Your email to Bill Harris introduces the site a lot better than your post here. Thanks, I sent Ron Burke a similar message as well a few days ago but have not heard back yet. It's a great concept. I frequent the "Help & Advice" subforum at Penny Arcade, and while the posts asking for help run a wide gamut of topics, almost every other week there's a new person posting with questions on how to make a game or how to enter the industry. I'll start sending them your way. Sweet, thank you!

That sounds neat - any impressions
Well, it's a free to play browser based game - so you can hop right in within seconds to check it out. I can say this - I've played this more than any other free game I've tried. Probably @ around 4 hrs of play so far. It's easy to get in and out of in seconds, saves your progress (assuming you create an account), has fun immediate action, and long term goals (unlocking new character classes, fighting the epic boss) Add in the multiplayer aspect and it's really a good time.

A co-worker mentioned this gem to me today: www.realmofthemadgod.comIt's essentially multiplayer (100 users?) gauntlet with progression, itemization and end goals in an open-world. It's quite fun! From the wiki: Realm of the Mad God pits every player against Oryx and his innumerable monster horde. Killing as many of his creatures as possible to summon the Mad God himself for a duel is the main objective of the game. However, there's more to see and do.
Defeat Oryx
Band together with other players to defeat 25,000 monsters, Skull Shrines, Cube Gods, Pentaracts and Oryx himself will show up to duke it out. All players on the server will be transported to his lair and he will appear on your mini-map as a purple dot in the middle of the map no matter how far away you are. It will take a team to defeat him, as he continually spawns his own demons to shield himself from your attacks. Oryx can take 20,000 damage before he winks out of existence and pledges to return after another 25,000 monsters are killed. He generally leaves behind some nice loot for his vanquishers.
Collect the Best Equipment
As you level up, you'll find plenty of equipment that your class may or may not be able to equip. Find other players via chat to trade loot with until you have the best equipment for your character as described in the Equipment section. The maximum level is 20, but equipment is not limited based on player level.
Farm the Gods
In addition to dropping good equipment, the gods also drop potions that can permanently increase your stats. Many players have taken to farming the gods for these potions, but you have to be careful... kill off too many and they won't be able to reproduce!
On the character selection screen it's cool to see unloackable classes. Warning - PermaDeath!

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Red Dead Completion Question

I'm currently burning through Read Dead Redemption's main quest. When I "finish the game" will I be able to then take my same character around the world and complete all of the side quests and unlock the outfits? Or do I need to do that before I complete the last story mission?

How different is this from the original? Reason I ask is I bought the original on the VC store 2 weeks ago and finished it - will I be beating the exact same version of King Hippo with better graphics?
Edit: read the gamespot review - they mention that once you become champion, the strategies change quite a bit as does the difficulty level. For example, I guess Glass Joe shows up with a metal helmet to protect his jaw... and is actually difficult to defeat! I may have to pick this up anyways.
Even the first time through they are a little different. King Hippo as an example breaks out a new move half way through round 1 that you won't have seen in the original.

I'm surprised at the apparent lack of interest in this title (in this forum at least).
After a couple of hours of play I'm finding it to be just as fun as the original. I'm currently getting whooped by the bear hug dude, that kick/slap is punishing. He seems to have three unique moves, all timed differently of course, that he strings together in short order. I'm looking forward to getting the timing down to send him to the mat.

I picked this up from Best Buy today and was able to put in a couple of rounds this afternoon. As a huge fan of the original Mike Tyson's Punch Out, I've been looking forward to this.
Quick first impressions:
Pros: - Outstanding job of preserving the old school feel with a massive face lift. Even the intro screen reminds me of the original. - Controls well using the nunchuck sideways (didn't play motion control) - Easy to jump right in and play. - Wonderful use of humor in the characters. - Fun to play!
Cons: - Occasional loads a bit longer than I would have expected - No Mike Tyson license. :p
Feels like a great game to play in short bursts. So far I say 'Great remake!'

What's the "this" they had on display? $40 software for $200? Exactly. It uses a USB controller that is identical to what you use for the real thing. So walking in off the street I had no perception of what the real value of that product (software + controller) was. In fact, if they were a bit more friendly I might have even bought it! I'm looking for something a little more advanced than indoor only. My reason for getting into this is a giant open soccer field across the street from my house.

Anyone into this? I've been thinking of trying it out, but I don't know where to start. As with any hobby there is an abundance of confusing information available online. I'd like to know what a good starter model is, one that won't burst into tiny pieces when I inevitably crash it, and where I can get it. I found a local store where I live, but I think they might be crooks. For example, they had this on display and told me it was $200. http://rcflightsim.com/index.htmlNot exactly the guys I want to be helping me out.
