I always seem to have poor interwebs connections, must be living on the central coast of California that is doing it, I'm thinking of moving to Indy after the new consoles launch.

May I remind everyone that Titanfall is only a timed exclusive, and that it'll also launch on PC alongside the Xbox One version? It's set to launch in 2014.

Can you remind us that we are idiots for buying a Xbox 1 as well?  Haven't heard that in the last 8 hours.
123  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: How are you feeling about your pre-orders now? on: August 22, 2013, 08:06:51 AM
XBoner for me! Wait what?!?  Anyways I am happy to have the XB1 on order for day one edition and 3 games on order as well.  I mentioned in another thread that I'm still in for a PS4 but there are no release day games that I feel I must have so I could cancel that order.  I don't think I will though, I will have both consoles some day so I don't see why it can't be on release day for both.   Watchdogs for the PS4 feels like the direction I'm heading.

What I am looking for in Kinect 2.0 is better tracking for fitness programs.  I actually liked EA Sports Active but sometimes the tracking was just terrible and frustrating to try and get the workout in.  They had to turn off the Kinect tracking for floor exercises (push ups, planks etc) as it just wouldn't see the person down there.  I don't hold out much hope for the Kinect 2.0 pulse tracking and it being a tool that fitness programs could use, seems a bit out there but if it works that would be a huge benefit for the fitness genre.

As crazy as it sounds, I bet there would still be a good amount of people though that would buy either console if they launched initially with no games.

I bet there are people who are going to do that even if there are no games they want in the launch window.

I find myself in this position.  Not really anything out for the PS4 at launch that catches my interest that isn't also on the XB1  More stuff on the XB1 list that I might buy and I have Forza 5, Dead Rising 3 and Ryse pre-ordered.  I think Watch Dogs may be my only launch PS4 title and I could get that on the XB1 if I desire to.  I guess I am also kicking around the idea of canceling my PS4 pre-order but not too seriously.

Really?  Maybe I'm getting frugal at my old age but I'm not sure I see a need for two systems at all this generation, much less two at launch.

I can't imagine buying one without something to play on it.

With old age comes disposable income so yes I can buy a console without any games just to scratch an itch as it were.  I won't try to defend it as it does seem a waste of money on the surface and I won't get full value from my gaming dollar with two consoles and a good PC as well.  There are worse things to blow money on.

I figured I'd be in for Saints Row on the PC but after watching some gameplay videos I'm just not into it.  Waiting for GTA-V I guess for my open world game fix.  So nothing this week, still working through Rogue Legacy.

Nice article.  I have only given money to Star Citizen so I hope that one at least can suceed.  The tone of the article pretty much takes me out of giving any more money to anyone else unless it is a finished product.

I hope that the lack of a publisher allows the team to work on their vision and not meet a bottom line determined by a business model as well as not having to put out a game to meet a end of quarter deadline either.  I'm $110 in and that is the max amount of faith I have, couldn't even add $25 for an additional ship because I was thinking "what if it isn't what I want to play even if it is good"?

136  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Next gen purchase poll on: July 02, 2013, 09:29:53 AM
The types of games that I want to see are the Dragon Dogma and Dark Souls types,  single player character builder games with little to no PvP shooty in the face stuff.  I'm sure I'll get The Division, Titanfall and the other AAA shooter titles (first or third person view won't matter too much) but I'd like to see more of Deep Down that Sony showed off back in April.  Not sure about COD as I also would like to see a return to simpler gameplay such as WWII or even WWI.

While typing this up I had an idea for a game I'd like to see.  WWII submarine game using the Kinect to control the boat via voice and motion controls.  I see this as a slower paced game that might work better than Steel Battalion ever could.  You could toss the Kinect out and make use of the controller but a sub sim would be nice to see on next gen consoles.

Still stupid enough to have both on pre-order and no plans to resale one of them,  I'd say based on the current crop of exclusives and forced to only have one console I'd pick the Wii-U......haha kidding, I'd go XBone.

I hope you fare better than I did Zinfan. I got about half way through and had to quit due to difficulty. They just keep making it harder and harder that at some point it stopped being fun for me. I know what they want me to be able to do, but I'm not good enough to do it.

I have heard that,  I am having fun right now so the game is getting more play than a few other titles I bought and never got into.

Well the first hurdle has been reached.  I was in Undead Burg (I think that is it) and I was kiting a big knight that was guarding a ring, well I had run all the way back to the merchant and was going to drink a estus flask but of course I had firebombs selected.  Now the merchant is mad and won't sell to me.  I read there is a way to get him back on my side but it looks like it is much farther than I've gotten so far in order to get this done.  On the plus side I did kill the knight and he dropped a tianite chuck which I assume will be useful at some point.  Not sure if I will restart with a new character to avoid the NPC issue or just try to muddle along, game sure is fun though.

Re-Kindle Topic

Well I decided I'd try Dark Souls, only a year or two late I guess.  I'm playing on the PC with DSfix enabled and it looks great but man I suck so bad at this game.  Have yet to get past the Asylum Demon, either I miss the drop off the ledge attack that does so much damage and spend the rest of the time dodging and almost getting him or I hit that attack and stumble around and die quickly.  One of these days I'm going to get that drop attack and then dodge around and kill him.  Question though, I noticed an item on a broken staircase near the guy who gives you the flasks but I have not found a way to get to it, is there a way?  I noticed there was a locked door just past the white doorway (the one that takes you to the boss fight) but it is locked and won't open even with the key I got as a starting gift.
140  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Next gen purchase poll on: June 16, 2013, 09:26:10 AM
The amount of negativity and vitriol in these new console threads is so discouraging and off putting.  One fact that all the expert Gamestop genius employees that get quoted all the time seem to miss in the PS4 vs XB1 Pre-order war is that what I buy won't cost anyone else a red cent.  That's right whatever I choose will incur no cost or obligation to others, so why try to make a big issue about which one is best when we won't see either one for 5 months at least?

I guess it is fortunate that consoles only get updated every 7 years, this is ridiculous to follow.  Gaming Trend doesn't seem to have a younger audience so I will assume that the users here can be relied upon to make their own decisions in regards to their own monies and desires.  I see no need to descend into mudslinging just because you don't like someone elses choices.

People buying the Xbox One for multiplayer should be aware that, at least the way things are looking right now, the "I'm buying this console because my friends play multiplayer on it" argument will end up favoring the PS4 this time around. The Xbox One will limit the amount of people you can play with.

I honestly can't remember but I thought it was the Microsoft presser that had 64 players on the stage playing a game, was it the Sony one instead?  Also any link to the info on the XB1 limiting the number of players.  So much info over the last two days so I'm a bit lost.

You missed my point entirely. They don't limit concurrent players. You limit the number of players you can play with because there will be less of them on the Xbox One, the majority having chosen PS4 instead. At least the way it's looking right now. One of the big strengths of the 360 this generation has been the "my friends are already on the 360, so that's the console I'll get" argument, and people who think this also applies to the Xbox One are in for a nasty surprise.

I see your point now but your wording make it a limitation of the XB1 not the user base, that is where I went off message.  I do think it is a bit early to make the final call on who is going to end up where but I do agree that at the moment the PS4 looks to be the new hotness.  MS isn't doing themselves any favors by taking a seemingly  arrogant stance in regards to almost any questions they get so I can see a mass migration to Sony but it isn't a sure thing this far out.

The pic on Amazon for the PS4 didn't have the camera in it, that may be the difference and maybe they will add it under another sku
