I didn't realize that this was actually the first full movie for director Tim Miller.  Pretty impressive directing debut, I'd say (though he had worked in visual effects and videogame cinematics before).

Wasn't Tim Miller with Blur Studios? If so they make the best video game cinematics IMO.  Glad his first movie is such a great success.  I wonder who they will cast as Cable for the next movie

Great movie but WTH parents why are there kids like 7 years old at the movie?  Congrats to the Mom and her 4 kids all young that now know what exactly a strip club is like inside and what goes on in there.

This happened to me Sunday afternoon. Two ladies bring in about 5 kids that looked to be under the age of 6.  In just 10 minutes into the movie the ladies really started to panic and quickly exited from the theatre.

Did anybody bother to look at the Official Design Works book that's included with the PC version?  It's actually a really cool and thorough 313 page art book.  Lots of paintings and renderings and concept art with some commentary alongside it.

The only problem is that it's a giant PDF and viewing those things just chugs regardless of PC specs.   disgust

Well, here's some great news:

Bryan Fuller will be the showrunner.

http://io9.gizmodo.com/hannibals-bryan-fuller-is-producing-the-new-star-trek-t-1758068994

Quote
This is the best possible choice. Bryan Fuller—who worked on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager back in the day, before going on to create Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls and Hannibal—will be the showrunner of the new Star Trek TV show.

In a statement, Fuller was quoted as saying:

My very first experience of Star Trek is my oldest brother turning off all the lights in the house and flying his model of a D7 Class Klingon Battle Cruiser through the darkened halls. Before seeing a frame of the television series, the Star Trek universe lit my imagination on fire. It is without exaggeration a dream come true to be crafting a brand-new iteration of Star Trek with fellow franchise alum Alex Kurtzman and boldly going where no Star Trek series has gone before.
Fuller has been trying to get a Star Trek series off the ground for nearly a decade. Back in 2008, he told IF Magazine:

I told my agent and told the people of J.J. Abrams team I want to create another STAR TREK series and have an idea that I’m kicking around. I would love to return to the spirit of the old series with the colors and attitude. I loved VOYAGER and DEEP SPACE NINE, but they seem to have lost the ‘60s fun and I would love to take it back to its origin.
The new Trek series (which is being executive produced by Alex Kurtzman) will premiere on CBS in 2017, before moving to CBS’ digital “CBS All Access” platform.

Entertainment Weekly points out that Fuller has teased a few different ideas for Star Trek TV shows in the past. At one point, he said it would be interesting to see how the Next Generation era looks, in the altered timeline of the recent J.J. Abrams films. In another interview, he said it would be cool to have a show that follows another starship, the U.S.S. Reliant, and that he’d love to cast Angela Bassett as the captain and Rosario Dawson as the first officer.

Fuller is already showrunner of the American Gods series on Starz, and is also spearheading the new version of Amazing Stories.

Wow! Loved Pushing Daises and Hannibal. This is fantastic news. When Fuller is allowed to do his thing (creative freedom) great things happen....whether people watch the show or not

Ack. I kept myself on media blackout for Xcom 2, as the first title was one of my favorite games of the past few years. Bought it sight unseen from Steam, just loaded it up on my HTPC....and realized that it doesnt have xbox controller support.

My own fault, as the store page clearly does not list it, but I never thought a sequel would take gameplay options out. Is anyone using the Steam gamepad? If so, does it work well?

I'm using the steam controller and it works well. There is even an official configuration from Firaxis on there as well as the community ones that improve on it even further

you would probably really like the latest CoD, it's a lot like an updated Black Ops 1 or 2 which I know you enjoyed.

I did hear that it was pretty good. I'll likely hold off until the new game comes out in November before diving back into the franchise, but there's always the chance that I'll fall off the wagon.

I'll probably just stick to BO3 instead of picking up the new one.  Slim chance I'll get the next Sledgehammer game and almost zero chance I'll get the next IW one.

Same with me. IW and sledgehammer these last two years have been bad buying decisions I have regretted.  Treyarch seems to do no wrong and have always been able to pull me back into CoD.

Glad you got an XB1, you get to cherry pick the best titles over the last couple years

Short story version is that my opponent missed weight. Not by a little either, his KFC loving butt was two weight classes above 48 hours before weigh ins.  I wasn't not able to to accept the fight even if I wanted to due to commission regulations, however I was fairly compensated for showing up at weight.  Very anticlimactic end to a grueling fight camp in which my trainer had two world class strikers from Thailand help train me.

I'm still on track for my last few fights for 2016. Next one up is in Phoenix, Arizona for the Muay Thai Open tournament from April 22nd-24th.

If I do well, I may get an offer that I will most likely refuse due to my age and mileage on this busted body.

I got up to level 14 with my Blade Master last night, but I think I'm going to reroll.  It was lots of fun at the start, but has become a little too Street Fighter-esque for me, requiring a ton of specific button combinations at specific times in order to be successful.  They weren't kidding when they listed the class as "hard" at character creation.

Looking at either a Destroyer or Force Master, as both look a little less strenuous on the reflexes.

So far Gratch, force master looks to be the less twitchy of all the classes that I've played. Don't be fooled by the destroyer though, that is my main at lvl 24 and now it's like playing Zangief with an axe....not even kidding.  But I love it. I have a lvl 21 Blade Master as well and yes it's hard to master. Harkonis can tell you all about the hardest class Kung Fu Master.

To be fair, Harkonis would gank me just for the thrill of killing me, and not for my loot. Then I would eventually kill him....I would laugh, he would laugh, then after that kill everyone that is not in our party smile

OK, someone on my friends list needs to make a fighter pawn. There are none to be had so I am helping out randoms.

I have a Ranger pawn that fights mostly with daggers if that helps.  And I finally rested in the inn so she should be properly available.

I think Kato has a true fighter pawn as well with The Grey.  Looks like he has a giant hammer or something.

I think Kato's is a Mage.

I changed my pawn to a Fighter right away.  Even leveled that old bastard up a bit and got some decent gear for him.  Got lucky with some mats I picked up and was able to enhance his main weapon Hammer to lvl 3.

I didn't know that you had to do that, so no 😳

I think this pawn thing is really super cool, like nemesis system cool as far as an innovation. I can't believe it hasn't been copied in the last few years.

Maybe this stuff is in the manual but I'll just ask here 😊 Is it correct that only your pawn levels when you play? So you have to periodically refresh your companions? Also, is there a max level for pawns you can pick up to prevent you from cheesing stuff?

Yes, Pawns only level when you play.  It's a good idea to refresh your pawn after you level them up and add new skills, weapons and armor.
No max level to pick up pawns to make things easier. It's just that if you go outside your friends list, the cost would be really really high if way above your current level.  Friends pawns, at least on the 360, was always free no matter what level

I think it does, but I know I haven't yet gotten to the part where I create my own pawn.  I just got to the little encampment after finishing all the quests in the main town I could.

Hopefully later today depending on how much time I spend with family.

It works. I've already hired Pawns from Razgon, Caine, and Hotfreak.  When you first zone in the place where you choose your pawns, the room will be populated by the pawns marked as a favorite and by your friends list first.
After that you can filter out what you need or want.  I like browsing my pawns with the creators name on top so I know who to pick smile

Yes the pawns were absolutely free when drawn from the friends list. So for PC, Arrowhead finally blinked and made the aiming crosshair "always-on," with an option to disable that.

So if you weren't able to get comfortable with mouse/keys on PC, you may want to re-visit it now.  icon_smile

A couple nebulous posts at Arrowhead's Twitter account suggested we might want to "watch their news section" to see if anything new for Helldivers might be on the way. While I remain skeptical -- the Helldivers and ex-Gauntlet teams are working on a secret, unannounced game supposedly unrelated to its previous titles -- I would like to be wrong.

Good news. I do prefer the gamepad for Helldivers even though the keyboard and mouse controls are excellent.
