way out, was exploring the area and went into a corner looking for stuff and now I can't get out.  It is a small triangular area and I can't walk, roll or jump out.  I tried using various weapon attack animations to see if that might help but no go.  I've killed all the mobs in the area so they won't come over and kill me.  I have 9 molotov's that I might be able to kill myself with in order to respawn.  Only have 2200 echos on me so it won't be too bad and I might get them back.  If the Molotov doesn't work I think I'll be SoL here.

Well just tried the Molotov and it won't damage me so I don't know what I can do here, try and restart I guess and hope for the best.

Well I am not as good as most at this game but the second boss is down!!! spoilers for my method
Spoiler for Hiden:
Started with the axe in two hand mode and positioned myself between Father G and tombstones.  The heavy charge up attack allowed me to spin towards him and even if the first swing didn't hit the second would.  Cue doing this over and over until the second phase starts.  I switched to the kirkhammer in two hand mode and used a girly circle run up the stairs and down the gap in the fencing to create space when I needed to heal.  I then would wait near the top of the stairs until he jump attacked me, I'd dodge, swing the hammer to stun him, get a couple of more hits in if possible then run.  Rinse repeat until dead.  In the end I had no healing left so it was a close thing at the finish.

Still working on second boss, got it down to about 15% left but got stun locked in a corner.  I have a strategy now that should work and I'm getting him down below 20% most times so it is only a matter of time, would love to be able to advance into newer areas soon.

Still stuck on the first two bosses, I think my locking the camera on the bridge boss caused me to die due to poor camera positioning.  I'm in the process of farming up blood vials and echos to try again, not sure what level I'm at now but still can't upgrade weapons which I figure is locked until I get past at least one of these two.  Father G seemed doable but I ran out of vials and he moves so fast, got him down to half on first try.  Maybe we need to come up with a MP password for GT'ers if we are playing at the same time and want to co-op.  I put forth Gtrend as an option for the password.

Nevermind misread at first.

You need an item before you can upgrade weapons.  Cleric Beast I think is easier to tackle first, what was your starting weapon?

I started with the Hunter Axe and found a Saw Spear but I don't like it too much, low dmg.  I think I need to buy lots of molotov's and upgrade my endurance so I can swing and dodge a bit more.  One thing I might change is to not use the two hand version of the axe so much, uses lots of endurance but then again I don't like having to get so close to the beast to hit it with the one hand version.

Use the axe one handed.  You should be able to trade some blows with him and come out ahead with regain.

Just got him, one handed was the right choice and I managed to stagger him three times with molotov's which helped with the damage.  Whew, onward!

Few more hours into it and to be honest the load times are not bothering me that much, still a pain but the game is so enjoyable (and hard of course) that I have not noticed the loading time that much.  Still in the starter area and just leveled up for the first time with the level up system straight out of Dark Souls which I like.  I have to adjust my play style as the way I used to play in DS isn't  an option here.  Ran into my first boss and got wiped fairly quickly and I probably need to level up a bit before trying again.

Exploring the first area is lots of fun tense action knowing you might lose your souls (or whatever Bloodborne calls them now).  I do wish Bloodborne did a better job of showing where your dropped souls were, as it is now if they are not taken up by a mob (which is a nice touch btw and you can tell who has them pretty easily) they stay on the ground and the indicator for them doesn't look that much different than all the notes and other things sprinkled on the ground. I had to backtrack once to gather them up once I realized no mob had them and I overlooked them on the ground.  I liked Dark Souls with the big green orb showing where you needed to get to.
104  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS4] Bloodborne (previously known as Project Beast) on: March 24, 2015, 06:05:18 AM
Well this is certainly a Dark Souls game, many things are familiar.  Didn't get too far but die (of course) a few times.  Default weapon seems very slow and takes some getting used to, timing is still very important in this game.  Not liking the load times at all especially in a game that I expect to die a lot in, I'm sure someone will time how long it takes to respawn.  Graphics are ok but not next gen jaw dropping stuff, still too early to make a real judgement as I've only seen the opening area.  I like it and don't regret the purchase but those load times ugh.

Well I'm hoping they can fix my vision soon, yesterday they injected me with dye and took lots of photos.  If I get a chance I'll let you know how my vision works in VR, as it is now I pretty much read/surf with my right eye closed so it doesn't strain trying to focus.

I would like to try out a set if only because my right eye won't focus better than 20/200 right now so my vision is primarily left eye dominant.  I figure this could be a real issue when you need to look at separate screens in order to get the VR experience.

With the announcement of Valve getting into VR with the Vive headset (didn't the Rift start at Valve and Valve let the developers go after deciding not to pursue it?), the Rift nearing release (I think?) and Sony moving along with Morpheus there will be some decisions needed to be made ala VHS or BetaMax.  I am a bit surprised that Valve jumped in here after Facebook spent so much on getting the Rift into their clutches.  I admit I feel better with a company like Valve developing VR as opposed to Facebook where I question if they might tie it to more social media stuff vice games (and I guess movies...).  The Vive is supposed to be released this year as well, hope there is some demo of it at PAXEast.

Oh and I forgot to mention Xbox and their AR development.

I don't know - a $60 game with no MP and no bonus modes that's just 7-9 hours in length with lots of unskippable cutscenes? I think people would be talking about it even without that speed run video. Especially a game that's been in development as long as The Order.

Yep this mirrors my opinion, The Order is not a slam dunk must buy and you must do your homework before purchase to see if it is a gamestyle you want to play.  As for me?  Nope not interested in it at all after seeing a few videos of it in action.

which one do you have?

I've had this Sony HT-CT100 Sound Bar for awhile now and it's been a good choice, IMHO. Discontinued now but plenty of newer models, from what I recall they all have a decent selection of connection options.

So your sony soundbar has led me to this...  I have $50 in gift cards that expire in a few days.  I've been toying with getting a 2nd controller for the ps4 but I might use that towards this...  http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A7679079
What do you think?  I'm gonna go check it out at best buy and hope it's on display

No experience with the Sony but I just bought this http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-ATS-1030-Built-Subwoofers-Bluetooth/dp/B00NT6JSKK at Cosco for $189.  Seems to work well but have yet to try the Bluetooth stuff.  I liked the built in subwoofers instead of a separate wireless one that others had.  It has coax, analog and optical inputs but no Hdmi input.  I'm using it along with my XB1, PS4 and Wii U setup.  The consoles plug into the TV via HDMI and the TV goes into the sound bar via optical.
