I worry that once I hit prestige rank 10, that I wont play this anymore.
Don't know what it is about the leveling in this game, but it never gets old to me.

Although Golden AK-47, Mini Uzi & Dragunov would take a good couple of weeks to obtain alone.

I need to find some late night gamers.
Amost everybody is dead silent at these hours of the night.

I never sleep......

Really enjoying the game, but, I would like to see a bit more done with the diplomacy on the SP side of things.  At the moment it seems to be pretty much a case of the Ai telling me to do things and me going 'yes master' if I want any hope of some kind of diplomatic relations.  It would be nice if there were some inherent dislikes/problems between differing races, and conversely it being easier to make friend's with factions from the same race.  Of course that might already be in there and I haven't noticed it yet.

I also would like to see some more obvious distinctions between the 3 races.  The ships look different, and do have different abilities, but it just doesn't quite feel like they play very differently.  This may be mainly a factor of not having played enough to see more of the subtleties that are there.

Lastly, more ships types.  I know that it helps to keep things fairly streamlined, but it would be nice to have some other, viable, ships to play with.

Considering that from the sound of things Ironclad intends to have the same type of after release support that Galciv I&2 have had, I expect to start seeing such things before too long.

P.s. forgot minor races, monsters (what?  I liked the random space monsters from MOO), ancient robotic defenses...

I agree with most of what you've said, but I definitely feel the three races play extremely differently in playstyles.  Advent's use of shields, aggro management in battle, spreading damage through use of guardians and their focus on strikecraft and culture make them play much differently than the other two definitely.  TEC had the huge economic focus which allows you to fund huge fleets more quickly and their ships do good damage as well.  Vasari have amazing control with regards to phase lanes and jumping and their ships focus on hindering movement of others, self repair and the like and they play quite different as a result.

You CAN play each of the three races in the same way, in which case they would seem very similar, but if you cater to their strengths you'll probably see that they really are quite different.

I agree with what both of you have to say.  I think this game is fantastic, even if there is room for improvement.  I know this game will be supported very well by the devs and I just can't wait what the community will do (Mods, maps, extras)

No deffense against the big guns cept to take them out before they fire?

There is another way smile

I think I found the counter to this, is it the fully researched planet shield?

Actually, yes - this one skipped my mind. A planetary shield is very effective against it but it wasn't the one I was thinking of...

icon_confused Ah, now I need to play the game even more now to find out what it is.....

I've only played on Close Encounters, so my strategy for bigger games could be much different.  But I start by building two scout ships and have them Auto-Scout.  Off they go uncovering the galaxy.

Next I build all three mining extractors and then build the Capital Ship building - followed by building my first Capital Ship.

Next I name my Capital ship something truly sinister sounding, like "Arkon's Hammer".

Next I start digging into Economy research.

After that... I have no strategy at all.  I play it completely by ear and try to have fun.

That could explain why I suck.   icon_biggrin

I have been out of the online forum and MP loop for quite some time (since the Christmas holiday, partially due to travel, a new career, a new car, a new year, a new flu strain), but now I'm hoping to get back into the online MP swing of things.  Many have moved on to "teh new hotnezz" Burnout Paradise, but I'm still hoping to find some remaining interest in COD4.  It has been far too long since I last heard fuzzball's profane lamentations, or I last had USMC Kato snatch yet another kill right from within my grasp, or I last had reason to call Harkonis a no-good goddamn motherfucking turd-sucker, or I last got so angry with a game that I turned it off mid-game and dropped all of my teammates from a match.

I'm back and once again ready to shake off the MP rust and kill without mercy.  WHO'S WITH ME!

Dude, welcome back buddy! I don't know if I'm with you because during Multiplayer, it seems I'm almost always against you  ninja   See you soon.

Sorry Jarrod for the late reply, was playing a co-op game with Turtle all night.  Sent you a personal message for the vent info.

Oh and I downloaded ICQ: USMC Kato

Very cool game.  I really need to RTFM but it was funning playing with Turtle and learning the ropes.

Not a very good screenshot but basically Turtle had to save my ass the entire game.

Set it to campaign type and mission mode to get the achievements, but that also requires you to get through the missions without dying.  You don't play the missions back to back per se, you choose the map and after you are done you choose another one.

The maps/missions follow a storyline, but you don't have to follow it exactly.

Co-op is pretty damn fun! Even with only the two of us (wish we had more of a group) was still pretty satisfying.

I am a French Navel Officer on the morgan server and I got a quick question. After you fight a battle with your ship, do you have to repair it? If so, how?

Also, what happens if your ship gets sunk?

it looks like it's automatically repaired from what I've seen.  I haven't gotten sunk yet, but I believe you lose a point of durability from your ship.  If it hits zero durability it goes bye bye.

seeing as you are French, remember that your most important skill is 'Surrender'.  It should be under your ship skills.
