I haven't been this giddy over a game in a LONG time. It's all I think about.. Today is my anniversary and I'm trying to think of what to cook for dinner. Something that makes her sleepy...so I can play more! Same thing here! I blew off meeting friends the other night to play, and I love when my wife went out with her friends so I didn't feel bad hiding in the office playing. Today I stayed home sick from work and was excited! I feel like crap, but I managed a few hours of play time. In all honesty I'm still sick as shit and will most likely stay home again tomorrow; that's how bad I truly feel and I'm damn excited to stay home and play! Happy Anniversary by the way!

This game is becoming one of my all time favorites. I never really liked these type games too much. Enjoyed Diablo II, beat it once but never got through the expansion. Never beat the original Diablo, or any clones such as Titan Quest, etc. But this one I have a Barb and DH going - the Barb in the middle of Act II, the DH in Act I. Couldn't decide if I liked sharing the stash, but I love it now. I have my barb always thinking of his little DH sister - he saves any DH loot just for her.
Few observations: -No matter what dungeon it is, no matter which character I'm using, I always run into the stairs down or exit crystal first which means backtracking to complete the dungeon. Every time! I will swerve this way and that through corridors desperately trying to avoid the exit until I finish the level, but EVERY TIME I run into the exit! Drives me crazy.
-Rapid Arrow for DH is probably the best invention since the wheel. I love letting loose and shooting like Jesse Ventura in Predator with the mini-gun. Set some caltrops down first and it's like shooting fish in a barrel. I tried the invisibility ability, but doesn't hold a candle to caltrops. MY DH is only lvl 9 or 10.
-Whirlwind for Barb is a close second for best invention. Has made the game extremely enjoyable!
-The scoundrel is my favorite supporting actor in games of all time (off the top of my head). His short quotes have more character and depth than supporting actors in other games who have hours of dialogue. Then talking with him about his background floors me. Great voice-over.
-Sold something in the auction. Got about 500 gold. Pretty cool. I'm new to anything like this - never even knew other games had auction houses, so I'm very much like a tourist in NYC staring at all the tall buildings. Amazed at the asking prices for some items worth less than my item but asking for thousands more.
-I refuse to look at skills I am not eligible for until it becomes active when I level. The extreme joy or disappointment adds a lot to my enjoyment.
-I can't wait to read the art book and watch the dvd, and even crack open the strategy guide - but I'm waiting to win the game once beforehand.
-Blizzard cannot make an expansion fast enough!

Love the art style. Love the little things like a small cave-in on a wall of tombs; the dirt pours out in a tiny avalanche and suddenly a zombie crawls out...
Yet I feel like it's a little too streamlined. The levelng up feels like a straight line even with a few branching choices. It doesn't emit fear like Diablo II did - I was nervous to leave the first little village and actually used health vials. Here, I don't think I was ever at risk and I don't know why I even have health vials this time.
Also, am I missing the run key somewhere? I didn't see it in options.
Where are the Town Portal scrolls? I just made it to the cemetary and am getting loaded with loot, but there is no easy way of getting back to town quickly, so far. I'm a barbarian.
And why is Cain silent when I talk to him? Doesn't he want me to stay for a while anymore?
The game is fun and surely worthy of the Diablo name. Already had me saying -just five more minutes- for the last two hours... Good thing there is the option to have a clock displayed on the hud!

Got it! There were a few people waiting for the store to open, but no one who looked like they would know "Diablo" was a game. I wound up waiting with two other people for the guy to bring the boxes out. We all happily grabbed the CE box and also the CE guide. Now I just have to wait until 5:00pm to even open the boxes!
So there might be hope for you if you want to grab the CE! Beautiful, heavy box! And the CE strat guide looks very nice, especially the metal bookmark.

Anyone want a CE sans art book?
I've realized that I really just want the art book, they don't get reprinted, trying to buy it separately costs more than a CE itself.
I might take you up on this offer if my trip to Best Buy falls through. I'm heading there for 10am opening. As a grown man, I do feel a little silly waiting for the doors to open, possibly with a group of kids. So I might get there for 10:05....

What do you guys think are the chances that I'll be able to land the CE at best buy tomorrow?
They're doing midnight release events, aren't they? If so, I think you'll be out of luck if you're not there at midnight. Maybe some other big box store that doesn't do midnight? Check the website - only certain locations are doing the midnight thing. I called my local BB and they said they will be putting 10 - 15 CEs on the shelves at opening time. So I'm hopefully flying out of work to grab one at 10am! And the CE strat guide too (for the bookmark and art extras... ) .

For those interested, the strat guide is on the shelves at Best Buy. The CE guide has a metallic bookmark, and supposed to be other good extras. On sale for $26 or so. No I don't work for Best Buy!

By the time I finally came across the CE contents and developed an interest, it was too late to preorder. I've been under a rock for a while, at least for Diablo.

Gamestop near me is sold out on CEs. They are opening at midnight Monday too, so I doubt there would have been any copies anyway. If Bestbuy doesn't do a midnight opening there could be a good chance of having the CE in stock. There is also a Microcenter near where I work, and I wouldn't be too surprised if they have a CE in stock.
Side note: The local Gamestop near me sold out of Starcraft II CEs, and a few months later I was able to snag one cheaper than original asking price. I've also seen copies of WoW CEs lingering at Bestbuy months after they were released. Arguably, Diablo 3 is a bigger title...

Now that I finally own a New IPad, I just wanted Vinda-Lou to know he's missing out on everything! I think the most basic nice thing is now, most mornings, I just use my iPad to do basic surfing and emailing. Most mornings and evenings I don't even boot my PC at all except to play a game. Which is fine. I've spent way too much of my life anchored to a desk. Apps like Flipboard have actually gotten me sort of excited about reading news again. Lots of games I just found ok on my Touch I enjoy much more on the bigger screen. Of course it's am amazing photo album/frame and you can find an app firer most anything etc etc. But I think even if you use it for mundane stuff, it's just more fun than traditional desktops and at least for me, starts to feel second-nature. Yikes! I went out and got the iPad 3 16gb! WTF am I doing? Well at least one of the few items I put on eBay earlier has an offer! I also picked up the Apple Smart Cover. Got it all from Radio Shack - which is selling all iPad accessories with 10% discount today (don't know if it's only with the purchase of an iPad or not). Man, the manager was pushy - trying to get me to buy tons of other things such as the laminate screen protector for $30! I skipped on the Apple Care for $99.00 and she said today is the only day I could buy it. Hope I made the right decision!
So, I'm off to open the box and see what it's like. I also hope all my itunes apps for my old ipod touch transfer over to this!
Anyone interested in swapping $25 Amazon credit for $25 itunes credit?
I couldn't agree more, my brother! Loving the iPad! I've read more (comics ) lately than I have in the last few years combined!

I'm hoping to stroll into a Best Buy and grab a CE on release day. I've managed to do that for many games in the past, including games that were sold-out at various online retailers.

Isn't there/ wasn't there an active mod community? Maybe some mods are similar to your ideas.
I need to check the prices for this game and check it out.

I have $30 ($10 x 3) in Regal Cinema gift cards and $25 for Fandango. There are no convenient theaters near me that take these, so I am trying to sell them. I can give you the codes, or send the physical cards.
I am asking for about $35 in iTunes or Steam credit, but open to ideas (possibly PC games).
So PM me and basically get $20 free towards movies!

My concern about deleting all mods and adding them back one by one is losing all the good equipment made from weapon add ons, etc. I will delete going backwards if possible - delete one, try the game, then delete the next. I think the trouble started once Steam started with their HD download and their own modding system, but I could be wrong.
I'm usually so much better at modding games! Since Morrowind, up through the new Fallout games I've stumbled but never fallen like this!

Please help!
Over the last few months I've played Skyrim for dozens of hours while modding it as I went along. It became addicting. Now every time I load up the game it crashes instantly! I feel like Joan Rivers getting plastic surgery - I kept going until it became scary and now I overdid it! I loaded up most mods from Skyrim Nexus using their mod manager to download and install the mods. I updated almost all of them.
So how do I get the game playable again without having to start over? I have not finished any story line yet, but I would hate to replay everything by starting over. I tried deleting the most recently added mods, but still nothing. Have any of you gotten stuck in a similar situation - over modding a game until it doesn't work? Either way, please advise or at least point me in the right direction. (I'm screwed, aren't I...)

You’ll Be Able To Play Baldur’s Gate On Your iPad This Summer
PC role-playing game Baldur's Gate will soon be living in a post-PC world. The beloved classic will be out for iPad this summer, developer Overhaul Games said today.
It will also feature new content (!) and a new party member (!!!).
Overhaul writes in a press release:
Running on an upgraded and improved version of the Infinity Engine, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition™ will include the entire Baldur's Gate adventure, the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion pack, and never before seen content including a new adventure and new party member.
Miniature giant space tablets! This can't happen soon enough! Hopefully this means Planescape, Icewind Dale, BG II, etc. follow soon after!

Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / iTunes in-App purchases..?
|
on: March 18, 2012, 04:31:02 PM
|
|
It's been a long time since I've checked out the App store on iTunes, but it seems that the majority of games and apps now "feature" in-app purchases. Is this the new Horse Armor? Or have these things been around so long everyone is over it (or never made a big deal)? I see that some games are free but then have in-app purchases, too. Do you made in-app purchases? Am I the only one who thinks it's a bit of a rip off?
(Disclaimer: I might be completely wrong about this, but the iTunes listings are not detailed enough to know.)
The in-app purchases that are listed on the left are cut off and do not offer much information. I'm sure in-game it makes more sense and has more details, but I do not want to buy something to find out. So maybe they are useful or beneficial in that it helps support the developers - a good thing to be sure - or it is a way to rip off customers. The Dungeon Defenders app looks like you need to buy in-app upgrades or something similar to get the most enjoyment out of it. Am I wrong about these in-app purchases?

I was up to 2am playing Infinity Blade (or something)... This iPad is pretty cool! I'm going to explore, but what good "classic" PC games are out for the iPad? I know there are some adventure games - I was able to load up a ton of ipad games, including 7th Guest, on the iPad. I think Telltale has Sam & Max out. I'll head over to the correct section here and see, but I thought I'd throw this out here... I'm probably going to exchange the Apple cover with one that covers the back too. I also like the Gelaskins covers. As far as the screen protector, I've heard that the Zagg Invisibleshields stink due to the amazing difficulty putting them on - and then they are not so great anyway. This cover seems good, as does this one. For the case, this one is recommended, but this steampunk Gelaskin is nice. I've heard that many of the iPad2 cases do not work well with the new one; does anyone have recommendations or warnings for cases to avoid?

My district is considering adding iPad 2s to the budget in the future - possibly in the next couple of years. They try to stay current with technology (except OSes... we switched to Win XP pretty late though when we finally upgraded years ago. I forgot which college it was, but a student teacher in my school said that a college in NY(?) was giving an iPad to incoming freshmen! On a separate note, if I can get $100 more, I can afford the newest iPad. If I go for it, what would be the best choice: a) iPad 2 16gb new $400 b) iPad 2 32gb used $400 or so c) iPad 3 16gb new $500 I have my music on my phone and MBA, and I usually use Netflix for watching movies on either, so I don't know if I need 32gb, with the risk of buying a used iPad from eBay. rittchard, I wish I never read your post! I had pretty much convinced myself I don't need one up to that! There's always Apple refurb instead of used on eBay. Kinda sad they don't offer education discounts on the iPad... The iPad2 is getting tempting, but I already asked the wife and she said a resounding no. Good call on the refurb store! My wife knows I am a gadget nerd, and while I never actively wanted one until recently she knew I would want to get one sooner or later. But then she wanted an iPad too about a month ago, yet we cannot afford to buy one or two at the moment. So while I have sold a few of my possessions and raised the money to get one, I feel kinda bad that I might get one first. I offered to share it, but she thinks they are personal items like cell phones, and declined. Anyway, I would not have been "allowed" to buy one if I hadn't sold some things! Just need another hundred...

I have a desktop PC, a late 2010 Macbook Air (11 inch), and a Droid Thunderbolt phone. I was looking into getting an iPad 2 to use for work and play; I'm a 5th grade teacher and I thought the iPad 2 would come in handy as a grade-book, a camera for photographing student work and then showing it to parents during conferences, and other uses. But those reasons alone are not worth $400 or more. I watch movies and read Kindle books on my MBA or phone, and I have both for simpler games and music (although I recently got System Shock 2 running on my MBA!).
I figure between the phone and MBA I have everything covered that an iPad2 could do. What might I be missing out on? Is it worth it? (I just sold some guitar stuff on eBay, so I have about $400 to buy the 16gig new or 32gig used from eBay (would only buy one with the 1 year plan still available). Please share your thoughts!
