Mr Lettuce,

I must exclaim my extreme displeasure in your decision to create a thread stating that you are the worst fighting game player of all time, when that title clearly belongs to me. That you got 31,000 points in any challenge map in Arkham, undeniably proves that you are better at melee combat than myself. How dare you try to claim my title! I demand an apology, and full submission of the Fighting Belt of Suck to me at once.

Sincerely,
Jeff (4900 pts high score in Sewer Bat)

You probably don't want to know what Kato and I scored in Sewer Bat Extreme, then.

Autistic Angel is a beast with those challenges as well.  Using the batarang during the combat challenges is crucial (at least to me) to keep the combo count going.

I can't help myself.  As soon as I see one of my GT friends get close to my score, I just have to increase the gap  ninja

Did you pass my score on Sewer Bat Extreme yet?

Lol, I'm doing that one right now...... (edit: I finally passed your score by 2000..that was hard)

Quote from: Jarrodhk on September 02, 2009, 07:08:42 PM

Had this one pointed out to me via a thread on Quarter to Three.

As the title suggests the focus is all about space battles.  There are 3 ship classes at the moment: Fighter, Frigate and, Cruiser.  There are several scenarios to play with that limit the number of pilots and cost of fleet you can field. There are 3 difficulties as well and beating all the scenarios on a difficulty unlocks access to another race.

The game is in beta right now, but like stardock tends to do, you can buy and play now. There are plenty of balance issues and some sound crash issues (that seem to be getting resolved quickly).  The only crash that I've had was fixed extremely quickly and had a workaround up even before that. The developer is very responsive and working hard to get various UI issues handled and is willing to adjust the game as people find problems.

I've already gotten a ton of enjoyment out of the game and can't wait for more modules/hulls/classes of ship to be added. From what various people have said it appears to be very moddable.

No online per se at the moment, but you can set up fleets and post them for people to download and try and beat.  You can also send personal challenges to someone as well.  As soon as Kato lets me know his name in the game I have a couple to send him.

At any rate just wanted to post this here as I don't remember seeing anything on the game on GT.

How long is the game clocking for most here?  I really enjoyed the demo and was wondering how much more I could expect if I got the full game.

I've put in about 4 hours so far and I'm only 12 pecent through the game.  of course, I'm going REALLY slow and savoring every moment.  It's that darn good.  i want to explore every nook and cranny, find all the easter eggs and back story.  plus, the challenge rooms are freakin' great.  i see them easily adding another 10 to 20 hours to my gametime (if not much more).

Spoiler for Hiden:
I had just finished the second fight in the sanitorium and thought to myself, "man, I'd love to come back here and stealth my way through this one" when lo and behold it unlocked about 10 minutes later as a challenge room with the stipulation that i take down the enemies with stealth.   icon_biggrin  i love this game...and i'm gunning for USMC Kato's high score on 'silent knight'.

Ah so you're gunning for my high score eh? Now I must score higher! mua ha ha ha!

I've unlocked 4 challenge rooms (not including the pre-order bonus scarecrow one) and they are all damn fun.  Going to see how long I can stay number one in the GT crowd

Game play is a blast.  Their demo MP options... not so much.  It's peer-to-peer, and no way to see if the host can actually handle a full game, no way to start your own server, etc.  With the full version I expect it will be less of an issue since you can have dedicated PC servers for the 360.  But right now seems just about impossible to find a lag free game.

Definitely going to get the game.

I'll be there day 1

Definately going to use that G.I. Bill during my job transition.  Most likely i'll be staying in the military until I hit 20 years or more.  The Marine Corps will not let me change jobs without losing rank so the plan is to transition into the ARMY. I make fun of the army all the time, but in all honesty they have better opportunities for myself and my family.  I can be an XRAY tech, do financial paperwork, or be even be a firefighter in the Army.  The important thing is that I would finally be home for good and actually be there for my family during the holidays.

And we have more than a year to plan the next shindig.  It shall be even more fabulous than the last one.  Fabulous

I got out of the Marines after 12 years in due to the same concerns.  I was married and with the drawdown that was going on (from 212,000 to 185,000) we were told to expect to be deployed 80% of the time.  I decided it was time to get out and April 1, 1997 was my last active duty day; I had 55 days terminal leave.  My XO came to talk to me one evening when I was the Staff Duty Officer and he confided in me that his proudest accomplishment to date was that he was still on his first marriage; this guy was qualified as a Marine One pilot (able to fly the President) so he respected my decision.

Best decision I ever made, I landed in a great job and have done well from there.  I know a lot of what I have done since getting out was due to what I learned in the Marine Corps.

By the way to everyone that thinks the retirement is great think again.  I went in in 1985 and had I stayed to 20 years I would have gotten 50% of my base pay which comes out to about $1000/month, 30 years would have been 75% base pay.  If you are near a base you can take advantage of the exchange and medical there but active duty have priority over you.  The people that went in only a few years after me didn't get 50% at 20 they lowered it to 35% so the retirement sucks and you are starting over at 38-40 years old; not a good combination.

As a family, we have decided that instead of going to the civilian work force, I can try and find a job pushing papers instead of being in the field all of the time.  Maybe if I can find a job in the military that has a decent schedule I can start to go back to school.  My current skill set does not transfer very well into the civilian world...... one of my regrets for being a combat MOS all these years.

Yesterday, I received orders to back to the great sandbox.  This deployment will last 12 months instead of the 6-7 month period.   icon_frown

After a long talk with the wife, we have decided that one way or another, that this would be my last deployment.  I can change jobs (MOS), or maybe even get out of the armed forces for a civilian job.

There have been many people in this community that have had to start over professionaly, and its something I really never had to think about.  I have no fear going back to Iraq but I have fear starting my life over.

Anyways, just wanted to vent a little.

I'll be deploying within 2 months, and I can't believe I wont be here when Modern Combat 2 is released.

Radiotags are terribly acted audio logs which can be found in secluded areas across the Martian landscape.  As you collect them, you'll find hidden "Ultor-era bombs" like the MOAB I used to help wipe out that city center.  Keep an eye on your minimap and make a beeline for any green blips that may appear.

Im fairly sure that the radiotags are actual photos (and their own voice acting) of the devs.

I assaulted a high priority target several times and no matter how I planned or prepared it alway turned into me versus a universe full of guards. I guess I should have held off trying this target until I have more sophisticated weapons. However, there are a number of features I do like, so I'll keep at it, just give myself some time to figure things out a bit more.

The Eurogamer review actually says the same thing that you guys are about the early going and getting overwhelmed by reinforcements.  However, they go on to say that after you get out of the second area and into the third, the game opens up in terms of weaponry available, areas, and structures you get to demolish.

Things also get incredibly easier when morale is past 70+ or more, because when that happens you always get truckloads of guerilla reinforcements that come to your aid as you do your missions.

Also multiplayer was awesome last night with some GT members and Tom Chick and his gang

The game definitely has that "one more match" feeling to it. I've only seen one MMA fight, two chicks fighting to a decision on HBO when I was channel-surfing one night. I couldn't definitely see how this could be addicting.

Someone mentioned all the loading screens were getting annoying. I installed to the hard drive and I find all the loads to be pretty quick.
