Pretty sure my gf is buying me plane tickets to LA the weekend WSU plays the Bruins next year.  I'm pretty excited about that!  It's my quest to see the Cougs play at every Pac-10(12) stadium.  Yay!

That is awesome, WinoMcCougarstein. I love the use of water in and around your base.

I do think you need a bit of rock down in your main pool though to drown those annoying animals that keep jumping into your whirlpool though. biggrin

So... where does the door to hell go? Or do?

And another new feature - a music player (seriously). Go craft the design for a storage container (8 pieces of wood), but put a diamond in the middle. And forum posts on the main site (which is overloaded) state that music CDs now drop in chests. Very cool.

The door just goes to stairs that spiral down to lava.  It just needed a creative name, helps with the real estate value.

Alright, here are my creations in my survival mode so far.  A few large water features, a 4 story base, a basement where the tallest water fountain drains, a doorway to hell and a tunnel to the nearby island.  I love this game.

18  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Madden 2011 Demo on: July 28, 2010, 11:56:51 PM
The demo feels like a step back compared to NCAA 11.  I think this is the first time I will probably end up playing the NCAA game more than Madden.  One thing that really needs to be fixed in both games is the tackling though.  I made this short clip from the Madden demo... Looks terrible.  I mean, 12 players ended up on the ground.  Horrible.  Backbreaker may be an overall shitty game, but they sure showed gang tackling is very possible.

Or was it that P!nk herself wrote each of those?

This game is so damn good.  I am half tempted to call it the best football game I have ever played.  Just lost an awesome game on Live.  I was playing as WSU and lost to BYU 21-14.  I felt overmatched through most of the game but capatilized on the mistakes made by the other player. A really fun online experience.  Go buy this game!
23  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / NCAA Football 2011 Impressions [Xbox360/PS3] on: July 15, 2010, 01:30:28 AM
Alright sports gamers, I've completed two full games of NCAA 11 on the xbox360 and I'm ready to drop some impressions for you.

Gameplay:  This is the BEST playing version of NCAA to date.  However, you don't like Madden or NCAA from the past 2-3 years this game probably won't change your mind.  At it's core it's very similar to the previous few years but there have been enough tweaks and changes made to elevate this game to a new level.  First off, locomotion.  This gives the game a much better feel physically.  You can really feel a difference when running the ball in this game compared to last year and it's definitely a welcomed changed.  The way your ballcarrier runs and reacts to other players and performs special actions such as spin moves feels much more authentic and accurate.  There is nothing more fun that juking a defender in the open field.  Unfortunately, since I was playing as the C+ ranked Cougars of Washington State I didn't get a lot of opportunities to pull off the jukes but it looked really awesome when the other team did it to me.  The second big change I noticed is how the line reacts to defenders.  It's improved but still not perfect.  I saw a lot less missed assignments and a lot fewer lineman just standing there while the defenders ran past them.  The lead blockers also did a much better job of blocking their lead target and then moving down to the next level to block another defender.  Following the lead blocker is a lot more fun now and actually works.  I thing I noticed on defense that I didn't like was the amount of dropped interceptions.  Seems like I had 5+ balls that hit the defender square in the hands just to be dropped to the turf.  Hopefully EA patches the defenders catching skills so I don't get away with throwing into double coverage as often.

Graphics:  The graphics are improved but are very familiar if you've played NCAA in the past couple years.  The lighting has been worked on and due to the locomotion feature the running and player actions look better.  One thing EA needs to work on is gang tackling.  After playing Backbreaker it's clear that tackling can be handled much better than it is currently in both Madden and NCAA.  However, everything else in NCAA absolutely destroys Backbreaker.

Sound:  I don't know when Corso got dropped from the booth because I haven't purchased NCAA in the past 3 or so years but it's a welcomed change. I really cannot stand that guy.  Overall, the commentary is what I would call decent.  I would love for the announce team to mention more school specific facts and maybe talk about past players that have since moved on to the NFL.  Not sure if that's possible but would be awesome to hear them say something like, "This sophmore quarterback has to step in and fill the shoes of Tim Tebow who now plays for the Broncos on Sunday, it's a lot to live up to!"  Also, I would really like to hear more school specific chants/cheers/songs from the band.

Overall, I'm having a blast with this game so far.  It's not perfect, but let's face it, no sports game ever will be.  If you take the game for what it is you will have a great time playing it.  If you search for bugs and glitches and nitpick the game to death it will certainly hamper your enjoyment.  I give it a solid 9.0 at this point.

And lildrgn, this is for you:

Didn't get a chance to try.  Every Gamestop within 50 miles is sold out and are saying they won't have more until mid-late July.  I got impatient.  I'll try and trade it in for regular credit though.  What do they give for a 360 these days?  $60?

how's the iphone 4 battery holding up for the rest of you when you're connected to a wifi network?  I'm pretty sure I had it charged to 100% last night but when I woke up this morning it was at 72% and it wasn't being used.  the only thing I can think of that might have caused it was I had wi fi turned on (it was on my wi fi network so it shouldn't have been trying to find/connect to new ones).  I turned it off, charged it and it's currently still sitting at 100% after a few hours.

The battery is better but far from great.  I was car shopping with my gf yesterday and put heavy use into the phone browsing the internet and comparing prices and reading reviews. I also streamed a bit of the World Cup game via the Justin.tv app and I still had battery life left when I got home around 10pm.  So much improved but I felt like I did have to conserve the battery the last couple hours of shopping or I would have been able to drain it all the way.

Packed up the old xbox and trading it all in for the new slim 'box.  Had to use USB storage to backup all of my game data, but I can't wait to test drive the new 360 tomorrow.

I just red ringed and I'm thinking about going slim.  How hard is it to transfer everything using USB storage?

it was quite painless, but then again I only had about 4 gigs of stuff to move.

Just did it here.  Moved about 6.5gb of stuff.  It is really easy.  My Xbox only flashes the red rings sometimes when I turn it on so I'm just going to trade it in at Gamestop for the $100 toward a Slim.

just cross your fingers it doesn't RRoD when they test it.

Exactly.  If it does I'll just play dumb and say it hasn't happened before and I'll take it home and send it to MS for repairs.

I haven't noticed the issued yet, but then again, I rarely make phone calls sooooo.  But, when surfing the net I often times have the phone in my left palm and navigate with my right hand and I haven't seen the bars fluctuate based on where I hold the phone.  Speaking of the phone, I went from the 3g to this and I'm blown away by how much faster everything is now.  I LOVE this thing.

You're not the only one who thought that.  I bought Infamous when it came out, and I just couldn't get into it.  I thought all the 'main' characters were really lame, and I didn't like the lead character at all.

Did you play as evil?  The game is 100x more fun as evil than it is good.

Yes, I am playing as evil.  It doesn't really seem to have much bearing yet.  The moral decisions are lame so far.

Bulletstorm looks fun, Gears 3 and Halo Reach both looked great.  Especially the flying part of Reach.  Killzone 3 looks awesome.  NBA Jam looks like a ton of fun.  The new Zelda looks interesting....  However, I was most impressed by 2 things.

1.  3DS.  The hardware sounds amazing and the software announced for is equally if not more amazing. 3D Ocarina of time and a 3D Mario Kart is enough for me to buy this thing day 1.  Not that there was any question of that in the first place.
2.  MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!!!  Holy shit, the re-boot looks AWESOME!!!!

Ocarina of Time in 3d?  New Mario Kart?  You know a new Mario game isn't far behind....

That said, I have NEVER seen so much positive buzz for a piece of hardware at E3.  I seriously cannot wait for this little device.  I'll be buying two on day 1 for my gf and myself.  CAN'T WAIT!
