All true. It sucks. A laptop is much better. Windows is better. Andriod is better. Apple's strict rules. Etc. Etc. (The more I use this thing, the more I like it) Is browsing weird without tabs? (I don't have an iPhone). No it's not weird. There is a button that opens a preview window of all the tabs that the browser has open. I'm writing this on the iPad. On a side note on replying on long posts like this - Safari doesn't have the scroll bar on the right. Not sure how to fix that. On a good note, I've set the home button to make the screen do a dark color inverse when pressed 3 times. It makes browsing in the dark very easy on my eyes!

I have one sitting in Kentucky and a few hours ago turned to out for delivery to Redmond WA....the other one per UPS said it was in China, and then about 3 hours ago all of the sudden said out for delivery to Phoenix AZ. I was cursing UPS...but if I get them today...I will thank Apple, not UPS Don't lose hope yet.

You got to stop posting rittchard! I now want to preorder an Airstash - very cool, but my wallet hurts And I hope they approve Opera, I don't think it will replace safari for me, but it would be nice to have an option. Couple of items: First, check this out, I just pre-ordered one: www.airstash.comI almost cancelled it in favor of Apple's non-wireless version (not available to order as of today), thinking you wouldn't be able to independently use the unit when you were travelling, but apparently it makes its own little network so you can use it on-the-go. This is just way too cool and totally opens things up for me in terms of storage and media. Now I could theoretically throw a few seasons worth of Buffy on a single SDHC card, or the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, or my entire photo library, or tons of pr0n (!!), or a huge chunk of my music library and just hotswap SD cards. Schweet! I actually am wondering if it makes more sense to just get the lowest-memory iPad now and only store Apps on it. Second, looks like Opera may be coming to iPhone/iPad fairly soon, unless Apple blocks it: http://www.macrumors.com/2010/03/23/opera-submits-browser-app-to-apple-starts-countdown/

The problem is that you went to Subway. This never would have happened at a REAL sandwich shop. The civil people congregate at Quiznos? They have a pepper bar I'm told.... I love their 81 sauce Besides, I go to quiznos for their 2 for $5 lunch...I love their bullet sandwiches!

Woah now, hold the crazy talk. There is no way the iPad could replace my kindle. The last thing I want to do when I go to bed and read is stare at a glowing computer screen. Totally agreee - I don't expect that the iPad will replace my Kindle either. Although I am looking forward to seeing how books look on the iPad -- especially if they do get some deals for full color magazines subscriptions. Have you tried Classics? ( http://www.classicsapp.com/) I pulled that down a few weeks ago for the iPhone, and so far reading on it has actually been good. I think with the right background color and brightness level - the iPad will do great with book/magazine reading.

I've not yet preordered because my Apple buddies cannot yet preorder. I wants my 25% discount.
25%!!! DAMN - that would have saved some $$. I pre-ordered two of them. Wish we could get in your deal! As for the discussion on the Kindle - yes it was great. I loved reading on it, but at the end of the day two things bothered me on the Kindle: 1) Lack of light - yeah, heard all the argument on it, but in my experience it sucks to have a book light with me. Reading by book light was not a great experience. It was also bad a couple of times getting on a flight and having the light above be dead - couldn't read then. So I pulled out my iphone and was reading on it - and playing games. So eInk is nice - when your in a nice bright room or have a good light source. 2) Navigation - The navigation on the Kindle is bad. Kludgy to select items, and not great for note taking on books. I think the iPad will do better in this area for me. So with that - yeah SOLD my Kindle I do expect the iPad to replace my main reading device.

So who here pre-ordered? In looking at the past two pages, I don't think anyone here admitted to pre-ordering! Well - I did pre-order, so here's to April 3rd that can't come soon enough I've also sold my kindle last week, and so I'm committed, ha!

Hey Duncan! Yep, I'm the same ravenvii as over there. Still debating whether to get the WiFI or the WiFi + 3G model here. Though I already know I'll get the 16 GB model. I'm getting wifi. If the thing had been equipped with a rear facing camera for augmented reality applications I wouldn't have hesitated in getting the 3G version. Everyone seems to be b*tching about the lack of a front facing camera for videoconferencing (that I would never use), but I'm wanting them to add a rear facing camera in future versions so we can really get augmented reality apps. Picture holding it up in a public square like a viewfinder and seeing all the informational overlays on each building and landmark. Ah well... wifi version for me. Wifi version for me...since I already have an iphone, I don't think I'll need the 3G capability - and would rather spend the money on extra GB. So I don't know if I'll go for the 64GB...32GB seems like a LOT of space already.

Hmm.. This still just doesn't bother me. I have an always-on connection anyway, and I have other, better devices to entertain me in airports. I mean, how often is the average gamer sitting on an airplane anyway?
I understand that it's irritating in concept, but in practice, a) I don't pirate games and b) I play PC games at home 99.5% of the time on a solid connection so c) I just won't get worked up over this.
Let's say your internet connection is perfect and available 24/7 without any interruption. That still doesn't guarantee you have solid connection to Ubisoft server. There are a lot of switches between your ISP to ubisoft server, any of them can affect your connection to Ubisoft server. There is also no guarantee that Ubisoft server is available to accept connection. There are plenty of possibility that can cause the Ubisoft server to be inaccessible, things like overloaded (there are plenty of example where authentication server can't handle the request for activations on launch date and that is only one time connection while Ubisoft's DRM require constant connection), DDoS attack on the server, hardware failure, software bugs, networking problem, etc. And you just know that Ubi's servers are going to see some DDoS attacks. That's evil thought...but totally true. It will happen

They do work, but you're wrong in thinking they're vector. You can set whether the app runs in it's native resolution (with huge black borders) or scaled up to fit the iPad's screen. There will be blurring (anti-aliasing), however.
It's up to you if you'll put up with the anti-aliasing, but I wouldn't snap up games in preparation for the iPad, I think it's more wise to wait and get the games once they port it to the iPad. If you want to play the games now on the iPhone, then that's another story.
You're right...not vector. But I am ok with them scaled up/pixeled up/zoom, see picture attached below (link to article where picture appeared). Pictures are 1)Original size on ipad, 2)zoom on ipad, and 3)reworked for ipad. The point is that I have been picking up more games and playing on the iphone, wishing it to be bigger (hence playing on the iPad). I do tend to get them, play for a bit - and then put them aside to be played on the iPad. I did this quite a few times in the past week - the point that I said to myself that yeah, I'm picking up games and will be playing them on the iPad. Today for example, I picked up "All in 1 gamebox" (which for 99cents I think is a steal) - and played for bit and realized that I really want to play them on a bigger screen. So I put it aside, waiting for the iPad I do agree that native iPad games will be MUCH better, but I'm happy with getting a fun game for cheap that I can now play on the iPhone and later on the iPad. So yeah, I'm not playing a lot of games now (not much anyway) and am waiting to play them on the iPad.

SM2 makes me wish for a bigger screen, I wonder how it's going to translate over to the iPad. will it work at all or will the screen just be stretched....
I find myself starting to collect/buy games to prep for the iPad The iPad will have their own native games, just so you're aware. Don't want to buy a game, only for them to release an iPad-native version that you'd have to re-buy. Really? From what I've read, the games will work just fine on the iPad. Since the graphics are vector, they translate up - so its not jagged. I'm sure they will have some native ipad ones, but all the current iphone game should work fine.

Ours was a continuous little leak. The bastard leaked behind the water heater, so it wasn't visible. We noticed it when the room next door had a pool of water. It was probably leaking for a good 4 to 6 hours before we saw it. The dry wall behind the water heater was soaked, as was two walls in the next room. The gypsum board (dry wall) just kept soaking up the water, and when it couldn't anymore was when the water started pooling. By the time it was done there was a lot of damage.

Yup, I just put one in a couple months ago. Damn thing burst...and the water heater was around $650 (installed). Check with your local gas company, I got a $75 rebate in the mail from them. The thing that cost more was fixing all the water damage (wall, wood, etc).

Just an FYI, AT&T finally allowed Slingplayer Mobile to work through the 3G network and the new App for it was released yesterday. Works incredibly well, assuming you have a really good 3G connection. Oddly enough, it works far better here at work than it did at home.
Down side is the price is still at $30.
The other downside is that Sling would only allow you to use it with their newer slingboxes...leaving those of us with the older version stuck. It sucks when their "beta" software worked just fine with the older slingboxes, but then when they finally released it must be the newer slingboxes. So not only am I not going to support them by buying a new box, but see no reason to pay $30 for the player software as well - and have been looking to move on to a different streaming system/software.

I'm curious what you mean by being bothered by the hype affecting you. Are you bothered that you are slowly being converted by the hype to one of the Apple Borg Collective (ABC) or are you bothered by the negativity that the hype seems to draw?
Its bothering me that I thought it was a great device, and would fit into my world. As I talked to co-workers about getting the device I find myself defending it against all the "negative" of what it isn't. And it some sense it got me talking about it more, and supporting it, even though I don't have the damn thing. That's what I meant by the hype bothering me. That the hype is now coming from me and that I'm doing it to fight back all the negativity. I was never in the ABC, but have converted to Macs in 2004 for my own personal computing. But work is still pretty much all Microsoft all the time (MS SQL Server, MS Sharepoint, etc etc) - so its interesting that for my own personal work, I use a Mac. Overall, I found that OSX has been the most stable operating system from what I've used and so why not use what works. I don't want to fix things at home, I get enough of that at work

Its incredible the amount of buzz Apple has generated for this. Its amazing to me that Amazon (and a few other companies) are having to compete against a product that isn't even available for sale yet. I can't wait to get mine, but at the same time it bothers me that there a lot of hype on this and that its affecting me. I never considered myself an Apple "fanboi", but even though I work in a mostly "Microsoft" environment that I'm slowly becoming more and more Apple (macbooks, iphone, ipods, and future ipad owner).
