Actually this could help them gain some market share, since it mentions it the 2nd link that his company can get you a conversion. That could be an incentive for some people.

As for Hybrids, Toyota, Ford and Honda already have them, (plus maybe some of the other guys do too, not sure) but this new idea of a biodeisel/Hyrdrogen Hybrid sounds pretty interesting. Especially since buying a hybrid these days in the long run, doesn't save any money...and in fact ends up costing more than you could ever save in fuel (due to expensive repairs/battery replacements). But here's to this changing in the future.  thumbsup

Ok. No offense (sincerely!) and I readily admit that I've never understood the death metal thing, but whoever is the 'singer' in your band needs to be put out of his misery.  He sounds ridiculous.  Don't know what song it was but it sounded like he was trying to sing whilst burping.  And the 'vocals' are up way too loud to the point of not being able to hear the music.

That would be me. I do guitar and vocals.
The thing about death metal is that the vocalist (I never use the term singer, because obviously what I do on the album isn't singing, nor do I wish to) is used more like another instrument as opposed to somewhat of a leader in a sing-a-long. Obituary's first album didn't even have any words (aside from a bit of a chorus in one song), even there were vocalizations throughout the entire album. Personally, I can't understand Bob Dylan's vocals either (and I know I'm not alone on that one), but that doesn't stop anyone from enjoying his music. I guess with Death Metal it's just expected, you're not going to be able to pick out most of the lyrics, and if you want to know what they are, there's always the cd booklet.

The vocals being way up in the mix in the songs on the site would be due to mp3 compression. Aside from an overall sound-wise quality drop, the other result of mp3s is that it messes up the mix abit. Especially since the bitrate for myspace mp3s is quite low. Having 4 guitars, bass, keyboards, drums and vocals (and sometimes another 2 guitars and SFX in certain parts) also highlights the mp3 issue since it's a rather complicated mix as opposed to a basic 1 guitar, 1 bass, 1 vocals and drums mix which perhaps heavy mp3 compression was more geared towards.

He said he bought it with an extended warranty...but I thought the 1 year warranty was free, no? Either way, he's convinced he can take it back directly to them and get them to fix/replace it.

With EB's extended warranty, you can bring the system in an swap it right out. Only one problem - the warranty is useable ONCE. You have to spend another $30 or so (however much it is) to get your new one covered again.

The 1 year warranty is through Microsoft. And you have to go through all the normal channels (with the 3-4 week wait) to use it.

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up.

Ridiculous for a less than 2 month old system to act like that.

I'd love a 360 for the games, but I really think I'm going to wait for the rumoured Jasper now....or just (as others have mentioned) possible just sit this incarnation of the Xbox out.

People shouldn't have to pay extra for what should be standard, ie, a working console.

Black I absolutely loved this game. A bit short, but a total blast (pardon the pun) all the way through.
Alot of the environment is destructive and adds to the mayhem. All the firearms seem very realistic from their strengths and weakness' to their sounds.

Conker Like a couple people here have said, basically the same as the N64 version. Don't bother if you have the N64 version as you probably won't notice any differences. I played the 64 one all the way through, and the only thing I noticed different was when they actually told you it was different. Then again, I only played the Xbox one part way through due to this very reason, but I'm assuming if there's virtually no changes up until the half way point, there will be very few, if any, after that. Oh yeah, and the multiplayer is much worse in the Xbox version. Yeah, it's online at least, but you can only have one player per screen, they took out the best mode (Beach), and when you get shot once, all your opponent has to do is time it so that when you're about to finally get up, shoot you again before you get a chance to even control yourself(which is too easy to do). You'll get knocked down again, the process is repeated until you're finally dead. Yay! FUn!   finger Roll Eyes  retard Get the N64 version if you've still got one kicking around.

Mechassault 2 I don't normally like Mech games, actually, I normally hate them, but this one (and part one) are pretty good. Part one might've had a better single player, but the multi in part 2 was better IMO.

Silent Hill 2 To be honest felt like a poor mans' Resident Evil, it wasn't terrible...but felt like it was missing something....kind of like the first Silent Hill on PS1. Then again, I think if you liked the first one, you'll probably like this one as they felt very similar to me.

Can't vouch for any BC-ness as I don't have a 360.

I've never played Fatal Frame II but Austic Angel's mini-review on it makes it sound awesome. I'll be picking one up for sure.

My friend brought his over again last night, and got 4-5 E68 messages before it would start up properly.
We looked it up online and it advised removing any additional peripherals (of which there were none).
Eventually, it did start up and played fine until we finished Gears of War!  icon_twisted

But still, it doesn't bode well for the future....he just bought the system (new) a month ago.  icon_rolleyes

Notes: System was horizontal and couldn't have possibly been more ventilated than it was.
E68 claims to be a voltage problem, although the exact same set-up was used as before (and after) without any problem. System was bought a month ago new, although I'm unaware of the manufacture date.

Some nice gear on here, here's mine.

Line 6 Flextone II HD. (google pic)

Marshall JCM 900 1960. (google pic)
Bought this thing 14 years ago new, not one single problem, recorded with it, tons of practicing, took it on tour and it still lives! A couple scuffs in the exterior, but that's it! Highly recommended.

Ibanez gTo, total bottom of the line 7 string, I just bought it as a back-up (i.e. the cheapest 7 string I could find, I think it was $320 cdn at the time...6-7 years ago). I now actually prefer it. Relatively fast neck, simplistic and to the point. Dropped an EMG 707 active in there and it made all the difference sound-wise.

Other stuff I own:
BC Rich Warlock 7 string
Degas nylon string....signed by the Honky Tonk Man! (yes, the wrestler)
half a drum set (long story...and no I don't play drums)

Stuff I own but will sell soon:
Digitech Artist 2120 (alot of people love this unit, but personally I think the Line 6 beats the crap out of it sound wise)
Marshall 9200 power amp (nice and loud, but unecessarily heavy (in weight) and adds to set up time, the Line 6 elminates both these devices, saves space and can be set up in 30 seconds)

Stuff I want:
I have interest in the newer Line 6 heads, I saw a band in the summer where one guitarist was using mine...and the other was using a newer version and well....you can guess which one sounded better...

Sadly, as a (I suppose now formerly) huge gaming fan, who used to buy consoles almost immediately after they were released (and quite often even have them pre-ordered) I don't have any next gen consoles.
For anyone else holding back (on any system), what are your reasons?
As for myself......

I don't have a 360 because of......
-Reliability (got burned on the X-Box 1 as well and had to pay to repair it out of my own pocket, so I'm not taking any chances). The new warranty is nice, but the inconvience and getting someone else's poorly-cared-for old console isn't something I particularly look forward to.
-Price (secondary). I'm tired of paying full price for consoles at the begining of their life span, only to have massive price cuts appear later. I was hoping for more than a $50 price cut.

I don't have a PS3 because of.....
-Price, I really couldn't care less about Blu-Ray, so any savings there on a cheap player, don't help. Again, the price drop was nice, but I don't really need any of that extra stuff, so it's still too expensive for me.
-Games (secondary), there's still not enough must-have games to make me really want the system. I'm pretty sure they're on the way though.
-Reliability (thirdary...tri...dary?....thirdly?....uh......my third reason) Haven't heard much gripes, but still the system hasn't even been out for a year yet, so there's still the possibility. With my Ps2 breaking down after 6 months of purchase....and again myself having to pay over $100 to repair it,didn't sit too well with me. Again, the new 1-year warranty is a nice change, but still for that cost, I'm going to be cautious.

I don't have a Nintendo Wii because of...
-Games, besides Zelda, there's nothing I want on the system. I want more M-rated games...or hell, just more games I want to play! The new Resident Evil and maybe even Manhunt will be a good start, but I'm not seeing much else I'd want.

63  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Favorite Controller Poll on: July 16, 2007, 01:26:01 PM
Madcatz for the original X-Box!

These things were smaller than the big controllers, came out before the s-type, felt and responded amazing and were significantly cheaper than the MS ones! I ended up buying several of these.  thumbsup

Later versions had buttons that lit up (and stayed that way while the console was turned on), making it easy to show someone how you're performing a move (since the projector works better in the dark) and also making it really easy to figure out which controller is plugged in.

Still using them to this day and no complaints whatsoever, except for the fact that I'm probably coming off like a Madcatz salesman or something.

I hope you're right, but it does seem odd, I'm not saying don't have Live enabled games, but why break it down to only 1 per screen if you can already have 4? Almost seems like more work that way.

A neighbour showed me that despite the seemingly uselessness of of the bosses weapons you acquire when you use them on common foes...they actually work quite good on other bosses. I kept trying to kill all of them with the default blaster up until then!  retard icon_lol

Ninja Gaiden...yeah, that was difficult...damn you Malice Four!

Solomons Key, I don't think I ever figured out all of those rooms, too bad I didn't have a stick that could break or build blocks like that in real life though.

Breakthru...also difficult...I don't think I got to the end of that one either.

Rambo..I remember something about an attacking helicopter...and the game sucking.
I'm pretty sure I beat the helicopter, but I can't remember if that was the end of the game or not.
I probably just remember it as difficult because it was difficult.....to keep playing.

Rygar...Difficult, but I finished the game somehow. For some reason I remember the game giving me the chills, I can't remember if it was the music, those gross rolling bugs or the overall darkness of alot of the game, but I don't want to go back to find out.  icon_redface
70  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Quick question about Crackdown's coop on: March 22, 2007, 08:21:58 PM
When I'm referring to 4 player-per-screen Lan(system Link), I'm talking about how many games suddenly could only handle 1 player per screen the second you hook up the system link a while after Live came out....despite the fact that they were able to have 4 players on one screen before the system link gets connected. A glut of games suffered from this sudden affliction which made 16 player parties a thing of the past at my house, since I don't have 16 tvs. This problem has since travelled over to the 360, as apparently COD2 does the same thing, and probably alot of other games too.

Seems a little fishy to me.
 Roll Eyes

So, what I'm saying is this. Right now, my favourite style of games are co-op...offline.
I'm just hoping Crackdown doesn't set a precedent and I don't have another favourite game mode of mine killed off in favour of X-Box live.

71  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Quick question about Crackdown's coop on: March 21, 2007, 01:30:11 AM
I don't believe that.
Well, I believe to a degree it's a choice, but they're encouraged/discouraged to go a certain way.
Why else would developers make games that hold 4 players per screen...and then as soon as you hook up system link they can only support 1?

I do know for certain that a developer was told to keep headset useage out of a Lan game (not exactly sure why...) So, this isn't much of a stretch.

I tried to find a link for the interview but failed (possibly it was in EGM, not sure).
I really can't remember who it was, if anyone can provide any clues I'd appreciate the help.

No 360 for me if this type of crap becomes consistent in co-op games.

Also, noting the small attention to detail mentioned in the beginning of the review, is something most reviewers don't do. After first running into Jaws head on and getting thoroughly thrashed, I figured it would be a good idea to see if there were any other ways of finishing him off. So, I snuck around to enter the room from the reverse side (where his back was turned). It worked, I was about 8-10 feet behind him and he didn't notice! Ok...what now...I've got 2 grenades! So long, jerk! I lob my two grenades in rapid succession and at least one of them hits him right in the back, he flinches and makes a noise like a deep-sounding 'huh?!'....I don't stick around long enough to see where the other one went, but since I didn't change my angle as I threw them, I'm assuming they both hit him in the back. I haul ass out of there for first and foremost the fear of Jaws himself, and secondly the explosion that's sure to hurt if I stick around.

I hear the explosion go off.......and I notice I'm not being chased. Ha! Outsmarted the big goof!
So, I head back to the room to check out the damage, it's still got alot of smoke in it and....wait...wha...
THAT'S JAWS STILL STANDING THERE LIKE NOTHING EVEN HAPPENED!

At that moment I knew I was in for one hell of a fight.

For better or worse, I think Q-Bert's the only classic popular video game mascot that hasn't gotten a re-make.
I mean, think of the early arcade hits....Donkey Kong, Pac-man, Frogger, Mario, heck even Pitfall Harry got a remake (not sure if that was an arcade game though).

I remember at one point Q-Bert even had his own cartoon show, so it's not like he was any less popular.
Just an observation.
