Have you tried to use other USB mouse or keyboard? Problem like this can also from faulty USB devices.

If you have another USB keyboard, then try to use that and see if the problem go away. If not then you try replace the USB mouse. If you still have problem after both keyboard are mouse are replaced then at least you know the problem is not with the devices but with the computer (either software or hardware).

To enjoy this game, it is important to relax and not force yourself to do stuffs just to earn enough bells for the next upgrade or project. Just have fun do anything you feel like doing at the moment. The only "chore" that I'm doing daily is to go to the store and buy the fortune cookies. Other activities are optional. I only dig up stuffs if I walk nearby and notice them. I only water flowers when I want to. I also bring my 3DS everywhere I go so that I can just play for a few minutes then put it back to sleep mode.

The other way to play is to set a goal for yourself then try to do it.

Example of goals you can set for yourself:
1. Collect a full set of furnitures for your home.
2. Rearrange your fruit trees so that you have separate sections of each type of fruits instead of just plant fruit randomly.
3. To own all kind of fruit trees in your town.
4. Decorate your town with flowers.
5. Have animal residents which each is a different animal type (no two bears for example). Or you can do the opposite and have all your animal residents from the same animal type.

Same here. I love it. It is a strange experience. It is not a standard western. It has funny moments but also serious and sad moments.

I think it is unfortunate for it to be released on the same week as Despicable Me 2. Also the critics probably started their reviews with a strong bias against it. They wanted to slam the movie so they're looking for fault instead of trying to enjoy it.

When I first setup my game I just chose to set the in game time to be 3 hours behind the real time.  I think you can tell your assistant she has the time wrong anytime you start the game as well.

I thought about doing this, but I was afraid it would consider that "cheating" and start calling me a time traveler or whatever.  I already had to correct the time once when I fixed my system region and wasn't sure if there was a limit to doing that.

On a different note, I built an expansion to my house with a 98,000 bell loan, but I can't seem to find out anything about that loan.  There is no option to pay it back in the ATM, even though I have more than enough to do so.   icon_confused

Change the time to advance for a few hours or back a few hours should not be a problem if you don't travel back before your last save time.
89  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: [3DS] Animal Crossing New Leaf on: June 25, 2013, 02:47:23 PM
If it is anything like the previous Animal Crossing DS game, you can change the Animal Crossing clock so that it is not the same as your local time. For people that play early in the morning, they can offset the in-game clock to be several hours ahead so that the store will be open earlier in the morning. The same for someone who play late at night, they can set the clock to be several hours behind.

I'm glad you're waiting on me - I have a ton of game impressions to post (most being multiplatform), so I'm going to keep this brief as I have a lot to do.

Online persistent worlds are, for the most part, static. They do not experience things like continental drift- what I mean is that nano-changes, not even at a micro level, happen. You ride a mount, the same mount, every time. There is no wear on them, there are no changes. You do not impact the world around you in any significant way. Instances are instances. You don't get to build and customize a house in a neighborhood. You are above the cellophane sheet, where the world you're in is below it.

The possibility of cloud gaming has the possibility to change that. Consider you litter items on the ground, and log out. Your stuff will disappear as the server farms aren't capable of keeping track of it. Perhaps an item was a seed - no tree will grow. Cloud computing can change that if there is a developer interested in doing so.

I don't think you understand Cloud Computing. There is no different between MMO servers and cloud computing servers. There is nothing that cloud computing servers can do that MMO servers can't.

Now if your version of cloud computing is the peer to peer cloud computing then it might be something that is different from current MMO games, but there is nothing that prevent MMO games from doing some peer to peer cloud computing using the game client application.

94  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Xbox One Discussion on: June 07, 2013, 02:03:29 AM

While the broadband connection doesn't have to be "persistent" to use the Xbox One, Microsoft says the console is "designed to verify if system, application, or game updates are needed and to see if you have acquired new games, or resold, traded in, or given your game to a friend." Your primary console can be offline for up to 24 hours without this online check-in, while a secondary console (i.e. one accessing your library/account at a friend's house) can only be offline for an hour at a time.

So the earlier article was right, Xbox One require online connection DRM for all games not just those that use cloud or need routine online update to function.

I wonder why Microsoft implement this very strict DRM. They can change it to once 7 days or once a month online check-in and it is still good enough to protect games from piracy or trading.

I think the entire bloated ass tax code should be completely redone actually.

I do not think our governments time should be spent questioning Tim Cook for the legal methods Apple has utilized to avoid taxes.

How about they actually grow some balls and revamp what is an overly complex tax code and couple that with significant spending cuts??

To revamp the tax code and close loopholes, they need to understand the problem first, right? To question Tim Cook and others about how corporate use loopholes to avoid taxes is a reasonable way to research the problem.
98  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Norton virus? on: May 13, 2013, 01:58:26 AM
I think best solution is to burn the bootable cdrom version or bootable usb drive version of anti virus using your PC or someone else. Both should work even if the virus disabled the usb drive because they're running before the virus is loaded.

Since we don't know the actual malware/virus, you probably need to download and burn several different antivirus for her to try.

100  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Norton virus? on: May 12, 2013, 09:12:42 AM
Tried Malwarebyte Anti Malware?

If that doesn't work or run, then another option is to get a bootable antivirus that can boot from cdrom or usb drive, then just boot from there and scan the system. The virus will not be able to block that because they're not loaded if you don't boot from the harddisk. She need to use an uninfected PC to download the antivirus and burn it to cdrom or install it on bootable usb disk.

There are several choices for that including a solution from Microsoft:

102  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: [iOS] Star Command finally releases! on: May 02, 2013, 08:04:57 AM
Bought it, first impression is that it is not as fun as FTL and too much micromanage and bad UI design.

For example:
To fire the gun, you need to wait for the gun to be ready then choose when to fire. Same with FTL, but with FTL, you can do autofire. For gun with ammo, you have an extra step that you need to build the ammo first and then collect it (you can stock up a limited amount of them before battle).
To dodge, you need ammo. Which you build by clicking on the room and choose to build ammo. (Two clicks to build, then you need to collect it, so 2 clicks wait then click again to collect). You also have to time your dodge since you have to dodge manually by clicking on the icon.
To fight the boarding troops, you need to micromanage and play like RTS game but you can only control one at a time.

I don't think this is FTL + Game Dev Story. It is more like FTL with some bad RTS element and some bad action element, with bad UI plus too much micromanage.

Avoid this title and wait for FTL for ios.

I know one game that doesn't work with Windows 8. The Sims Medieval with latest patch doesn't work because of the DRM. If you can find the patch that remove the DRM, it'll run without any problem on Windows 8.

Windows 8 seems to be more stable than Windows 7 for me.

Always on of the new xbox according to rumor is the same as the uplay back when they'll kick you out of your game if you lost connection to the server.

Steam's version is to verify when you start a game when in online mode and unless you're playing multiplayer game, it'll not bother you until you quit your game when it'll fail to sync to the cloud if you use cloud save. Steam version also allow you to switch to offline mode which doesn't require internet connection as long as you have played the game once in online mode.

I might not agree with them on most social issues, but at least my reps won't sell me out on pointless gun restrictions.

Do you support a handgun ban?

And I think the idea that "assault" weapons are the problem is ludicrous.  A lot more people die from handguns than long rifles or "assault" weapons.  And again, all of them are semi-auto, one bullet per trigger pull.  Extended magazines exist for pistols as well.

I'm willing to look at efforts to improve restrictions to licensing regulations.  But when the ratio is 17:1 of handgun to all rifle deaths, I see the focus on "assault" rifles as ludicrous.  I understand it's because of the visibility due to the recent shootings, but again, people in this country, and a lot of others, are more interested in doing something that has a high visibility than spending the time to do the right thing and actually have an impact.

So maybe instead of "assault" rifle ban, you need handgun ban. smile

had a couple of hours to kill this morning so I fired up Wings to continue the campaign.  got all set to play when the game started updating and then it said it needed to reconfigure the game files, which proceeded to kill about 90 minutes with what appeared to be a massive download frown

It's preloading about 6 gbs worth of HOTS data, even if you didn't pre-order it.  It did that for me too when I re-installed SC2 last week.  If you go into your SCII install directory\updates folder, there should be a folder with HotS somewhere.

they actually did this?  loaded an entire expansion on your pc even though you haven't bought it.  what a pain in the ass if all you want to do is go back and finish up the first one.  I was tempted to revisit it myself and finish up WoL, but between the huge patches which it will need to get plus this, I'm going to spend my gaming time 'playing something', not watching a download bar inch across the screen slowly.

I think you can start playing after "setup" phase is done and let the rest download in background.
113  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 13, 2013, 01:01:39 AM
I think the server serves two functions, for the city saves and the region saves (or snapshots). No complex computation on the server side.

To play, you need to be able to load your saves then you can lose connection to the server and you can continue play as long as you don't quit. And to be able to save your progress, you need to have access to the server when you quit the game.

So there is no real  gameplay reason why there is no offline mode.
114  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 06, 2013, 01:15:38 AM
Played about 2 hours by joining a public region in Oceanic server. Didn't get to try the region play because the other players are mostly inactive or maybe I just didn't know how to interact with them.

Can't offer any services to the "active" players because there is an abandoned city between my city and them.

Without the region play, this is just like a smaller Simcity 4 where you have to build everything that your city need. I think it'll be more fun if a bunch of us get together and split role so that we each start a city that focus on something that the other cities need.
