1  Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Re: Charlton Heston's dead. Who's going to pry the gun? on: April 07, 2008, 12:36:42 AM
This is the statement he's saying he'd agree with:

"So that this nation may long endure, I urge you to follow in the hallowed footsteps of the great disobediences of history that freed exiles, founded religions, defeated tyrants, and yes, in the hands of an aroused rabble in arms and a few great men, by God's grace, built this country."

Nowhere in it does he say Dr. King advocates his stance on gun ownership.
2  Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Re: Charlton Heston's dead. Who's going to pry the gun? on: April 07, 2008, 12:02:03 AM
Actually, I think it displayed how hypocritical political correctness can be, especially when it comes to falsely labeling people who disagree with them...despite past whatever past experiences they might have had that clearly show the opposite. He encourages people to voice their opinions, even if they're different from the majority and face being shunned.

They guy even marched with King back when it wasn't a very acceptable thing and no doubt took some flak for it back then. I'd say he has the right to invoke his name every once in a while.

Depends. Sometimes I'll try to make the biggest/coolest/smallest/dorkiest person possible. So, I guess someone that stands out. Other times I'll just make them look like me or one of my friends....or someone famous/infamous.

I guess I have video game multiple personality disorder.  icon_lol

The red light camera is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are ticketed.

I don't think he's against reducing red light running, just against the cameras. (I could be wrong though)

Video cameras are all over the place now, (for better or worse), but it is kind of creepy when you think about it.  paranoid

We used to have speed cameras on our highways here in Ontario.

The limit is 100 km per hour and the cameras were set to go off if you exceeded 120 km.
After a while people started figuring out that a van at the side of the road meant a possible radar camera and slamming on the brakes when they saw one, so less tickets were given out....then they reduced the camera setting to 108 km per hour and pissed off pretty much everyone!
 Roll Eyes

A provincial election was coming up and the opposition pledged to get rid of the cameras.
They won.
And in a rare case of politicians telling the truth, they kept their promise!
No more speed cameras.  icon_biggrin

Bah! My cell phone receives it's time changes through my phone company itself. Last year I didn't know that. I couldn't figure out a way to change it myself so I set the alarm in it to account for it. Some time during the morning, it switched over automatically by receiving a signal from a tower or something, I guess. And of course my alarm was off by an hour.

This year it STILL hasn't updated. I know my way around the phone relatively well by now and there's no way to change the time yourself.  mad

Have you power cycled your phone?  That should trigger the update for sure.

I just did.....and it worked!  icon_twisted

Lego Star Wars is fun, and Ghost Recon 2 was alot of fun co-op. Gears of War is really good as well.

I think the Blazing Angels games offered co-op play, but I never played them. Crackdown offered it and while I enjoyed the game I never got the chance to team up with anyone.

I'll second the Ghost Recon and especially Gears of War.

Crackdown is only co-op if you have 2 systems, 2 copies of the game and 2 tvs. So it's probably useless for your situation.

This doesn't seem to be open to Canadians.  icon_mad

I love EGM, but I can't justify paying an extra $2 an issue when our dollar is at par.
Btw EGM, removing the U.S. price from the barcode a couple months back didn't make us magically forget that we're getting screwed.   icon_lol

Ok, enough of that. I do remember finding a link for a subscription for EGM where it worked out to a dollar an issue or something and was open to Canadians....I meant to sign up and kept it on my compy for a while....until IE crashed and I lost it (have since smartened up and moved to Firefox). Anyway, if anyone knows where that link is, I'd really appreciate it.  thumbsup
26  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Facebreaker - (EA) Boxing Game on: February 10, 2008, 08:02:49 PM
Well yeah, Ready to Rumble and....whatever that other cartoon boxer was called had a similar look, but I'm meaning more gameplay-wise. Like how in Punch-Out you had to find your opponents weakness, weather it was a wink, a flash to warn you right before a super punch and stuff like that. I loved figuring those out.

Not saying this is definitely like that....the trailer doesn't show any gameplay, I'm just hoping.

Difficult choice.

Most systems have something that makes me think back postively about them.

I'd say NES or SNES had the most magic for me.

N64 4 player games were great with friends and X-box's 16 player LAN parties were the pinnacle of video game awesomeness! (yes, it's a word!..maybe)

Damn, I'm jealous. I've always wanted to go to Japan but, I'll finally be going there next year (yeah, I like to plan in advance) and I'm trying to figure out how much food/alcohol will cost me for two weeks. I realize that could vary alot on eating and drinking habits though. So...let's make this a bit easier, how much roughly for a beer at a bar? How much for a meal at a fast food place? Prices in US (or Canadian) dollars if possible. Arigato.

Overheard at Toys R us: "This one says E for everyone. What does that mean?"  icon_lol

I immediately started snickering to myself after hearing that, but a couple days later I was talking to my sister and she seemed confused about some of the ratings as well.

I know they seem obvious to us, I guess for someone seeing it for the first time, it's not as obvious as it seems.
For instance, on the front of a box, it will just have a big 'T', a smaller 'Teen' above it and 'content rated by the ESRB' even smaller below it. There's a bit more information on the back, i.e., violence, blood, etc., but not everyone's going to read the entire box (although, they should). I say they should have right on the front of the box 'Not suitable for children under the age of...) in large enough letters that even those parents that require reading glasses can see without too much trouble.

It's really a shame they couldn't work with the....whoever the movie ratings people are to be able to use the exact same ratings system that's pretty much universally understood by everyone, damn red tape.

Yeah, you don't necessarily have to have a current console.
Due to issues of lack of games, reliability and price, I still don't have ANY of the new consoles and I'm having a blast with dirt cheap games for my X-box 1! Just go into any Eb Games (under normal circumstances, I wouldn't condone that  icon_lol ) and you'll find a TON of used X-Box games! I got Silent Hill 4 for $3!

Blockbuster also has loads, plus some new ones for good prices as well.

None of the above.  tear

None of the new systems each has a reason why I won't buy them yet.
In the meantime, I'm actually having alot of fun picking up dirt cheap X-Box 1 titles!

2 weeks ago I ended up picking up 11 games for about $90! (some were used, but nonetheless!)
Far Cry Instincts Evolution for only $10 brand new!

Either way, that should keep me busy for a while.
