Carter always seemed to be a generously happy guy. Sorta teammate everyone loves to have around. Still bothers me this morning to read the stories. Sucks when your childhood heros pass on. Obviously way too young for "the kid". Thanks for the memories Gary and may you now rest in peace

I'm all over this. The Marvel boards were boring and I've gone back to some of the older tables and finding new things I haven't found before. They can keep Hulk if its anything like the previous ones.

Ok Amazon has these in stock this morning. Gonna pull the trigger but need some advice on the 32 or 64gb flavors. Doesn't the docking station add more storage or have a usb where you can add an external drive or sd card or something if i needed more storage? Was wondering if i should just get the 32gb if it would be cheaper in the long run. I use cloud base programs for all my music and really don't see why i would need much more than 32gb from the start.
Any opinions?

I guess at this point the best place to buy is wherever it's available. Nowhere around Denver has them. I don't care about the gps either. I know i've read about the wifi issues, but honestly i think it's a small sample of consumers. Whenever i can find one i'll be buying. I like that i can take all my android apps from my phone and sync them to the tablet.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Any value in broken 360 or PS3?
|
on: February 05, 2012, 02:13:54 AM

I have a launch 360 and backward compatible PS3 that are both broken and sitting in my closet.
First question, is there any value with any of these?
Secondly, if so, do i need to worry about any personal info that i need to clean before i hand them over to a stranger? If so, how would i do that being that they both are shot?

We are going to Vegas for a week in April and i just found out that Mastadon/Opeth/Ghost will be at the House of Blues in Vegas while we are there. The wife gave me the thumbs up and i'm psyched. Probably will be much of the same Opeth set i saw last year (but i thought it was incredible and worth seeing again). I never was much into Mastadon, but i've been listening to them alot more lately and hear they put on one hell of a show.

Our resorts here in Colorado have been hurting thus far this season. Monday was the first day i got to ski in "real" snow. Apparently come this weekend it's suppose to snow hard with probably over a foot in the mountains.
Feel a sore throat and cold coming on.....

Gratch thats some good shit....like it alot
So here is my loot from the Google sale over the holidays. Got some stuff i really like.
#1 Volbeat- Beyond Hell/Above Heaven. I read alot of heavy metal blogs and have heard their song Evelyn (lead vocals by Napalm Death) before. I've read nothing but good things about Volbeat but never took the time to go beyond the song Evelyn (which kicks ass btw). Let me tell you, this album and band has such a unique style it's really a breath of fresh air. Anyone with an appreciation for good music needs a listen to them. They will be in Denver next month with Megadeth and Motorhead and i think i'm gonna go just to see them. Google some of their music, very cool stuff.
#2. Exhumed- All guts/No glory. Liking this album alot too. They got the death metal screams and growls going on, but kinda simultaneously. Nice guitar riffs as well. Good purchase.
#3. Vader- Welcome to the Morbid Reich. I know they've been around forever, but never gave them alot of listening. Kinda standard death metal, but i really like the singers voice. Like this album good too. Be willing to check out their older stuff. Best sound is Decapitated Saints.
#4. Abysmal Dawn- Leveling the plane of existence. Good stuff here too. Death metal with more melodic sound. Great guitar riffs. Growling vocals but you can actually understand most of the lyrics. Favorite song is My own savior.
#5. Deicide- To hell with God and The Stench of Redemption. Never listened to Deicide but took a chance. To hell with God is decent, but the Stench of Redemption is heavy and rocks. They are here in March with Jungle Rot and i think i'll check this show out.
Jungle Rot- Kill on command. As mentioned by Gratch earlier, pretty standard Death Metal. Nothing really stands out on the album, but it's a fun listen. Gonna go see them with Deicide in March.
Final thoughts, Volbeat is awesome. Got some good stuff to listen to for awhile. I'm hoping Google Music does another sale like this in a few months because there are some releases coming out soon i wanna get.

My son got Just Dance for his birthday and he's been playing Dance Central for quite a while. The 2 biggest differences i can see are the difficulty and song choices. The easy dances on Just Dance can be ridiculous. But he seems to like the songs for Just Dance as well. Too early to tell, but i think he likes Just Dance better.
As an fyi, i "attempted" Baby one more time last night and couldn't get through the intro. This white boy has ZERO moves.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Want to share cool stuff about my dad (military stuff)
|
on: November 30, 2011, 03:10:08 AM
|
|
I'll go ahead and apologize for the lenght this post may become and i'll apologize for rambling that may occur....
I'm 38 and my father died of a sudden heart attack 10 years ago (can't believe it's been that long). I was very close to my father and thought i knew alot about his time spent in Vietnam. This afternoon my mother arrived for vacation and brought with her some of my father's personal military items....and i'm shocked at what i have learned.
First off, i'm embarassed to say i'm relatively a poor historian of our country's military. However, my wife and i have been studying WWI, WWII, and the Vietnam War, amongst others. I have a nearly 9 year old son who we are educating as well. I've always had the upmost respect for our military and for those who serve. But i'm almost ashamed that i haven't known more and how ignorant i have been.
I had asked my mother to bring with her some stuff of my dad to share with my son. He never met his grandad and has seen just a few pictures here and there. I wanted to share my dads legacy with my son...something he could be proud of. I sit here now nearly beaten down.
I wish i could take a big picture (and i might) of what she brought. Dozens of his personal letters written from everywhere from basic training to the trenches of Vietnam. I have hand written letters from an innocent 17 year old begging his parents and family for prayers. I'm reading and crying and thinking, my God (no offense) this is my father as a kid fighting a war and risking his life. Telling my grandparents that if he dies to know he died fighting for our country. I was years away from being his son.
Dozens of photos of him and his buddies all over the world....Alaska, Georgia, Australia, Philipinnes, Cambodia, etc. His life insurance policy of $10,000 in 1967. Metals, honors, his discharge papers, etc etc etc.
My son is going through this stuff and saying "Awesome...how cool" and "Dad, why you crying". "Wow, grandad was a hero"!
I'm humbled beyond belief. I've been reading stuff for hours and it's really just starting to sit in on what i have learned. My father never talked about Vietnam because he said it hurt too much. My mom said he told her stuff she never wanted to tell me he experienced....now i know why.
So i thought this was an amazingly (sp ?) cool story to share. In the coming days i'm going to spend some time going through the stuff in depth and i'll share here if anyone is interested. I suspect i'm bound to find some awesome stuff.
And lastly, i humbly thank you Vets....beyond words.
