I wouldn't say Gary Taubes or the blog of Dr Michael Eades is reputable, personally.

I've read and know of the Framingham critics, so we can agree to disagree. That is just one study of many that I trust and generally agree with the findings.

My long drawn out post really was meant for folks to read and research before popping pills because their docs and the drug manufacturers say so.

I've worked with or alongside some doctors I swear are true idiots and they prescribe ridiculous medications, not just statins,  that most people don't need.

Indeed, the Standard American Diet doesn't work. Two of the many things I hate with my job is #1 feeding unnecessary medications to most of my patients and #2 having to lie about what a healthy diet entails.

Good for you for understanding the importance of LDL. Not many places check particle size, so that's great you know that as well.

My intentions are always to educate and let everyone know when you should be on a statin and how to educate yourself.

Sounds like you are on top of it.

Would you care to say what medication and dose you were prescribed?  And while 253 is high, that's not awful really. I've seen numbers over twice that.

Also, did you get a A1C checked? That shows blood sugar readings over the course of a few months. That is extremely important to know as is your baseline blood pressure.

As an RN and someone who has concentrated on cardiology and currently going through Holistic RN education, I encourage everyone to research statins and cholesterol.

Just like I do with my patients and family members, I don't give medical advice. However, I strongly recommend research before you start taking medications. IMO, and other very well respected MD and scientists in the medical community, statins are perhaps the biggest scam in modern medicine.

High cholesterol in and of itself is not a reason to take a statin. It's much more complicated than that.

I like to point individuals to this site for a good starting point on your personal research.

Additionally, i HAD been on a statin myself for numerous years. Even with my education and professional work experience, I took my pill and other supplements to lower my numbers. It wasn't until I started having bone, joint, and muscle issues earlier this year that I started to pay more attention to statins. The long and short of it is that I personally blame simvastatin for contributing to my problems. If you research, the facts are there.

Three months ago I decided to stop taking my meds. I had my blood work done and sure enough my cholesterol was 250+, however, my LDL was awesome.

My doc called me personally and asked if I stopped taking my meds. I told her yes and I that I was done with them (she know my professional background). I also told her my blood pressure was awesome ( 115/65 without medication) and I had recently dropped eating meats to only 1 or 2 times a week. I continue to exercise and have dropped a bit of weight. I do drink beer 2 or 3 times a week and I've never smoked. To my surprise, she told me I was doing great and don't worry about my cholesterol as long as my lifestyle stays the same. I'll add that I really respect her as an MD because she supports a holistic, natural, and preventative lifestyle. Docs like that are hard to come by these days. Not because they don't believe this type of medicine, but the pharmaceutical companies practically force an MDs hand.

I'll also add that my father died at 52 of a massive heart attack. However, he was obese, heavy smoker, and ate garbage daily. He was a ticking time bomb. His father just recently died at age 94. He ate the typical high fat southern diet, but had normal blood pressure and was a small man (150 lbs). I know for a fact he didn't take a statin. He took 1 blood pressure med and a baby aspirin until he died. For me, the proof is in the evidence.

Again, I only offer to encourage each person to make their own decision on if they should take a statin. But the research is there that contradicts the "high cholesterol" causes heart disease and attacks theory.

Anyone like to guess who funds a lot of those studies?

I really enjoyed Heritage and the concert for that show was an incredible show of musicianship.

However, I'm not a fan of this record.

Giving it a shot.

I'm wanting to sell my Day One Xbox One or trade for a PS4. I have everything in mint condition with the box and all manuals. I also have a new extra wireless controller.

In addition I have Titanfall and Battlefield 4. I'm looking for $450, but could wiggle a bit since shipping with insurance could run a few $$.

Best way to contact me is email @ [email protected]

trading to one of the stores is a big mistake at this point imo, you're going to take a horrible hit to the value and really screw yourself.

Try the trading forum here, or just sell it outright to another player if you're determined to get rid of it.

I'll call it now though, at some point in the next year, you're going to wish you kept it then convince yourself you don't.

Nah, if it weren't for my son, my 360 would have gotten little to no use over the years. However, my PS3 is my baby.

Really not sure why I went with the Xbone instead of the PS4 anyhow.

Regardless, I'll research a trade or sell price and see if I get any bites here before I get crushed at a retail store.

Best Buy or GameStop for trading my day 1 Xbone with extra controller? Also BF4 and Titanfall.

Plan on using to trade for PS4.

Who screws me the last?

I'm thinking of selling my Xbox One.

If I do, can I buy Titanfall for the 360 and keep my account, stats, season pass, etc?

Curious if I could do this for BF4 as well.

I just pre-ordered MLB The Show 14!  First baseball game I've bought in a long time and can't wait.

I have a real desire to sell my XB1 just to get the PS4 for The Show. Love, love, love that game.

Now with huge buyers remorse with Titanfall, I have no reason to keep my XB1. Really wanting The Show.

I'm pretty much done to be honest. I hit 50 and prestiged a few levels and haven't had any desire to play any further.

Probably my biggest buyers remorse for a game.

So I gave this a generous effort for a few hours today and I'm coming around a bit.

Yes I still suck and I have no idea how others are getting off the shots they do, but I'm improving. Actually got 9 pilot kills in a game once.

However, I'm honestly doing something terribly wrong with my titan. When I set him to guard or follow, he does decent on his own. However, when I control him I'm destroyed in practically seconds. Seems as soon as I take control someone is on top of me and before I can eject and shoot them off, my titan dies.

Any tips to controlling your titan?

Let me say I agree with alot of those points and part of the reason I'm losing interest fast.

Not enough weapons for pilots and 5 game modes.

Totally agree.

I'm looking forward to the BF4 expansion next week.

I was thinking after posting earlier.... The one thing that is boring for me are the maps. There just isn't enough variety, everything looks the same.

Don't know if anyone else has that feeling.

I'm having some buyers remorse for sure.

I purposely didn't play the beta because I wanted it to be "fresh and new to me".

So far I'm up to level 37 with what I feel is minimal playing time. Part of my issue is I think you can level too quickly.

I'm also an average to mediocre fps player. But I'm just bored with the seemingly repetitive gameplay. I thought hardpoint would be a blast for me, but I find it still alot of chaotic running and gunning.

Like gratch, I'm getting killed so fast that half the time I don't see it coming or by whom. Things are moving way too fast for me that most of the time I'm lost.

Regardless of the game mode, I just find myself running around like crazy and jumping on enemy Titans to rodeo them. Rinse and repeat.

I'm glad others are having a good time, I find it very repetitive and boring already at level 37.

I love BF4 and have had little to no issues with it like others. I'll be going back to that and look forward to the expansion next week. That's more my pace.

Bought this on release and have honestly played maybe three or four times.

Love soccer, but can't do it on a video game.

Trying to save up for Titanfall so I'll take stuff like GameStop or Amazon credit. Not interested in trade.

FYI, there are numerous upon numerous codes available. There is a thread over at CAG with people posting codes. Some work, some don't. Took me maybe 15 minutes of digging through the thread to find some codes and place an order. Takes an hour or longer to get the email with the redeemable points, but it works.

Registered Nurse in Maui.

I currently work on a Cardiac unit. I've done everything from ICU (too much death, heartache, sadness) to the GI Lab (that job really stunk).

We get tons of visitors as patients and it never gets old hearing how lucky I am to live here.

After having the Roku3 for 4 days and the Leaf for 2, here are my early impressions.

The Leaf works as advertised. Took less than 5 minutes to install. It  did however, take more to find the optimal placement. Once I found the best reception area, I had 12 OTA digital  channels.

The Roku3 I'm having buyers remorse. Easy setup as well. However, for me and the wife the programming isn't for us. Tons and tons of channels, but most don't appeal to us.  Tonight for example, we literally flipped through stations for over an hour and still eventually ended up on Amazon Prime.

I'm leaning toward sending the Leaf and Roku back for refund and keeping nothing but internet. Between Amazon Prime, MLB.TV, NHL Gamecenter, and a new subscription to Hulu Plus, we wouldn't miss much from cable..... except the $130 monthly bill down to just $35 for broadband.

However, come fall I'll have to figure out how to watch football.

My Roku and Leaf will be here this week.
I already have a Amazon Prime, MLB, and NHL membership. Honestly nothing on Hulu Plus excites me, so I might just sub to Netflix.

Plus there is quite a few stations on Roku I'm looking forward to.

I'll just have to wait until the last episode of The Walking Dead is done before I cut cable.
