I like a capella singing when it is a solo singer leading into a song, I'm not into group a capella songs nearly as much.

13/13 here as well, helps to be a chemistry technician as well as a radiation protection technician, I knows me some radioactivity and atom structure along with the composition of air.  I think I would have missed the fracking question if one of the choices had been oil, that's what I thought is was for.

They do use frakking for oil as well.  I know it's widely used for that in my home state of ND.

Cool! I'm upping my score to 14/13.

Was watching the show until the long gap and just couldn't be bothered to pick it up again.  I don't see the reasons behind this way of doing things, the only result I can see is that you lose your audience interest and hence lose viewers during a long gap in the first season.

Is anyone else having a problem with things getting stuck?  The first kinetoscope video worked fine, but the second and third wouldn't stop playing until I hit the skip button.  Also, the shotgun game in the Fairgrounds seems really messed up.  Sometimes it ends normally, but more often I get stuck in the gun view and can't get out of it without restarting from the last checkpoint.

Have not had either of those problems and I've viewed a number of kinoscopes and played the shotgun game once.

Well I didn't think that I had tonight off work and need something to keep me awake at 2 am so I bought and pre-loaded it ready for later.

Anyone using one or have opinions on them?  My sister just asked me to look at them for my Mom's use, she just writes the passwords down all over the place.  I figure a manager might be a better solution.  I did find this article from a year ago

I've used this recipe with success.

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/jays-signature-pizza-crust/detail.aspx?src=VD_Summary

For a peel I'm using a super peel

http://www.amazon.com/EXO-Super-Peel-Gift-Set/dp/B002PFRXG2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1363736857&sr=8-2&keywords=super+peel

I find 5 1/2 oz of the dough rolls out thin like I like it and fits on my 15" pizza stone.  I cook it at 550-600 deg on my Big Green Egg and it comes out great.

3 .22 LR pistols and a Ruger 10/22 rifle, none of which have been fired in years.  I have maybe 15 rounds of .22 ammo that I keep far away from the guns.  I sometimes think about getting a pump action shotgun just for the sound it makes being cocked, probably make a home invader question his options.

Thanks for sharing with us Kato.

Question:

If your platoon was all 150lb women who carried packs and gear appropriate to their size, would they be less effective at communication, following orders, or killing people with their guns?

At this time the examples I've seen marry the idea that were there to be women in grunt positions, they they wouldn't be able to haul their larger counterparts when downed - but aren't there smaller men who cannot do the same?

You are trying to find a solution to the physical issues but bypassing the psychological issues that have been raised.

I'm not sure you could equip a squad or platoon with "appropriate" gear, would that mean smaller guns, lighter machine guns, less ammo carried, lighter helmets etc?  Those things would affect the ability of the squad and would not intergrate into the larger force be it Army or Marine.

Kato's post about Sentry seems pretty clear on many issues that can't be solved just by creating the perfect physical environment for women on the front lines.

Conversely, the only reason I stuck with it to the end of the pilot was because of Bacon.  I'll keep tuning in to see if it gets better, but right now I'm not seeing any reason to go out of my way to watch it.

Same here, some things seemed too contrived and who doesn't get an Edgar Allan Poe connection the instant they see Nevermore written on a wall?  No season pass for me, I just set up the DVR to get next weeks episode and we shall see how it goes.

24  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: PC GAMING Where it went wrong for me. on: January 07, 2013, 07:37:45 AM
Unless it is for multiplayer I will get a game on my PC.  As long as I don't have to relearn DOS=HIGH ever again I'm quite happy.  I had issues using Steam due to my very slow DSL line when The Witcher 2 kept wanting to download 14 gigs for a patch and that would take days to get but now I'm on a faster cable line and downloading games is a reasonable chore.  FarCry3 had some launch issues since you had to install Uplay before the game would run and nobody seemed to know that ahead of time.

Video card drivers updates are so much better now too, I just got the newest Nvidia driver and it installed with no drama and no reboots needed.
25  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Home Appliances on: January 07, 2013, 07:32:29 AM
Had a side by side fridge/freezer and replaced it with a french door with freezer on the bottom.  Much better IMO, easy access to the fridge stuff and more room in freezer compared to the side by side which was just too narrow to really get much in there.  I'm not a fan of ice/water dispensers in the door of the fridge and lots of problems derive from those things and they take up room inside the fridge anyways, I use ice trays to make ice and don't miss the automatic ice maker at all.  If the kitchen is small and you don't have a large family you could look at counter depth frigdes, not quite as deep as a standard one so it saves a bit of room.

I have a Fisher Paykel washer that is top loading but I'm not sure what you mean by agitator?  I would think all top loaders use the same basic mechanism to wash the clothes.  Anyways the F&P works well and I have no plans to replace it anytime soon.

Spent a couple hours with this last night, and think I'm starting to get the hang of the touch controls.  Odd that things in the tutorial feel so much more difficult than they do in-game.

Still really struggling with the rulesets though.  Going to have to do some serious research to recall those.
This site was really helpful for me.  Lots of good info, and even some thoughts and opinions about the classes and kits.  Don't be afraid of the url address, it's a real site.

http://www.playithardcore.com/pihwiki/index.php?title=Baldur%27s_Gate

Thanks.

Unfortunately, the more I play the less I like the touch interface.  Door transitions are damn near impossible, it's very difficult to target specific enemies in combat (even when zoomed all the way in), it's tough to scroll the map without moving your party, selecting interactive items (i.e. chests, shelves, etc.) is challenging, etc., etc

While it's cool to be able to play something of this scope on my iPad, I'm not sure it's worth the interface frustrations at this point.

While enjoying the game I have to agree about the interface, hard to use sometimes, don't get me started on trying to get the party up stairs inside a house/Inn, madding for sure.  Having a hard time seeing things when it is night time in the game, not due to the night but from the overall dark shades in the game combined with the reflective screen on the iPad.  Any hints on how to use the items in the quick slots?  I skipped the tutorial so perhaps it was explained there but I try touching the item such as a healing potion and nothing happens even if I try to touch the character portrait next.

I find it worth the $10 even with the issues, thanks for the link to that website as I've rolled up a half elf bard who is using the skalds kit and it seems fun even at level 1.

I decided to start a new game to see if I still couldn't get into those areas I had issues with, seems it may just have been the difficulty using the touch Interface as I managed to get into the rat house after a few try's so not a bug but just the way the game is.

Anyone pick up Baldur's Gate yet? Waiting to hear how the touch controls are before I bother.

Takes a bit of getting used to.  If you don't have gotta have it now! Vibe it might be best to wait a bit, I've had a few small issues with the game but they weren't show stoppers.
33  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/iOS/Android] Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 Enhanced Editions on: December 08, 2012, 08:50:32 AM
The interface is taking some getting used to, mostly moving the chars when I'm just trying to scroll the map.  Combat targeting is a bit touchy (see what I did there?) as you have to touch the small red circle under the enemy, it can be hard to tell if you have set up the attack.  I'm sure it will become easier as I get used to the new way of playing the game.

Did have a couple of bugs, in Candlekeep I couldn't get into a hut that I was supposed to clear of rats and a barracks that I also couldn't enter even after opening the door and trying to walk inside, I did get into the barracks a bit later on using the same things as when I failed earlier.  Also had a couple of conversations that seemed to freeze for awhile before moving on.

Still having a blast playing it.

Can't play FC3 from Steam at the moment, game won't launch and a check of the forums shows others with the same problem.  Don't really want to download 8.5 gigs again but that may be the only option at this point.
