been awhile since I played it, but I seem to remember that when you browse the races it tells you whether you have a qualifying car in your garage.

and isn't there a number related to your car? Like "500" "493" etc? You want to upgrade your car to the max allowed for that class race.

or am I thinking of GT6 instead?  retard

Having never read the books, I nonetheless got to thinkin' .........

where would Smaug fall in the grand scheme of things if Sauron succeeded? Surely Sauron would have a hard time defeating him.

11  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Hunting Hogzilla...Thief-style (Cabela's new game) on: March 27, 2014, 07:19:39 PM
Imagine stalking the 800-pound Hogzilla, through an open field riddled with big rocks and bushes, and having to get within 25 yards before taking the shot with nothing but your recurve bow.

But watch the wind......let your scent waft down his way and the hunt is over once he gets a whiff. And keep the noise down. Way down. If he hears you the hunt is again, over.

I just started playing Cabela's Pro Hunts and this was the only hunt (mission) left before I could move on from the southeast areas to the northeast. That was some intense gameplay, and right up there with any Thief mission i've ever played. True stealth.

So far, the game is pretty good. Animal AI is much better.....the animals will run if they see, hear or smell you. If they're predators and they're close, they will come after you. There was some grinding on some easier hunts to finally get to Hogzilla, though. And while this is slower-paced gameplay.....you cant just go running around the woods shooting shit.....it is also time-based which adds some urgency. It's a pretty good mix so far.

The game is based around new "Pro Hunts" that are like boss battles in regular games. Once you meet the requirements you enter the pro hunt and you'll get a short cutscene with pro hunters giving you tips before heading out. It definitely adds to the experience.

You can do "open" hunts to gain some experience (XP goes towards opening up new hunts and equipment), and there are side missions...err, hunts...that get you more XP.

So far the game is doing a good job of unlocking new stuff and hunts in a steady progressive manner. The graphics are prettier. And the animals have some nifty new realistic animations. And on the GPS map it will show your location with a purple cloud wafting in the direction of the wind, letting you know where not to hunt, along with pro tips for any area you click on. Nice.

edit: changed the topic title so you didnt think this was a Thief mod  icon_razz

I rewatched the sequel, Escape from Los Angeles a few months ago after it showed up on my DVR thanks to Tivo's "suggestion" feature.

...it was not good.  I had honestly forgotten how absolutely horrid it was.  The original is a timeless classic though.

The first still holds up decently enough, and yeah it also had Adrienne Barbeau  nod

Anyone here have experience with either of these?

Almost any Adventure Game.

They always sound so appealing, but end up never reeling me in.

.

Does that go for the Gabriel Knight games too?  I love adventure games, but those stand out to this day. I include Grim Fandango and the Tim Schafer stuff in that list. Monkey Island for example.

I never liked text adventures, spent too much time trying to figure out how to get the Babel Fish in my ear. biggrin

I tried Grim Fandango, but gave up on it early. It seemed better than most.

I bought Dishonored a couple days after it was released, then promptly traded it while it was still worth something. It did nothing for me as well.

Because of the puzzles or just in general?

I know I prefer the inventory kind versus logic. Even then I usually resort to a walkthrough at points because I'm really there for the story first and foremost.

Ya, it's the puzzles.

The settings, story, and graphics always hook me to start....but then I get to the first nonsensical puzzle and give up.

I've actually only bought one special edition game in my life, and that was Forza 5. At $80, that makes it the most money I've ever spent on a single game besides MMOs. I don't really regret the purchase as I really like the game, but I think I could have just as easiily bought the regular edition without missing the extra cars.

Had I an $80 gift card instead of the $50 one....I would have bought this in a second.

Just got my class b(?) license. Last GT game I played was GT4.

I like it, but not as much as Forza 4 or 5. Where are the cars I want, namely musclecars? Are they still locked, or are they never showing up? I mean, there are some, but not many compared to Forza. Forza even has my Scion IQ (Aston Martin Cygnet) but with right-hand drive.

And what's with no test drives before buying? And the "loaner" car choices are slim.

ehh, nevermind.....it must have updated cause now i have a bunch more cars to pick from  icon_confused

yep, 9 feet.  which stinks for my current setup, as that length is just short enough that it won't lay on the floor, but instead will be suspended just enough for the dogs to trip over it.  sure, it probably has a breakaway section, but those things don't always work.

lol my dogs get the boot during gaming sessions
