I know this thread is dead, but instead of starting a new one I figured I'd post here.

I just got around to installing the tslrcm 1.7 and the widescreen mod on KOTOR 2.  Man, the changes are subtle (and to be honest I don't remember much from the first time I played it 5 years ago) buuuuut now it actually feels like a story.  The end makes sense.  There's a whole ending with Kreia explaning everything.

It feels cleaner.  I will say, the trayus academy still feels empty and pointless (there's no real content except to kill sith) - but the mod creators aren't miracle workers.  It's worth playing with this.  I want to play as Dark Side now.. but don't feel like rocking another 30-40 hours on it.  I will in a few weeks probably.

I still feel that this game so much more potential than was realized but the narrative is a huge improvement now.

Good to know, I bought the game years ago but never installed it due to all the bad press at the time then kind of forgot about it.
Looks like now is the time to give it a go with the 1.7 fan patch.

Can't you always sell Collector's Editions on eBay a year later for twice what you paid for them when it comes to Blizzard games? I don't have the money to spend on it, and I have no interest in buying Diablo 3 in any case, but I probably would otherwise for that reason alone.

When WoW first came out I bought the Collectors Edition then received another one for Christmas which I ended up selling on eBay for just under $300.00, so that worked out nicely.

I'm confused with the campaign.  I did the first 2 tutorial campaign with Slava.  But what next?  It seems to stop there.  Do I have to play the next faction to continue the story?

Really confusing, this is the recommend order from one of the developers on the Ubisoft forums. To really follow the story you have to play each faction a la carte basically. Why they laid it out like this I don't get.

"For those interested, here is the true chronology I got from Marzhin(developer):"

- Heart of Nightmares (Collectors' edition map)
- Prologue 1
- Prologue 2
- Stronghold 1
- Sanctuary 1
- Inferno 1
- Haven 1
- Necropolis 1
- Stronghold 2
- Sanctuary 2
- Haven 2
- Necropolis 2
- Sanctuary 3
- Stronghold 3
- Inferno 2
- Necropolis 3
- Inferno 3
- Sanctuary 4
- Stronghold 4
- Haven 3
- Necropolis 4
- Haven 4

Yeah, I stayed far away from this after having purchased D3: Renaissance.  It had beautiful unit designs, that oil painting type effect for the graphics engine that was nice...but terribly slooooooow gameplay.  Missions took forever to play through, and were comprised of killing the same units dozens of times over and over again.  Also had the campaign missions...and then one skirmish map at release, and then wasn't supported AT ALL after that.  As much as I LOVED d2, I kinda figured that I'm done with the series as D3:Ren was sooooo bad.

It's funny you should mention a painting because as beautiful as the graphics were the gameplay in D3: Renaissance was like watching paint dry, dull and monotonous. I love Disciples 2 also, that and how good the screenshots looked conned me into buying it last year.
I know one person who has bought Resurrection and he said it was pretty much more of the same, but this time you play the undead campaign(only)and then one skirmish map.

September 3, 2011 marks the one year anniversary of the death of our co-worker and friend Brian Wood.  To mark this somber occasion Relic Entertainment is offering a number of items for auction on e-bay to raise money to place a memorial bench for Brian in North Vancouver, where his wife and 9 month old daughter live.  We would greatly appreciate your help in our fundraising efforts.  Any money raised over and above the cost of the memorial will go to the Brian Wood Memorial Trust which was started to help Brianís wife and baby: http://www.brianwoodmemorialtrust.com/

So even if you can't afford one of the auctioned items, you can still donate to help his family.

Well tried the demo and found that this is the first game I haven't been able to run on my two year old computer frown , it requires an ATI 3870 and I only have a 3850 so the graphics are corrupted when I start the game even at the lowest settings even though everything else exceeds the min requirements.

Definitely mixed opinions on this game, demo's usually end up ruining games for me, but still tempted to give it a try.

If nothing else it reminded me I bought Dungeon Siege II Deluxe edition at Walmart on a old stock sale, hadn't installed it, doing that now.
15  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Sacred 2: Ice & Blood on: June 16, 2011, 03:45:31 PM
An FYI for anyone like me who really enjoyed the start of Sacred 2 but decided to wait for the expansion that never came to really get into it, I decided to pick up Ice & Blood from the UK site Deep Silver.

I have the US D2D version, but with the tips on how to get Sacred 2 (US) working with Ice and Blood (UK)-http://forum.sacred2.com/showthread.php?t=67312- it works fine, playing the Dragon Mage now and enjoying that class a lot. The game also plays a lot smoother now and no crashes after several hours of playing.

The camera has a lot more control settings to get it just right, so not fighting that anymore. I like the Carrier Imp mule you get right away, very handy. Haven't been to any of the new areas yet so can't comment on those and I'm sure there's a bunch of other new things I haven't seen yet.

Overall definitely worth the bit of a hassle it took to get it and makes S2 a better game for sure .
This should keep me going now till Diablo 3 hits(if released this year Roll Eyes).

I just bought a Logitech wireless laser mouse after my G5 died after a few years of excellent service.
It's my first wireless and so far I haven't noticed a real difference in performance, seems to track just fine in all the games I've tried with no misses or skipping.

It's a 2 battery mouse which claims to give me one to two years before running out under normal use.
So far so good.

Spellforce 2 is one of my top ten games actually.

Been playing it on and off for a long time. For me it's a real good blend of RPG, RTS and Action, so while it's not the best out there in any of those single styles I think they have blended them together better than any similar game I've played in this genre.

Also think the graphics still hold up today fairly well. The voice acting is the weakest link IMO but it's passable.
For some of the dirt cheap prices I've seen SF2 going for I don't think you can go wrong.

But asking someone to do a sequel within, ya know, 10 years of the previous game is clearly too much to ask!  smirk

LOL, we are about the same age Blackjack and I also have my worries. I know I will still have the enthusiasm but will I still have the reflexes/durability, not so sure, probably be forced to only play singleplayer because of it.

Why SP only?  I would think in a co-operative game, MP would be that much more friendly... and certainly there will be plenty of friends here to play with.

My biggest concern, and I'm only half joking, is that the Apocalypse or End of Days will occur before I get to play D3.  That would really suck.

I was thinking SP only to avoid public humiliation, but your right, with some understanding friends in a co-op game it might be an easier journey.

I tried to google it, but I wasn't sure if I was being directed to the right places (some listed 2.0, others listed 3.2, but then said that required 2.0 + 3.0beta + patch 1.4 first).

I was wondering if you had a source where you got Brave New World in its entirety.

I think I've got it figured out now.

I already had the unofficial AoW 1.4 patch installed. Now, I'm downloading the 318mb 2.0 BNW, then I'll install 3.0 and 3.2 on top of that one.

I'm torn.

HoMM III remains one of my all-time favorites, while HoMM IV broke my gaming heart.

I enjoyed HoMM V, but felt like I was fighting the 3D terrain as much as the mobs.

If HoMM VI is good (and game snippets in that video looked pretty good), I will be ecstatic, but I'm keeping my hopes subdued.

That sums it up for me as well.

That camera in HoMM V just burnt me out + the horrible campaign cut scenes and overall dullness of the plot prevented me from ever coming close to finishing V.

I actually liked HoMM IV better than V strictly for the campaigns in the game, the stories were way more interesting and the good use of scripted events made up for the brain dead AI that was in the rest of the game.

I just bought Age of Wonders Shadow Magic from GOG to play the Brave New World mod that more than a few people I know have highly recommended to me, saying it did for AoW:SM what Kael's Fall from Heaven mod did for Civ 4, and I'd have to agree, this has hooked me in, very well done, makes the game new again for me.
Nice to have something to play in this genre(that isn't HoMM) after Elemental's huge let down.
