Yeah, I agree with Dungeon Keeper.  A good successful developer really needs to pick this up and turn it into a AAA title.
42  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (2/8) on: February 09, 2010, 03:25:01 AM
Bioshock 2 PS3.  The first Bioshock is one of the best shooters ever in my book, gameplay and story.  I hope this second game keeps the 'shock' scenes just as shocking as the first game.  Seeing a big daddy for the first time was very memorable.

Shiren wii.  I loved the DS Shiren.  It is probably my favorite game on the DS.  I put well over 50 hours on it and I beat the game.  Took a long time because of the death penalty and tough monsters, but I loved that and would not have changed it.  The randomness of the dungeons, items, and monsters made each trip interesting.  Hearing that the wii game might be easier has me disappointed.  The online rescues were awesome and unique from the DS version.  Loved going out and rescuing someone or having someone rescue me.  Very original.  So that is another strike against the wii version if that is not an option.  Why would a developer yank out a key (FUN!) component like that?!!!  Really upsets me.
43  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekend Playlist - 1/22/10 on: January 22, 2010, 09:56:41 PM
Deadspace (PS3) - About halfway through Chapter 7.  I love using the Ripper.

Super Mario Bros. Wii - Love playing this game with my kids.  Very fun.

Possibly a little Dragon Age (PC) - I'm trying to kill the swamp witch lady, but I'm only level 8.  So, I probably have to back out and try another quest path because I can only get her down to 50% heal before dying.  Very good game, but I have a couple of problems with it.   The characters are too stiff and the story doesn't flow smoothly.

On christmas eve/boxing day, the wife and I were over at a friends house and we played through the first seven worlds of New Super Mario Bros Wii. What a fantastic game.

Yeah, I've been through the first four worlds and this game is a blast.  A real surprise to me of how good it is.  Especially with friends.  There are a lot of secrets in the game.
45  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekly Playlist - Year End Holiday Loot Special Edition - 12/25 on: December 27, 2009, 07:50:43 PM
I'm in the middle of a sweet two week vacation, so I have some good playing time.

Bioshock (PS3) - I actually like this better on the PS3 than the PC.  I'm about 75% through on the PS3 and it is definitely one of my favorite shooter/action games ever.
King's Bounty The Legend (PC) - I got it for $12.50 from Gamer'sGate.  I'm a huge fan of the Heroes of Might and Magic series and I'm really enjoying this game.  Very addictive and colorful!
Out of the Park Baseball 10 (PC) - I picked this up a week ago on their sale.  I haven't played since the 2007 version.
46  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: It's that time again! What's Your Game of the Year 2009 on: December 08, 2009, 12:19:11 PM
Dragon Age Origins (PC) - Awesome production, graphics, and best of all is the epic story and quests.

Runner up is Demon's Souls (PS3) - Combat and graphics are incredible.
47  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Steam Thanksgiving Sale 5 days, new deals every day! Borderlands $33.49! on: November 28, 2009, 09:55:29 PM
Wow, Left 4 Dead GOTY edition only $7.49.  Never played it and I don't have an XBOX.  I only have a PS3.  So, this is a must buy for me and see what all the hype is.

Borderlands is very tempting at $33.49.   Or is it better to buy for the PS3?
48  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (11/09) on: November 09, 2009, 12:13:46 PM
PS3
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
49  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (10/25) on: October 26, 2009, 06:02:00 PM
Not sure which platform to pick for Borderlands, PC or PS3.  This was not on my buying radar until reading all the good feedback here.

Torchlight?  Not really read much on this one.  Depending on feedback, I may make the jump.

Press Your Luck 2010 Edition - for some odd reason this actually sounds interesting to me.

50  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Netflix to PS3 on: October 26, 2009, 05:39:46 PM
Awesome.  I definitely will be using this service on my PS3.  I have never downloaded/streamed a movie before.  Interested in how it will work.
51  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Demon's Souls PS3 US version on: October 10, 2009, 03:29:13 PM
I've spent 2 hours in 1-1.  I can't get past it.  This game is very difficult for me.  I have died well over a dozen times.  I'm always at half HP because I'm not in physical form.  How do I get back to physical form after getting killed by the first boss in the tutorial?  My guess is I have to get through 1-1?

I must say even though the initial difficulty is incredible, the graphics and combat system to me is the new standard or 'next step' for RPGs.  This just feels right.  Because of this, I'm willing to continue on.  I started with a barbarian.  Now I'm going to try with a Mage.  I hope that class is easier.
52  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: One exclusive you would like to see cross over to your console of choice on: October 01, 2009, 01:58:19 AM
I know that I'm in a very small group... I do not own a 360.  I would love Halo to come over to the PS3.

From the PC side, I agree with Diablo 3 coming to consoles.

I have never played the first Ultimate Alliance.  I'm going to buy a new game today, PS3.  Should I grab the first one or the new release?
54  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Sacred 2 finally gold! on: May 31, 2009, 03:29:32 PM
I haven't tried yet in this game, but is it possible to trade items between your single player toons?  You could in Titan Quest, using the inventory storage.
55  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Sacred 2 finally gold! on: May 25, 2009, 02:07:27 PM
I held off buying this game because of the low scoring reviews but I picked it up yesterday (PS3) from the positive buzz here.  After 4 hours of playing last night, I'm really enjoying it and the addiction 'just one more quest before I stop for the night' really kicked in.  Now I need to learn how to use runes and blacksmithing.  Can't wait to play more today.

I got the GH: Metallica for the PS3, love it.
57  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: GHWT or Rock Band 2 on: March 13, 2009, 07:05:04 PM
What about customizing your band members?  Does either game allow you to customize what your band members look like and wear?  I have young kids and I don't want them watching skimpy dressed or tattoed band members on the TV.  Really it is the wife that is concerned with that.
58  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: GHWT or Rock Band 2 on: March 13, 2009, 06:27:31 PM
Metallica's guitar hero game is coming out at the end of this month.  I want to jump on this day one and play both guitar and drums.  But it is a big expense and want to make sure the guitar hero world tour is worth the price (PS3 version).  I don't have either rock band or guitar hero.  Very interested in diving into this new gen.  Looking for some feedback to help make my decision.

60  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Late to the DS party. Recommend me some game on: January 10, 2009, 11:57:27 PM
Some great games on the DS.  Though I really wanted to like elite beat agents but it is just too hard, I can't get past one of the mid-levels for the life of me.   icon_frown

No order but these games I played the most.  I can play at anytime, good stuff here:
Mario Kart
New Super Mario
Shiren Mystery dungeon
Puzzle Quest - perfect DS game
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2
Pheonix Wright games
Animal Crossing
Final Fantasy 4
The world ends with you

About the only thing I would really like to see on the DS that hasn't come out... An original paper mario game

My game of the year: Fallout 3 - love the setting, combat, and exploration

These games are also incredible.  I loved each of them!

Dead Space PS3 - best graphics and sound on the system.  Any gamer that has a HD-TV, this is a must have.  Incredible game, loved the whole thing.  I liked this better than Bioshock.

Far Cry 2 PS3 - This game must be played for a few hours before realizing the greatness that it is.  Again, loved the openess and exploration.  Combat is awesome with kick ass weapons.  Lots of ways to go about killing a town full of enemies.

GTA 4 PS3 - Driving, music, and tons of missions.

62  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: your 2008 sleepers on: December 03, 2008, 03:30:38 AM
Shiren the wanderer for the DS.  Put in tons of hours on this game during the summer.  Loved how you could connect wifi within the game and rescue or be rescued from anyone.  Very cool feature.

Dead Space PS3.  My lord the graphics and sounds are jaw dropping in this game.  Never heard of it before until it was released.  Best PS3 game in my opinion.  Liked it just as much as Bioshock for the PC.
63  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Wii] Best kid games? on: November 22, 2008, 01:51:26 PM
There are three games my kids love and keep coming back to:
Super Paper Mario
Mario Party 8
Mario Kart
64  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (11/10) on: November 11, 2008, 12:30:45 AM
WoW Lich King in my hands at midnight.  And more than likely COD World at War for the PS3, unless the reviews are not good.
65  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Far Cry 2 on: October 20, 2008, 10:32:53 PM
Can't wait to pick this up on Wednesday.  Just not sure which platform, PS3 or PC.
66  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (10/20) on: October 20, 2008, 09:22:41 PM
I played Far Cry on the PC only.  Still is my favorite shooter, loved the openess, multiple ways of getting through a fire fight, and believe it or not I liked the save system.  It made me think of the many different ways to approach a situation.  I appreciated the game much more.  The last 10 to 20% of the game was awesome.
67  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (10/20) on: October 20, 2008, 07:48:37 PM
Bioshock PS3
I bought it on the PC last year, but I want to play this gem on HDTV.

Far Cry 2 PC or PS3
The first one is still my favorite first person shooter of all time.  But I am unsure which one to get, PC or PS3.  I want to see this puppy on my HDTV, but I am not use to the console controls of a shooter.  I like my keyboard and mouse.  This is a very tough decision.

Guitar Hero World Tour PS3
I need to have a talk with my wife on this one before I take the plunge.  I have yet to try a 'Rock Band' type of game.   I'm very interested in rocking out on my favorite tunes.

Wii Music is for the family at christmas.
68  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dead Space on: October 15, 2008, 10:28:02 PM
Yeah the only disadvantage of getting this on the console is I have to wait for the kids bedtime.

Yellowking, go get the game for your 42inch HDTV.  This game is meant to be played on that with a complete soundsystem.  It is sweet, at least for the first few minutes I have played.
69  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dead Space on: October 15, 2008, 05:57:43 PM
Got a copy at lunch today for my PS3.  Wife and kids were gone for a haircut so I got test drive it for a few minutes.  Easy install.  Good short intro.  The graphics are the big thing right off the bat, stunning on my HD 42in TV.  Sound is loud... when the first encounter happens, you feel like you are in a movie, great sound and atmosphere.  Your guy is kind of at the left of the screen, third person view.  I didn't get a chance to use my first weapon yet.  You also have inventory.  Standard objectives and saving after each one is instant, no slow down.  I like this feature, if you are lost on what to do next you can create an in-game blue line path that your guy can follow to the next objective.

Until the first reviews came out, I did not know anything about this game.  After only a few minutes, the best way to describe it is a faster action BioShock in space.  Gore and horror everywhere.  Bottom line, looks and sounds like a triple A title.  Can't wait to play more tonight.

It's not the second coming of 'Justice', but I haven't listened to a new Metallica disc five times in a row (all day today) since the Black album released. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Same here.  Really enjoying the new CD.  I like most of the songs a lot, but the Judas Kiss and the Broken songs really stand out for me right now.  Can't wait to hear some of these songs in concert.  I will be there for sure.

Really why compare it to their old stuff?  No way could they repeat that magic 20+ years later.  That stuff is timeless.

Bottom line is that it is a great starting point and I hope that it sells well so that we see sequels down the line with some tweaks and a little more depth added in.

A friend of mine who works at Gamestop said that it absolutely bombed in his region. The only version that did even remotely well was the DS iteration. I'm hoping his area is not indicative of sales in general.

I saw on CivFanatics.com that the game has sold out here in the U.S. I also saw yesterday somewhere that the game has been the best selling 360 game on Amazon since it came out. That probably dropped though after NCAA came out, but it is still good.

I finally found a copy at a Sam Goody store, their last copy too.  I've been spending the last 2 days searching for a copy.  All the Gamestops around here were sold out.

I will be firing it up tonight and all weekend.

Wow, this thread has just about sold me on getting this game.  Bullwinkle's comment is exactly how I feel about CIV games.  I have yet to buy the console version because of that fact.  I just don't like long civ games anymore because I don't have the time dedicated for 2+hour sessions.  I am about to pull the trigger.  Thanks for the impressions.
74  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Shocking News!! Game Reviewers admits not finishing the games for review on: July 15, 2008, 02:18:51 PM
Agreed.  It is not shocking news at all.  But it is still sad and embarressing to the reviewers.

As a gamer, I'm caring less about reviews anyway.  As time goes on, if you game all the time you become jaded.  It takes more WOW to get your attention.  I hate that feeling.  I always take a break from gaming when that happens.  If I was a reviewer, I would become jaded pretty quickly.  That does nothing to the casual gamer.

75  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [E3] So, what do you want to hear from Sony and Nintendo tomorrow? on: July 14, 2008, 08:25:09 PM
Nintendo - Animal Crossing Wii and DS 2.  Also, the DS 2 has the functionality to download and play all your purchased VC and wiiware games.

PS3 - I want a good RPG game to play in HD.

Ok, I absolutely loved the first FFTA on the GBA and probably played it close to 100 hours.  I was very worried that this sequel wouldn't stand up to the original.  After about 5 hours I can say my expectations have been met, love this game too.  Everything seems improved except for the battles.  Looks to have a ton of quests.  I'm in heaven.  I do need to figure out the clan stuff, including the trials and the trial titles.

Yes, I would like a better adult story but it is not a game breaker.

Needless to say my bad pun was not well recieved.
